Nophix
It's funny. On a site full of IT guys, Obama is hailing supreme(my choice as well, btw). However, on my car club's site, they are tearing him apart, and are so McCain happy it isn't even funny. A good majority of those people are pushing $250k or more, and are all pissy because they may have to pay a slightly higher tax rate. They have gorgeous houses, multiple cars, and luxuries beyond belief, and they act like and extra 1-2K a year in taxes is going to kill them. Now, on the flip side, when Bush first took presidency, I was making $56k/yr and had all sorts of toys, a nice house, and not a care in the world. Now, I make about the same money, but everything costs twice as much, and my health care coverage has gotten so bad it took out another huge chunk. I have minimal monthly expenses, but still have to work to streth my dollar. I have no car payment, no credit card bills, nothing. But I do have a wife and 2 kids now. The $56k I made in 2000 would have been penty for a family then, now it is bare minimum to get by. And they expected me to vote for McCain and subject myself to at least 4 more years of that. F#$% them and F#$% McCain. Obama FTW!!

rlocone
All, I can say "I wish him well" This is what comes to mind when I saw his speech. I know that you guys seen "The Rock" Brigadier General, Francis X. Hummel "I've choked on these lies all my life, here and now the lies STOP!" However, politician tend to change their views in the direction the wind blows. Obama, put your money where your mouth is. ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS. We'll see. Wonder who's gonna keep the network running for Mr. 250k to make money though... Oh well, not my problem.

Even though its wal-mart but still...
Fred Wilson
Yeah, whatever, but the socialism bit bugs me a little. If I have a business that makes more than $120k (youtube.com/watch?v=CBIISfcqXO0), I'll get a tax increase and that money will go to minorities that don't work or pay taxes. You should work for what you have, at least that's always been my point of view.
Snubs
I am FINALLY proud to be an American. Maybe, finally, I could go to a bar in Ireland and be happy to say I am an American, instead of pretending I'm Canadian :P

bobisn'tabuilder
What bothers me is that it seemed everyone loved Bush when he lowered taxes but now they blame him. Also the taxes for Obama is if you make 250k or more which I don't you have to pay more. But it that fair yes and no yes you do make more money but to be forced to pay more because you work hard for your money and then those who (No not everyone but yet some) don't work hard and do drugs or arne't working get the money yet they don't work hard. Yes some do work hard extremely hard but to have the rich pay for the poor. No. how about what is making people poor. Taxes lowered, people taking loans but not responsibility and yet now those who are responisble have to bail them out for not being repsonsible. Where is the resposibilty for these people? They take loans and not pay them back and have everyone else pay. That's whats not fair. America needs to have people with integrity not higher taxes and a big brother goverment. Do these people have cable and internet do they know ow to manage money and that those aren't necesities. To some it all up America is going down the toobs. VaKo
If your earning hundreds of thousands / millions of $£€ a year, then you can afford to more tax than someone who is earning an average wage. We live in an age where people think they are entitled to anything they want, across the board. People who live on credit need to learn to live within there means and people who are rich need to learn that they will have to contribute more than people on the breadline. Someone who earns over $250K can afford a few more K$ in taxes, if the can't then they need to manage there finances better and stop thinking they are entitled to multiple vacations, new cars etc, just as someone on minimum wage needs to stop buying flat screen TV's on credit. But if all you have is $200 a week, then $10 can make a huge difference. If your earning $5000 a week, $50-$100 extra in taxes isn't going to hurt you. And if your a banker or similar earning millions a year, the you need to re-examine your morality if you think that you paying extra taxes is something you shouldn't do. All this talk of Obama's tax plans being socialism should have ended when your goverment started bailing out banks with tax payer money. Look at AIG, $140 billion in donations so far because they fucked up. If your a middle income family making $80-$100K between two working parents who would bail you out if your suddenly faced with negative equaity or one of you looses your job/gets sick? And in all honesty, internet access is becoming as nessacary as the other utilities, without it you have far less access to information, which in an information economy automatically means your opertunities are limited, which feeds back into you not being able to get a decent job. To some it all up America is going down the toobs. Wake up! Go back to your 1200 baud modem and tell me that. I don't what you're talking about, but the Internet is a necessity. Over fifty percent of American's don't have broadband. It's really a shame that in 2008, half of Americans don't know that high speed data access is more important than eating healthy food and getting enough sleep at night. Loony Guitarist
glad bushs reign of terror ends soon. Funny I thought it was the terrorists that started it all. no one seemed to voice that many problems with bush until we got attacked and he had to make a huge decision. I'm not saying that decision was right or wrong but he was the presidant at the time. if somthing like that happenes a year into Obama's term who's to say he's not going to have to make a decision that could lead to an even greater war... perhaps one on our own turf. The problem with americans is that we don't support our leaders no mater who they are. if they screw up or make decisions that we think are stupid we sit and complain until somone comes along promising all this change ( only time will tell if he makes good on all those promises ) I did not vote for Obama. not because of race or any other factor other than his polotics and what he stands for. but now that the american people have voted him presidant I will support Him 100% because I am an american and our leaders need all the support they can get. Do you? If not shut the fuck up and enjoy your lower taxes you racist hick. So to have an opinion based on reading and understanding the facts automatically makes you racist? or is he racist because he disagrees with some of Obama's polotics. Honistlly do we still have to try and make arguments about race? havent we grown passed that yet? the only racist people I still see are the ones who abuse their ethnicity to try to manipulate others. honistly can't we get past the stupid race thing already? Why do they have to be black? ;). No but serious business, not everyone on welfare is or black or Hispanic decent, have you ever see "My name is Earl"? There are people just like that in America. I don't recall him saying "black" he said "minority" where I live Whites are the minority. it's funny how everyone assumes that when we say minority we automatically mean "black"
Neinsager
[offtopic] Over fifty percent of American's don't have broadband. So you telling that about 50% of the American's are still living in the stone age. Holly cow Here in the Netherlands every one that (wants 2) connect 2 the internet is using broadband cable, Adsl(1 or 2) or Sdsl. There are no more stone age calling in (modem) account providers alive here in the Netherlands. [/offtopic] Gerard
