  1. Hey guys...nothing i love more than kickin' back having a few bourbons and diving head first into technology... Check this : Build an Apple 1 I reckon something like this would make a great "ol' skool" segment for the next season... What do you guys think ?? oh yah.....cheer! *clink
  2. Id like to see him try that with my XPS M1730!
  3. Thank you Vako, it's good to know that all Hak5 fans opinions are valued, even ones that conflict with your narrow minded sense of self importance.
  4. ^^ in the current age of emails and sms text where it's widely accepted that grammar, punctuation and proper sentence construction are not compulsory in order to be understood, that's such a ignorant attitude.
  5. Maybe just maybe...this poor guy really needed some help. Just a simple..."dude check your manual and you'll probably find a reset button that can be pressed to return the router to its default settings" It really gives me the shits sometimes to see some people's "elitist" attitudes towards people completely new to computers. Maybe he's legit, maybe he's not...but to not give a straight simple answer just makes hak5 fans look like a bunch of dicks and no better than the ego driven phuktards who hacked hak5. Grown up you douche bags.
  6. SO...what kind of router is it?

    nmap ?

Here's a thought...you could approach him and ask if he has "accidentally" been using your wifi and if he has his own internet access, (you could say you need to know because your network caught a OMFG virus or some shit). Reasoning?...maybe if has no net access of his own, he may like to contribute some cash for your monthly bill for some legitimate access...you could always QOS his connection anyway. If he's an asshole about it, let him know that you'll be turning over your system logs over to the police, (even if you don't, he won't know that) Adavantages with this approach...maybe you could make a new buddy and help subsidise your monthly outlay....worst case scenario, you've learned a little about security and had an opportunity to develope some social engineering skills.
  8. Thanks for all your efforts moonlit, you really went the distance on this one. Much appreciated :)
  9. Hey there...i came across this item on ebay...a small lcd, which are always handy for different projects. Problem is this guy selling has NFI what this thing does or whether it accepts input from composite or whatever... Ebay Item Can anyone help with information on this thing? It looks like there might be an input at one end but he doesn't make this clear...the part number is given but google returns a plethora of OMFG results... Help!
  10. Thanks snubs for the link to the post. It all helps!!
  11. Forthcoming?...yeah i'd have to agree with that, for sure. But i'd rather them fix the issue and fully understand what happened, why and make sure that it has a low probability of happening again. I can certainly understand peoples eagerness to know WTF details, but we're fans not shareholders...i am positive that the hak5 crew feel as violated as we do.
  12. Yeah and i totally agree, but i was just referring to the linux appeal to the "masses".
  13. Well i know that this shit happens....its bound to... I'm sure that once the hak5 team are aware of what happened and why.....we'll get a complete explaination. Meanwhile...i like to use Steve Gibson's site for passwords.... https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm
  14. Im messing with linux atm...and i love it, it's bloody awesome. But until they can run a game (ie any major title) straight out the box from a retailer, in linux without the need to use an emulation or interpretive layer or shell or whatever else you want to argue with, people are not going to readily embrace linux. Why are consoles so popular?...coz games work straight outta the box. Even windows ppl have to contend with possibility of their chosen game not running as it should without a little or a lot of tweaking and even these little trivial problems can cause the most loyal pc gamers to opt for an easier console option... Why should linux be adopted as a gaming platform when we're faced with shit like this.
  15. I'd still like to think that they (the dickheads) are still going to get their asses handed to them through ....oh i dunno a ritualistic shallow grave beat down...underbelly style.
  16. i abhorr violence but in this case tek screwing their testicles to a sheet of gyprock would be a nice punishment to these dickheads.
  17. Well in response and if the odd chnce that a cop car full of nerds actually makes it into my neighbourhood alive, i've changed my SSID to "KEEP DRIVING WARPIGS!!!!"
  18. This sucks ass.. http://www.smh.com.au/technology/security/...90721-drqb.html
  19. Here's some suggestions... http://www.nch.com.au/vrs/voxrec.html You could probably get away with using some other cheaper alternatives with some tagging and catalog scripts/batch stuff. Depends on your application dude, i mean are you looking for a software or hardware tool?
  20. I cannot confirm nor deny that I may have come into contact or possession of certain contraband materials.
  21. something similar to this maybe ? http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/15/how-to-...d-dish-antenna/
  22. An excellent topic! If it's a valid argument, that would make me and many others homocidal maniacs. Just think about the amount of detachment we feel when gunning down thousands of people in FPS games and the like. I mean just the other day a friend of mine got hold of a demo for Red Faction guerilla for xbox360 and I spent the entire round hunting and killing the civilian population the instead of the "bad guys". This sounds kinda sick, right?...but is it?....i didn't hurt anyone. the characters weren't real. I just deviated a hell of a lot from the games objective. Does this make me a weirdo? How many ppl have come across that "weirdo" at lan parties who spends more time killing everyone including his team mates than pursuing the main objectives? Just a few points...nice topic VaKo
  23. wrt54g router running ddwrt. all outside requests are routed to an ip address on my network that doesn't exist. works really well.
