Swathe
I know most of us consider ourselves nerds/geeks but how many of us show it to the whole world. I say we need to start. I am wearing my propeller hat today to work and sure some people think I'm a tosser but I don't give a shit. After all, they ring me to fix their PC. soundguymike
I seem to let people know without trying. I was talking to a few friends at a coffee shop and one said "my nerdometer is maxing out" And he is a computer science major and wearing a shirt that said so many books and so little time. So when you can make a pretty geeky person state in public that he is getting uncomfortable because the conversation is too nerdy I think I'm doing it right. Kyle 2.0
People at work have teased me for being "nerdy" in their words. And, in law enforcement, once people find something they can tease you about, they will only stop if they see it doesn't get a reaction from you. So, naturally my solution was to ramp up the nerdiness. I call it my "In your face approach," and it is a success.
Deags
swathe is such a bludger. i don't generally parade around. how ever i have been known to wear a pedobear shirt AND every now and then i wear a classically trained shirt(with the nintendo controller). Then again thats just me. I like to be one of the people. I hate when people goto extremes to stand out(gay people, metro guys(gay), goths, emo's, punk rockers, indie fuckin rockers). How ever i don't mind if thats actually their normal attire because you can generally tell if they are putting on a show or not. When it comes to fun i normally like to wear my brooks and dunn shirt. I'm generally known as a bit of a computer person so the brooks and dunn shirt just throws people WAY OFF. Also my flipsyde shirt lol. Swathe
We more or less have to keep telling the noobs to restart their PC's. And i'm not a bludger. I got AD open on the other monitor lol.
Ethan Hunt
I actually got a bunch of T-Shirts to show/prove my nerdiness to the world. They are not understood 99% of the time, but the 1% some1 gets it, I'm so nerdy-proud. - hak5 shirt - I'm only here because my server is down. - There's not place like 127.0.0.1 - The sun is trying to kill me. - Social Engineering specialist. Because there's no patch for human stupidity. - There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who can read binary and those who can't. - Stop laughing, computers are cool now. - God, save my files. Oh, and the laptop being a standard item in my backpack that rarely leaves my sight doesn't exactly say I work in carpentering. Nerd Pride! Snubs
When I was working at Domino's Pizza back in Missouri, I couldn't wear anything other than the uniform criteria, but I could play music. So I would play the BOL podcast in the morning, and Pure Pwnage soundtrack, along with J-pop. It was pretty awesome when a customer would recognize something on the cd player/ipod I had hooked up. These days, I sport my geeky clothing from jinx and thinkgeek, and I have plenty of keychains involving ram/anime/and things that I put on my purse :P I have 'nerdy' ringtones on my cell... The Final Fantasy Battle finale music, Zelda tunes, Pure Pwnage, and hak5 to name a few. I'm proud of my nerdyness! We all should be! Deveant
:( im a brand whore... I cant say i own anything nerdy, i have friends with no knowledge of computers who wear geek clothing just because they see others wearing it. I just wear Skate / Surf brand clothing (Aus). such as Volcom, Billabong, ripcurl. i dont see a point in going out of my way to say that im a geek. Zelda??? Hmmm interesting. I can see it now. Sitting in a meeting... all of a sudden you hear this tinny zelda music coming from somewhere. People are looking around the room at each other with confused looks on their faces.
Swathe
I dont go out of my way to say I'm a geek. I just am a nerd and not ashamed of the fact. I'm not the stereo typical nerd (small and weak etc) but it wouldn't worry me if I was.
Kyle 2.0
There may have been a law enforcement vehicle rolling code with Star Wars music blaring at some point today....I'm not admitting to anything, but it may have happened on more than one occasion. When I used to work in IT, we didn't have uniforms, so it was strictly thinkgeek type clothing. Our bosses actually encouraged it. It was a university IT dept. so we had a lot of leeway in what we did.

Timmay313
I have been known to style the classic "old school gaming" T with a pick of Pacman in 8 bit. countless nintendo shirts from super mario to donkey kong. although i do wear a shirt and tie to work every day i have yet to break out the pocket protector and black frame glasses with tape on them. it never fails though when i hear students talking about a new or old game i saprise most of them when i can jump in the conversation. i have often herd "What? Mr. Miller is a gamer? but he is old!" Old at the age of 28 how sad.
Loony Guitarist
When I was working at Domino's Pizza back in Missouri... Yay Missouri!! the allergy capitol of the US. (sneezes) It's still home though! We have a business casual dress code at work but when I'm lounging around at home I am usually wearing some kind of geek shirt or christian shirt. Limbo
I really like to use quotes from The Simpsons, Futurama, How I met your mother and expecially from The Big Bang Theory, but people never catch my quotes. Only one friend of mine gets them. And sometimes we're loughing really hard about some Simpsons jokes, but nobody else gets the joke and they're just looking at us with those big eyes :) . I think that's how I naturally show that I'm a nerd, and I'm proude of. Or the times when someone is discussing something about physics, or computers, or CERN, or WiFi, and I'm realising they have no clue what they're talking about, so I help out and join the discussion with something like "Acctually the MAC is only 48Bit and not 256Bit. You're thinking about your WEP Key or probably about your IP.... do you use DHCP?... and it's DNS not DMS... do you have a Router or a Switch? - I own a what what???... Do I have to use WPA?... The thing you sayed with the thing where you put numers in, that's a what again?... Where can I download WEP?" And I'm realising, man, I'm going a million miles an houre for them, oops. That's when I realise I'm a totally nerd. But since 3 weeks ago I have my best eyecatcher ever and so finally everyone gets to know I'm a nerd. It's my book "Quantum Computation and Quantum Information" by Nielsen and Chuang, which is a really good book. I love to see people turning their heads upsidedown just to read the title and then stare at me, and look me over, like they can't belive someone is really reading that stuff. Sometimes they try to read in my book and if they can, they read a few lines and then they begin to smile and shake their heads. And I can see them seacretly pointing at my book so theire friends would also read my title. That's soooo funny. I love those moments. I while ago I thought about wrapping a Harry Potter cover around my book, because some guys called me a show-of, but then I thought why to hide, just because I'm a little nerdy and some fags think I'm a show-of, who cares about what other people think. Now those moments when people stare at my book, that's when I'm most proud of being a nerd! OT, but funny story: Once a women red the title and then tryed to read in my book, she sat vis-Ã -vis in the train. But she always checked if I was looking at her. So I gave her a better look into the book and I could see her starting to read and she totally forgot about to check if I noticed her reading. So I looked her right in the eyes and begun to smile :D and suddenly she looked up in my face and as she saw me smiling she flushed, I've never seen a women getting such a read face, she must have been so embarrassed :-) Then I asked her if she was a physicist, but she wasn't. So I asked her if she was interested in quantumphysics, but she replied "I'm not in to those smart guys things". :D :D
g-ram
I watch the big bang theory and half the time when sheldon or any of the other "nerds" talk about something, i usually know what they are talking about.. then I go on to explain it during the next commercial break.
