  1. The composite duck firmwares will let it be both a keyboard and a keyboard. That's how I have mine set up. Plug it in and it's a thumb drive, hit capslock four times and it starts typing.
  2. Heh, reminds me of this. This was from the first Shmoocon I ever went to. Also the first time I met Darren. One of the guys I was hanging with was on the city wide wifi project for Philly. He brought one of the radios so we had our own personal secure wifi in the bar/lobby of the hotel.
  3. Now you need to go to a gun store and pick up a bag of shotgun shot. They make good weights for tripods.
  4. Most new set top cable and satellite boxes are MoCa certified. That's how you can watch stuff on one dvr from another "dumb" box on the cable network. I've never seen anything that can do wireless though. Our cable guy buried a new cable when we moved into the new house. They usually do that as part of a normal install. Cable doesn't have to be that deep, just a foot or so since it's low voltage. It's a couple hundred feet from the pole to where it comes into the house, under a gravel driveway. Took them 15 minutes to pull the cable.
  5. Run wire. Wireless doesn't have the bandwidth.
  6. Just don't sell them all at defcon! I'll probably be picking up a couple at derbycon!
  7. If the threads are on the outside of the connector, it's male, if the threads are on the inside of the connector, it's female. The polarity has to do with the center conductor of the connector. SMA has the pin on the female side, like the pineapple. RP-SMA has it on the male side, like every consumer wifi product you can buy. The more you know.... Crap, have the threads backwards... Male is threads on the inside, female is threads on the outside.
  8. If the pressure sensors are going off all the time, he needs to get it checked. The only time the ones in our Juke go off is in the fall when it starts getting colder and the pressure drops in the tires. Also, pretty sure his pacemaker isn't going to do crap to the sensor signals.
  9. So far the only time I've come across this is when some asshat read it in a book once, set it up, then gets fired sometime later, without documenting the damn switch password. Usually this happened years ago and they can't get ahold of the dude and we have to start all over resetting up vlans and whatnot.
  10. Hey, if it works, it's worth it. There aren't many companies that make ruggedized waterproof cases for phones. The most you're going to find is those pos ziplock bag dry cases that don't offer any ruggedization. Unless you're an iUser, then you have lifeproof, their cases are awesome. I was mainly just posting this case to give you an idea on mounting. You could go old school and mount a Casio A-20 to your arm ala Resident Evil.
  11. Looks like you're doing it wrong. You don't need any of that running to install infusions. You just need to put the pineapple in client mode.
  12. True, but a ziplock bag wouldn't survive this. Not the same case, but the same class of case. This is what these cases are made for. The average civilian just doesn't need it, so they don't sell that many, which is partially why they cost so much.
  13. My camera housing was made with one of these. With one of these and these at one end. With a piece of plexi glass cut to fit inside the other end. I used silicone to seal the plexi in place. Depending on your web cam, or usb camera, you could go down in size for everything. Try to use the white pvc or abs pipe and not the black. No need to cook your electronics. I didn't see the need to put anything on the threads of the cleanout plug, just snugged it up. Rain isn't under pressure so you're really not going to get any water inside. Like I said before, I just plugged the bottom with closed cell foam they use to pack computers in their boxes. I cut a slit in the plug so the network cable could come out and made sure it was pointing down. Any condensation will drip out the hole, or will just evaporate.
  14. True, but your Note 3 isn't waterproof.
  15. What would really be the bee's knees would be to remove the 4 ports off the wrt, solder them to a 5 port switch, hook the 5th to a pineapple board, use a couple sma to rp-tnc bulkhead pigtails, and make it look like a normal wrt-54g, but really be a pineapple! The whole thing should run off the standard wrt wall wart. The cables I found are rp-sma, so you'd need a couple adapters.
  16. For the most part, cameras are like the police. They don't prevent crime, they're just a deterrence, and take pictures of the aftermath. I've installed 40 of these at a client site. http://www.security-camera-warehouse.com/the-wasp-pro-3-0-43230.php A half dozen of these. http://www.security-camera-warehouse.com/the-guardian-pro-3-0-41230.php And 5 or 6 of these. http://www.security-camera-warehouse.com/the-sentinel-pro-2-0-ir-46420.php They all record to a shared DVR with about 30Tb of drive space. The zoom on the ptz is freaking awesome. The red dumpsters are about 200 feet from the camera, which is 40 feet in the air.
  17. I've actually found client's default gateway in the middle of the ip range. No clue why they had it that way, but I wasn't going to change it. Too many statically assigned devices. I also see them at 254 as well. It's best to just do the ipconfig, or ifconfig. Yes, I was trolling...
  18. SMA is a connector type. LMR is a cable type. TV coax and microwave coax are not compatible. Have a look at www.fab-corp.com
  19. Holy crap people! There already is a book. It's an e-book. Here's the link.
  20. When I click that link I get "Page not found".
  21. D-link used to make little ip cameras that looked like half a soda can. I had one of these in a home made enclosure mounted to a tv antenna on the roof of my house for a couple years. The enclosure was a 4" to 2" pvc y fitting. One side of the 4" part had a cleanout fitting so I could get into it. The other side had a plexiglass window siliconed in place. All the wires went down and out the 2" part and I "sealed" it with that semiridged foam computer come packed in. You don't want it air tight, it will fog up. Worked great until I accidently pluged the wrong power supply into my home made poe adapter. Fried the camera.

  23. Looks like a standard camera tripod. Get you a length of pipe, if it's short, pvc would even work, if not, use a 1" or so piece of electrical conduit. Drill a 1/4" hole through the center of the pipe. Use a 1/4-20 by however long bolt to attach the pipe to the tripod. Pretty sure the antennas come with the U bolts, so just reposition them so you can attach them to the pipe. It would be best to mount the antennas to the pipe before attaching to the tripod. That way you can set the whole shebang on a table to keep them aligned with each other. Pineapple is just tip tied or velcroed to the tripod.
  24. How not to get hacked over wifi, the book. A really really short book... Chapter 1. The safe use of open wifi. DON'T USE OPEN WIFI! Chapter 2. Passwords Passwords are like underwear. They should be changed often. The end.
