  1. That's assuming this is on a web page or in another client-server situation, PHP can be used just an a normal scripting language as well.
  2. Print them to screen or to a printer?
  3. 2.9% isn't a huge amount more than normal credit card processors charge. I've set up a few "e-commerce" sites before and those usually charge around 2% if you go for the options with the lower yearly fee which is paid in addition to the percentage. If you want to pay less (like 1%) you usually have to paid a higher fixed fee, which becomes more economical with greater sales volume.
  4. You can't spell right as r8! That spells rate if anything. Sure, if you want to spell with a heavy Yorkshire accent I suppose it could work, but none of the other words are spelt that way.

    traceroute

Your router/firewall is breaking UDP traceroute.
  6. A live CD will let you reinstall GRUB, you could also try using something like GAG which is easier to install. Windows always overwrites the MBR without asking you for future reference.
  7. Not that I disagree with that, but there is some logic behind it. It's pretty rare for sex to end without a man climaxing, but fairly common for women, so other forms of stimulation need to be relied on. Heh, I've spent most of my teenage years (just 6 months left, yay) constantly cringing at the thought of the person I was a year earlier. I think self-loathing might just be an aspect of my personality though. Not very closely related, but it made me think of one of the things that really annoys me in this country: the first past the post voting system. Where I live there is no chance my vote will make a difference to the outcome unless I vote Labour or Tory, no other party gets anywhere near enough votes, making voting a futile act for me (I can't stand either party). I still vote (at least since I've been allowed to), but it's totally wasted. I would love a system of proportional representation by single transferable vote, but I don't see it ever happening. The current system makes a lot of people feel forced to vote for their least disliked of the two most likely to win parties, instead of whom they would actually like to win, which isn't how elections should be in my opinion. I don't really mind the former (I don't think most hippies are trying to life like Native Americans), but the latter seriously annoy me as well. I'm a bit confused as to what that means. People start off in internment as babies and have to work their way out? I doubt you mean that, but I think the default state of people is freedom, so to not have it someone has to physically take it away from you. You can have it and prove you are worthy of it (or rather not doing anything to prove the opposite) but that's not really the same thing.
  8. What? You must not have the software I have, with just one click of the "Enhance It" button a pixelated 4-bit GIF becomes a high-res true colour image.
  9. Oooh, threatening people other the Internet, that's definitely a sign that you're a big man. And such a sense of proportionality too, threatening immolation because someone called you an idiot, which you obviously are judging by your response.
  10. I think people ignore how fantastically powerful a weapon a gun is considering its size (particularly hand guns). Certain weapons should be controlled due to how dangerous they are. The logic "they'll just find another weapon" could apply to chemical weapons or biological weapons, why should those be controlled if people will just find another way to kill people? Guns are a simple way to kill a lot of people with very little planning or resources required.
  11. Yes, but the media over-sensationalises and the fact is murders were down last year in the UK. And those gun crimes are usually committed by gangs, which I said in my previous post could get guns.
  12. I think tighter gun control would reduce certain types of shootings, a lot of school shootings aren't really by the "typical" criminals, they are often just kids who are sometimes social outcasts or have mental problems. In a country like the US where there are already so many guns in the country I doubt gun control would ever stop people in gangs getting hold of them, but middle class high school kids could have more trouble. They might use a knife or car instead, but I don't see someone being able to kill as many people that way. Here in the UK handguns have been illegal for a decade or so now, and I'm sure criminal gangs can still get hold of them easily, but I have no idea how I would get one if I wanted to go on a shooting spree.
  13. I'm assuming there's no border checks at the borders of Massachusetts though, which makes getting guns only as hard as travelling to another state where they have looser gun control laws?
  14. Wow, that's bad. Kind of makes me thankful to be in the UK, even though I don't like much else about it. The US seems to have a crazy number of murders and school shootings. I can only think of one school shooting we had here, in 1996.
  15. 100 different viruses or multiple copies of the same one? It would be pretty crazy to have 100 different viruses, although sometimes cookies and other things are also detected by virus scanners.
  16. Probably a memory density problem, so incompatible. Edit: Also, just looked at the image, putting two different speed sticks of RAM in a PC is just asking for problems.
  17. It is if it's a *nix server.
  18. Not really, I think in this case invites are being used in an attempt to get people to advertise them via word of mouth which they wouldn't otherwise if you could sign up without invites.
  19. So what are you doing exactly? Advertising a game for Activision?
  20. I think Sparda is onto what the problem could be. Is there a htdocs or www directory (or similar) in the top level directory you see when you FTP in? Files should be in there if you want to be able to access them via HTTP.
  21. The entire point of his first post was that it wasn't autorunning. What would moving the mouse do?
  22. Wow, Fortunecity really sucks, they deleted my site too, the twats. I moved it to Tripod now, hopefully it will survive a bit longer. There are quite a few entries now, I noticed Tetrasoft stole some images from my site, does he get extra points for that? Not as many points as if he leeched them directly from my sever obviously though.
  23. Uh, that's exactly what a DMZ is. You'll just have to look through the router interface and use some common sense to find the right settings.
  24. I know explosives have been used for centuries, but I didn't say explosives, I said bombs, and what i really mean is bombing with planes (which wasn't really used on a wide scale until the Spanish Civil War). And when I say guns I mean what people refer to in modern times as guns, not cannons. Early cannons especially were unreliable and dangerous for the user anyway. I think handguns are the main problem guns in today's society, and those are the thing I would most like to uninvent. I think there is a difference between a gun and knives and cars in that the only use for a gun is to kill. Plenty of guns and ammo are designed specifically to kill humans. Of course there was the need to kill animals for frontiersmen during early settlement of the new world, but I don't think it would have made a huge difference if they had to use a bow, yes it requires skill, but people have used bows for millenia and it's just something you had to learn if you needed to hunt.
