  1. +1 Xcellerator. Fantastic find. We have a feature coming which should provide more situation awareness, including current clients (karma or otherwise).
  2. I have 7 modems on my desk right now! ZOMG I'm never going offline again!
  3. I normally don't troll but this is a constant occurrence in my feeds. Thought I might share. Happy Friday Happy Hackers!
  4. That is really strange. What's the file system of your SD card? Does it do this with a fresh install? 1.4.1 just came out - can you try it on that?
  5. DrDinosaur, thanks for bringing this up - we'll think about how to best display this information going forward.
  6. I'm sure there's a way to get tmux going - I just don't know what that may be. After playing with it I see it might be more intuitive than screen if you're new to terminal multiplexers.
  7. I was able to reproduce your issue. When issuing tmux list-sessions I find tmux not running. root@Pineapple:~# tmux list-sessions failed to connect to server: Connection refused So I tried again with this script #!/bin/bash sleep 5; tmux new -s new-Win And boot mode string: touch /tmp/started-tmux; /root/start-tmux.sh And this is what I get root@Pineapple:~# tmux list-sessions failed to connect to server: Connection refused root@Pineapple:~# ls /tmp/started* /tmp/started-tmux root@Pineapple:~# So the script is running and the problem seems to be with tmux. I'm new to this program (I usually use screen) so I'm not aware of anything that needs to be done off the top of my head. Just to make sure it's running as root I installed the whoami coreutil root@Pineapple:~# opkg install coreutils-whoami Installing coreutils-whoami (8.16-1) to root... Downloading http://cloud.wifipineapple.com/mk5/packages/coreutils-whoami_8.16-1_ar71xx.ipk. Configuring coreutils-whoami. root@Pineapple:~# whoami root And added whoami > /tmp/whoami as a boot mode and rebooted with the DIPS switched. Here are the results: root@Pineapple:~# cat /tmp/whoami root So the boot mode scripts are being kicked off by root. Hope this helps!
  8. What filesystem is the 8GB SD? Does it re-mount on eject / reinsert? This is the first I've heard of this issue. I've always just pulled the plug without issue.
  9. Similar issue with Kali https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?20582-HOW-TO-FIX-Airodump-ng-fixed-channel-1-Kali-kernel-3-12-also-on-rt2870-3070usb
  10. Might I also recommend Metasploit Minute and this thread: https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/913-hacking-where-to-begin/
  11. That's a pretty sweet Pi interface! Would love to see what you come up with Pineapple wise. As Seb said the source is php and javascript. Super easy to modify, even from the device. I just did an update to the network tile using nano from the MK5 in fact. Most everything is CSS based so it should be pretty simple to skin. There's even a CSS editor right in the web interface under Configuration.
  12. +1 Looks like wicked hardware and cyanogenmod preinstalled. Nice. Wishing they weren't doing this viral marketing campaign for invites to buy -- but hey, look, it's working!
  13. This is why: It's actually rather elegant. Here's an old Hak5 episode on the topic:
  14. buckboy223, sorry the pineapple hasn't been behaving well. Please contact the hakshop and we'll get you sorted at no additional cost ASAP. For anyone else experiencing these issues: 1) If the card reads in your computer it's most likely good. The cards we ship are sort of basic get-you-started cards for the purpose of firmware loading and standard setup and should work for most use cases - it's not until you start doing logging or hosting large sites that you'll need to upgrade. 2) If the card files on the card are bad you'll get the amber blinking on first boot. Format the card, copy the factory files over and try again. 3) Now, if you can't get into recovery mode from the DIP switches - THEN we have a problem. Let us know and we'll make sure we get you up and running.

  16. SNAKES ^H^H^H^H^H^H PINEAPPLES ON A PLANE!!!! In all seriousness it's likely considered a loose battery hence it should go carry-on. New regs since 2008: http://safetravel.dot.gov/whats_new_batteries.html I've never had an issue with any of the pineapple juice batteries, 18650s, even RC lipos. Not necessary. Also never a good idea to completely drain a battery. Some battery basics: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/do_and_dont_battery_table
  17. Initial list is up: wifipineapple.com/modems First two videos in the mobile broadband series: I have more modems inbound for testing!
  18. Hey guys, I feel I should be making these a bit more frequently to give you all a heads up on what's going on in the world of the WiFi Pineapple. A lot of exciting stuff in the works. In no particular order: - Seb has been working tirelessly on some pretty fantastic new features we hope to debut by DEFCON. On the way there we've released firmware 1.4.0 which I'm absolutely loving for its speed and karma filters and networking features. - I've kicked off a mobile broadband series on Pineapple University and am looking to add many more videos soon. We'll likely need to give uni.wifipineapple.com some love as well. - Coupled with the mobile broadband video series I've updated the wiki with a page containing known working modems. Check it out at wifipineapple.com/modems and please contribute if you have a working configuration. - I'm testing more modems from various carriers here in the US and hope to find something unlocked and readily available which we can call our "gold standard modem" - An update to the Network tile changes the mobile broadband configuration tab to include drop-downs for common config variable. This should simplify the modem setup process. - A build guide with source to the modified openwrt from which we develop the pineapple has been posted to the wiki allowing you to compile your own sysupgrade file or cross-compile binaries compatible with the mk5 architecture. - We have client mode adapters on the way which we'll make available as soon as it gets here at cost in the hakshop. Cheap hardware, w00t. - Continued pineapple drone research. Looking forward to recording the next set in our series on autonomous flight and dreaming up possibilities for a wifi pineapple enabled flight controller. - The HDK is still in the works with all efforts at getting it here in time for defcon. We're also working on a guide leading up to the arduino based HDK which will document how to interface with the expansion bus headers. - Migration of main wifipineapple.com site from dedicated server to Amazon finished. Scaling is pretty sweet. No more service interruptions!!! - Contemplating a dinosaur related code name for the next release =) As always super excited about the development and proud of this community. Thanks for making the WiFi Pineapple what it is.
  19. Thanks for the details - we may be able to sort this out in firmware.
  20. Check the Upgrading manually section from https://wifipineapple.com/?flashing
  21. I was able to create a new infusion on 1.4.0 without issue from the pineapple bar.
  22. Supported WiFi adapters: https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/32638-supported-high-throughput-client-mode-radios/ Supported 3G/4G adapters: ...coming really soon... Information on Bluetooth support in OpenWRT: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/usb.bluetooth Successful Bluetooth Tethering: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=21211
  23. Probably - the battery charger is within tolerances. It provides 12.6v however it also contains the charging circuit so I'm not sure what it would do if/when power consumption fluctuates. Also any excess current will simply be turned to heat. Let's go with sure, but probably not the best solution. If your charger died just contact the shop and we'll get you a replacement. When you say it worked the first time, is that the only time it worked? If so, for how long was it running and under what circumstances? Have you contacted the shop with your order #?
  24. Be sure to include your MK5 serial number and order number when contacting the shop. We're committed to getting you a working pineapple and if there's a manufacturing issue we can identify it by the production run numbers so any help squashing bugs in this regard is greatly appreciated. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks again for your patience.
