    EDC Bags

It is seen by the host computer as either a usb hard drive, or usb cdrom drive, it can also do both, but it's kinda buggy for me that way. It can boot machines as a cdrom drive though. I use it that way most of the time.
  2. Have you tried their youtube channel? I just started a couple of season 11 just fine.
  3. Tell that to half my clients....
  4. Yea, pretty sure it was HD's talks. Derbycon 2 and 3 he talked about nmapping the internet.
  5. Cause we need another thread about this... https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/34656-edc-bags/

    EDC Bags

Okay, bringing this thread back on topic, here's my EDC work backpack. From left to right top top bottom. 5.11 Rush Moab 10 backpack. Zalman virtual cd drive. This little guy is kinda cool. It pretends to be a cd rom drive, and lets you select any iso file you want to show up in whatever os you plug it into. Here's what's on it right now. Ubertooth one in heatshrink. 1st gen Wi-Spy 2.4Ghz spectrum analyzer that I modded to have an external antenna. DBAN boot cd, found out the hard way it will wipe the virtual cd rom drive... Wedge-it door wedge. Comes in handy when you're carrying in stuff at a client site and they have self closing doors. It's clipped to the outside of my pac with one of those cheap ass carabiners you get at conventions. Gerber 650 Evolution. They don't make this one anymore, which sucks, it's really cool. Inside has the screwdriver bits, small bit wrench, pentalobe screwdriver, standard and torx small screwdriver set, couple different usb cables, a Kos cable, micro usb to standard A adapter, Cisco serial console cable, usb to serial adapter, and a Triple 8 Professional Wright Knife.
  7. You don't install wireshark on the mk5. You run wireshark on your laptop with the ethernet cable connected to the mk5 as your monitor device in wireshark.

My weather station said the high wind for yesterday was 42mph. I was only doing 45 most of the trip home because no one could see. The wind was blowing into the back, couldn't be helped... Stupid wind. Oh well. Now I can just strap crap to the roof!!
  9. Heh, kinda like the r00tabega. Also like how the default feedback is 5 stars.

Woot!! Swapped out my work car with a Honda Element. One of our new guys said it was too big. Now I have to build a platform for it... Just replaced the factory stereo with one that has an aux in, drive too far most days to keep a single station tuned in. Now I can plug in my phone. Also built a roof rack yesterday. Used the factory mount points, but built everything else. Used steel angle for the mounts, and unistrut for the structure. Stainless nuts and bolts everywhere else. It was a balmy 7°F in the barn yesterday, so I'll paint up the struts this summer with bed liner paint. For now they should be good, they're galvanized. I did paint the angle brackets, had to sit them in front of the wood shop(love my barn) heater to dry though. I built it this way because the factory racks are usually too flimsy. I almost collapsed the one on the HHR with 4 pieces of unistrut. Every now and then we set up new conference rooms and the new hotness is hidden projectors and screens. Most buildings don't have the structure above a hung ceiling to hold a screen or projector lift, so we have to build it. That's one of the reasons I carry more construction tools than your average desktop support person or network engineer. Now I have to clean out all the road spray that came in the back. When I went to the hardware store it was just cold, but sunny. When I came out it was almost white out conditions and windy as hell. The unistrut comes in 10 foot sections, and even with them angled and all the way to the dash, the back wouldn't close all the way. There's salt spray crap all the way to the front seats...

  12. I actually think that radio is hardware locked to that power level. Something about the chipset or something like that. I never really worried about the tx power, cars on the highway and the truckers in the parking lot for the factory beside my house connect if I leave my pineapple running all day. The closest of the two is almost 500 feet away outside my house. The walls of my house were built in 1832 and aren't very wifi friendly.
  13. They also make liquid electrical tape. Stuff is awesome. Not very undoable, but for this it would be better than tape. http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-85120-Liquid-Electrical-Tape/dp/B003ERU04W/ref=pd_sim_sg_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0QVGSDNP4BS8E0A7X1SE I've used the crap out of this stuff to seal phone crimps outside. They say the crimps are water tight, but I've had them corrode due to weather.

Does our work cars count? Everything from the plastic tub forward came out of my car today. Swapping cars with one of my coworkers, so I had to clean it out. The tub has various length patch cables, network keystones, patch panels, screws, zipties, rolls of velcro, that sort of thing. The roll around box on the right has sharp pointy tools, large drill bits, hole saw blades, caulk gun, hammers, more screws. Backpack has my laptop and stuff I normally would carry into most desktop support sites. Black tool bag has all my network/av installation gear. Red bag is my cordless drill, impact driver batteries, charger and bits, and more screws. You can never have enough screws... There's also a small shop vac not in the picture. 4 foot ladder stays inside the car, 6 foot ladder goes on the roof rack. I'm actually short on cable right now. I usually have 6 thousand foot boxes in the car. I used up my two boxes of cat-6 last week and haven't replaced them yet. The plywood stuff in the top right of the photo was a platform I had in the HHR. The small ladder and dolly fit under it, and everything else was on top. I bolted them down to the cargo rings in the back so they couldn't move.
  15. Please swap out the electrical tape with heat shrink tubing! It will save your sanity down the road. The electrical tape will turn into an ungodly mess after a few months with the heat. Also, here's a shot of the inside of my home server, now running windows 8. It was running windows home server 2011, but I knocked it off the shelf it was sitting on and killed the os drive... Thought I'd give windows 8 storage spaces a shot. 8TB of storage drives, haven't done the spaces thing yet, so not sure how much usable space I'll have when done. Have to do it in chunks because I have to move data from the home server drives to the new drives live.
  16. If you want a Mac, buy a Mac, but do so knowing it has issues with internet connection sharing with the pineapple. Macs are also BSD based, not Linux based, so some stuff will work differently, or not at all if you're following online tutorials for linux pentesting applications. Mac os works great, until you start doing unMaclike things with it. Then it becomes a pain in the ass. If you do get one, get it because you're a Mac guy, not because it's shiny and pretty. Also max out the ram if you do get one. It will make running multiple virtual machines smoother.

Someone else asked Darren on twitter about it. I mentioned this thread to him and suggested they sell the bag by itself. Not sure if that caused it, or it was just a happy coincidence.

This is the second bag I linked to, with all the crap I carried. I have to carry a full sized laptop now, so that's why I got the new bigger bag.

    EDC Bags

My current EDC bag is one of these. It's a bit bigger than Darren's bag, but I carry a crapton more stuff every day for work. I've also used one of these, which is closer to the bag used in the tactical bundle. The closest thing I can find to the new bag is this one. Pretty sure they use cheaper reproductions though. They wouldn't be able to sell the kits at these prices.
  21. With a boat they could just skew the position slowly over time. With no real landmarks it would (should) work to throw it way off course over time, like overnight. You could also throw off agricultural gps autopilots doing the same thing. They're not following a road, just a grid on the field. They have a driver backup though, mostly to do slight (inch here and there) corrections.
  22. We always dban our client's leased printer drives when they swap them out. So far none of the printer companies have complained.
