  3. hey there...well we're all still here thank God. the cyclone is weakening and hopefully will double back on itself and turn in a rain depression. when a cyclone hits cat5 in queensland...and when it starts to come down the coast..we get real worried... but at the moment all ok.. thanks again for everyone thinking of us..
  4. Thanks everyone for your support and good wishes. We have been monitoring the cyclone very closely over the last 24hrs...thank God the warning at this stage has been cancelled...the cyclone is sloowly moving south, tracking along the queensland coast heading towards the folks in Hervey Bay and Bundaberg, which is where bundy rum comes from).. It looks like this one will move on and not bother us...this time... Once again...thankyou for your posts...it's great to be part of such a community...we may flame each other and hang shit but when the chips are down...we're all human.,.thanks
  5. I've just checked the latest warning it's now a Cat 5, winds up to 295km/hr in the centre. we have some time to gtfo...if so we're heading west. Funny thing everyone is so calm...possibly complacent even... Hopefully when it hits the whitsundays it MAY take some of the puff out of it... apart from that i just don't know what's gonna happen.
  6. We have a cyclone (or a hurricane as you yanks call it) coming our way on the east coat of Australia. Here's the tracking map : http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml Im in Mackay and this thing will be close. By tomorrow it wil be a Category five....Katrina was a VERY huge category four (respect!)...although I'm not sure whether there is any difference between the Australian or Yank systems of rating these things. Cyclone Category System CATEGORY 1 Negligible house damage. Damage to some crops, trees and caravans. Craft may drag moorings. A Category 1 cyclone's stongest winds are GALES with gusts to 125 km/h. These winds correspond to Beaufort 8 and 9 (Gales and strong gales). CATEGORY 2 Minor house damage. Significant damage to signs, trees and caravans. Heavy damage to some crops. Risk of power failure. Small craft may break moorings. A Category 2 cyclone's strongest winds are DESTRUCTIVE winds with gusts of 125 -170 km/h. These winds correspond to Beaufort 10 and 11 (Storm and violent storm). CATEGORY 3 Some roof and structural damage. Some caravans destroyed. Power failures likely. A Category 3 cyclone's strongest winds are VERY DESTRUCTIVE winds with gusts of 170 - 225 km/h. These winds correspond to the highest category on the Beaufort scale, Beaufort 12 (Hurricane). CATEGORY 4 Significant roofing loss and structural damage. Many caravans destroyed and blown away. Dangerous airborne debris. Widespread power failures. A Category 4 cyclone's strongest winds are VERY DESTRUCTIVE winds with gusts of 225 - 280 km/h. These winds correspond to the highest category on the Beaufort scale, Beaufort 12 (Hurricane). CATEGORY 5 Extremely dangerous with widespread destruction. A Category 5 cyclone's strongest winds are VERY DESTRUCTIVE winds with gusts of more than 280 km/h. These winds correspond to the highest category on the Beaufort scale, Beaufort 12 (Hurricane). Safe to say tho we more than a little concerned...
  7. I guess its about your ability to obtain and retain knowledge and then use that to unlearn what you have learned.
  8. I always wanted a cool handle ....but i got stuck with Mnemonic because it was easy to remember :) Altho a lot of ppl used to think that it was just something i stole from a movie... i dunno...maybe i'll still search for a handle.. an identity but ... on topic tho....i watched the doco and enjoyed it..i showed my old man who still didn't get it...meh life goes on
  9. Id say start looking into the technologies that are being used in mobile phone jammers and perhaps the components of these devices..the theory behind them etc. Maybe there's other viable options out there that you can put together to produce a similar result for wifi. Just a idea tho..i always find my wrt54g router running ddwrt always "drowns" out other wifi signals when im in close vicinity to it with my laptop....maybe a jammer could be created by simply running a FON and boosting its output????? just a thought really... Things i found: http://blog.itsecurityexpert.co.uk/2007/06...jamming_22.html http://www.metacafe.com/watch/953946/how_t...uetooth_jammer/
  10. Yeah lurking is a lost art...i often get the distinct feeling that people post useless threads and silly opinions for the sake of increasing their post count and status. I for one would like to see the user rating status removed completely ie, hak5 zombie , hak5 fan etc. Why is having it so important if not to build egos..
  11. honestly i'd use it if i could get one for no more than $50
  12. Eviltechie...you just have to look mate http://www.docstoc.com/docs/131683/The-CIA...of-Dirty-Tricks
  13. Maybe one approach would be to have them create an online persona that they can adopt for chat rooms etc... A persona with a bit of depth that is
  14. I just really think of the future and the way these things are going in terms of greater market share way down the track.. When more and more of these things flood the market one day every home will have two or three of these things laying around..
  15. Ah well just goes to show how you should fucking search endlessly for similar or remotely similar or possibly any fucking threads containing a phrase or a word you plan to use, just so you don't duplicate. I apologise in advance for wasting two or maybe three mouse clicks of your tiime.
  16. http://www.marvell.com/featured/plugcomputing.jsp Omagine having a power board full of these things!!
  17. I used to program telephone exchange equipment, pairgain mutiplexers, adsl injection ports and a whole heap of other telco stuff once upon a time.
  18. No problemo dude...its given me some ideas too!
  19. Yeah it does look a bit sore...i've seen worse tho.
