BraytonAK Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Looking for suggestions on quality Bit Torrent clients that don't have hidden spyware, etc. Also want something that's easy to use and doesn't look like some cheap Windows 3.1 File Manager. Quote
cooper Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 The curses-based ones written in Python serve me very well (btlaunchmanycurses). But I guess you're referring to WINDOWS Bittorrent clients. Quote
stingwray Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 uTorrent is brilliant, i moved to it from Azureus and it makes things so much easier. Only about 150KB and doesn't require installation, fast, simple, clean, perfect. Quote
Iain Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 uTorrent is brilliant .... Only about 150KB and doesn't require installation, fast, simple, clean, perfect. So that's perfect for a USB stick, isn't it? Quote
stingwray Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 You could run uTorrent from a Memory Stick if you wanted, nothing that should prevent it. Quote
fitzy Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 uTorrent is brilliant, i moved to it from Azureus and it makes things so much easier.Only about 150KB and doesn't require installation, fast, simple, clean, perfect. I also used to use Azrureus, but it is such a hog, uTorrent has all of the features that I used in Azureus, but it is tiny! Quote
comcipher Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Defiantly Azureus. Tons of features, very nice interface, and plenty of plug-ins available (I recommend the 3D Tracker View plug-in, its fun to watch from across the room). Enable the encryption for higher speeds. Quote
BraytonAK Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 glitch in the matrix. topic deja vu Oops! I really did use the Search gadget. Anything I searched with the word Torrent brought up all the same results, and nope ... it wasn't showing me a cached page. Quote
Uncle Toxie Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I used Azureus for some time but after the last update the thing started freezing up and just crapping out at random points, not to mention it seemed to be demanding more and more system resources. I switched over to uTorrent just last night and so far I like it a lot. Quote
paradox Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Definitely uTorrent for me. Super tiny, does everything a torrent client should. I never even TIRED azureus. Quote
T8y8 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I avoid Azereus like the plauge. I started with ABC, moved onto Arctic, and then settled on uTorrent. Quote
Bigbro69 Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 uTorrent. Started with Azureus; that was a major resource hog. Then tried BitComet; it's a good client... Now on uTorrent. The best feature is the scheduler, you have to try it. Quote
Neod101 Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 I'm sure I made a topic just like this a while ago... I think it was before the forum crash though. Quote
Rocold Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 I use Azureus. Never had a problem with it. I haven't updated it though, everytime I open it, it wants to update but I say no I like it the way it is, it just works. Quote
comcipher Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 I've never had any of the resource problems mentioned in this thread about Azureus. And the updates are well worth it, especially the last couple versions because they support torrent encryption which will often result in better download speeds. My roommate tried uTorrent for awhile, but then permanently switched to Azureus. Quote
TheZ Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 at first i used Azureus. but now i use µTorrent :P Quote
