  1. I only just read the PM asking me if I have the old patched EXE I made, I don't but I think it would have been an old version anyway. I slightly modified digip's version to stop it making the taskbar invisible and set the window to 1024x768 rather than the size of the entire screen. I haven't figured out how to make the window resizeable or moveable yet though and I'm going to bed now. http://herecomethelizards.co.uk/LockDownHexd5_t13.exe
  2. Because those are the people I talk to most often of the people who said they were going, and therefore I am more interested in meeting them in real life. By your logic it seems like there would be no point in a meetup at all because just meeting some random people on the street would be equivalent.
  3. I do actually have a ticket and my plane lands at 11:35: The thing is I'm a bit disappointed at how few people are apparently coming, especially since a large part of going was because I wanted to meet Moonlit and Dids, neither of whom are now coming so I'm not sure about coming now, and my flight is (mostly) refundable. I'm undecided as whether it's worth the cost for only a 4 person meet up.
  4. Punishment should be proportional to harm done, which it rarely is in cases like this. Also BBC news is remarkably unbiased compared to the news in a lot of other countries (just look at the absurdity of US news, which is basically just another form of entertainment TV rather than informational).
  5. That's because Famicoman was responsible for holding back the hordes of spammers in the past, but stopped doing it some months ago.
  6. So what movie before Ghost in the Shell had a similar ending? Also cliché is a noun, not an adjective, no matter how many Americans insist on getting it wrong.
  7. Sadly due to our pathetic government we allow our own citizens to be extradited to the US without even a prima facie case (i.e. the US doesn't have to show any evidence at all to extradite) even though the same is not true the other way. Countries like France and Germany don't even allow their own citizens to be extradited under any circumstances, never mind without evidence.
  8. Just booked my ticket, arriving at 11:35 on Thursday.
  9. Seems like the entire forum has been rolled back to an earlier version of the database.
  10. That won't work properly on shared hosting as I've said, because you can have hundreds of sites sharing the same IP with the Host header telling the server one the user wants, but that won't be displayed by netstat.
  11. That won't work because that will only give you the IP/hostname of the server and not the actual website URL. Any websites on shared servers using name-based virtual hosts wouldn't show up properly. Also it's quite slow which would impede its use even if that weren't a problem. Sparda's answer is probably the most robust and secure. The only other way I would think about doing it is with a browser plugin or extension, but this is more easy to circumvent because you can just use another browser or even just disable the extension.
  12. I love film noir and I loved Max Payne, and I'd love to see a revival of the film noir genre, but I'm fairly certain this will suck. It's directed by John Moore who made the remakes of The Omen and The Flight of the Phoenix, both of which were much worse than the originals, and Behind Enemy Lines which was slightly better but still not even close to good. Hitman was shit too, and if you like it you have a terrible taste in films. Edit: What people (especially Hollywood) needs to realise is what makes a good game is not that same as what makes a good movie. That said I think there is a good movie in Max Payne, but we will never see it because it would need a good screenwriter and a good director. Looking at the imdb credits of the writer Beau Thorne he has never written anything before, Max Payne is his only credit.
  13. BBC out of touch? You realise BBC are just a new agency reporting on what Gartner has said and also included opposing comments from Logitech, right?
  14. This is a ridiculous argument, trying to lump "drugs" together makes no sense. To start cannabis has been shown in a number of studies to in fact prevent lung cancer for reasons not yet understood. Taking too much DXM can harm you (especially if it's in a syrup which also has an extra analgesic in it) but it can easily be extracted so you you know exactly how much you're taking. And you could say the same about non-recreational drugs, take too much paracetamol (either all at once or taking small amounts chronically) and you will destroy your liver. It doesn't mean you should never take paracetamol, it just means you have to be careful about how much you take or over how long a period you take it.
  15. Drugs are awesome, but this thread is still stupid because of the reason snakey stated:
  16. I don't really like recreational hunting in general, but there seems to me to be something especially distasteful about hunting K-selected animals like primates. I mean with wild rabbits they produce large numbers of offspring and over 90% of them die before reaching a year in age anyway but a baboon spends a lot of energy rearing its young and has a natural life of 30 years so it seems quite different to kill one of those. I have a similar problem with hunting bears because they are not prey animals to anything other than humans so are not well adapted to survive hunting such as by producing large numbers of young which mature quickly like a lot of prey animals do.
  17. By that do you mean you just have a personal distaste for the idea or that you don't think it should be legal? You have the right to believe whatever you want, but I don't think you have the right to dictate what other people can do between themselves. I don't really know what you mean here, it's not like there is a surplus of people wanting to adopt and a shortage of children which are being given to gays over straight couples (if anything it's the opposite, a lot of agencies won't accept gay couples), there are always children that need a home. What do you mean? People and countless animals display homosexual behaviour, it is natural. It's been documented so many times in the animal kingdom it's not really worth mentioning a specific case, a cursory search with a search engine will provide masses of evidence.
  18. I'm definitely coming to this now. Even more definitely than last year when I said I was definitely coming and then forgot about it (making the deposit I paid to DarkSenay and my train ticket a complete waste of money).
  19. Well, I don't know if you noticed but in my first reply to this thread I also put the word "JOKE" (and some other stuff) using the exact same font size and colour as in your post. That wasn't a coincidence, I didn't just happen to pick same font size and colour as you. However, putting "JOKE" on the end of something doesn't make it a joke, just as prepending a racist statement with "I'm no racist, but..." doesn't make a statement non-racist (since that phrase is invariably followed by a string of ill thought-out bigoted opinion).
  20. Hmmm. I've come to the conclusion that all Australians are racist. In fact, all people who generalise are idiots.
  21. I'm not scared to joke, I probably joke more than most people about "sensitive" topics (even people who complain about "political correctness gone mad" seem to get annoyed when I joke about paedophilia, which makes me think they don't actually care about freedom of speech, they just want to call people niggers). However, I joke in a way that is obviously absurd, though a lot of people have no sense of irony and assume I'm being serious anyway. BUT what you said wasn't at all funny and so it seems implausible that it was a joke. "i'd hate if a aboriginal got in here" certainly wasn't said in an ironic sense.
  22. You assume (or did a few months ago, I don't know if your position has changed) that someone who is a different ethnicity to you would not represent your interests. That's making assumptions based on race. There's a word for that, what is it again? Is that because when you say something racist it makes it easier for someone to bring up in the future?
