    I'm back

I don't think so. I woulda taken privledges away for at least 30 days.
  2. I like that we just need to mod it for hak.5 forums.
  3. Garda actually posted the first link, but it didn't get front page action for some reason: http://www.digg.com/security/Silently_back...B_keys_to_gmail
  4. Everything gameman733 and I tried simply did not work. So another thing that could help is if you could post the images you sent Darren. (use www.kimag.es if you have to). Thanks, Manuel
  5. /me refuses read that simply because it has not natural breaks. Dude, Spek, I sincerely hope that you do not turn in your school work like that. At least take pride in your writing, and in yourself byu showing others that you can write properly. That is all I have to say. -Manuel
  6. I'd say change it for continuity, but I like the inidivuality that the forums has with the current logo.
  7. I think its been stated fairly clear here, but..... as a sys admin of a school, simply dont do it. but if you are affraid of getting into trouble, write an intelligent letter to the sys admins explaining the problem.
  8. We all feel that way sometimes. :)
  9. are you asking about help to create a rainbow table? see the hak5 wiki http://www.hak5.org/wiki/Community_Rainbow_Tables
  10. I think you're just crazy mad; foaming at the mouth and everything mad. You seriously need help, which we can't provide without a license. :)
  11. NOO!!, Bad Darren, bad! *Shoots with water-spray bottle* LOL Why not OS/2 Warp?

    Best Anti-Virus

I voted for norton, but only because I am used to the corporate version of SAV. The consumer version sucks royally, and I would not recommend it. For customers that I deal with I recommend AVG. The Symantec AV Corporate Edition is nice because it is relatively simple and straight forward. -Manuel
  13. Even though individual logins would be nice, think of how many people will join when its mentioned on the show ( I assume that we won't be done by then). Perhaps a different idea: individual logins for those who are contributing right now, so that they (we) can help manage the files once it goes more public than it is. -Manuel

  15. Here's an update to the problem.... I had my meeting and thanks to many of the posts here and on IRC, While at the time I did not think it was rude, I have come to realize that that whole first line should have never been said, regardless of my attitude. I did explain to Dr. D and G_ why I had put that comment there and that I didn't intend it to be rude in anyway. I explained that I have been telling Mr. S many times over teh past years that I was not the one issues needed to be brought to and that I wanted to make sure he got the idea in writing, because until now it had all been verbal. I turned the table a bit and told him that use of his words offended me, so if that's the case should I email the board president? Same difference in my opinion. In the end They understood my reasonings (or so they said) but urged me to not reply to the emails anymore or at least simply stat "this message has been forwarded to G_" Nothing more, nothing less. (which I am perfectly fine with -- I actually suggested that idea). I was "encouraged" to simply forward them to G_. I did tell them both that I don't want to have another "Come to Daddy" meeting again if that happens because I will only be doing as per this conversation. As for Mr. S I don't think he was offended as the conversation only indicated that Dr. D. was the one who got offended. Then later G_ told me that Dr. D simply thinks the IT Department is too big already (with 4 people) and only 2 of us really out supporting end users. Its all good for now, but I already have a few job offers if it all goes back down the hill, so im good to go. :) Thanks again for the input and suggestions as it did help me put it all into perspective. -Manuel
  16. I guess I could have been rude by stating the obvious, but over the last couple of years, Mr. S (along with the majority of the people I work with) come to me. The real reason I added that line in the email was I had gotten yelled at by G_ fairly recently because he could not figure out why everyone comes to me first (perhaps because he is the one who sits behnd a desk on the phone most ofthe day, while I am the one most people see).... Dr. D is a relatively new boss and he wants to tighten the reigns a bit which is understandable, but I hardly ever am rude (unless pushed into it slowly over time). Thanks for the input from those here and in IRC. Your input is very usefull to me. Thanks.
  17. Ok here is an email that was sent to me by a superior: Here was my reply: And here was my bosses reply (Dr. D_______): I am asking for your opinons here. Did I come accross as being rude?
  18. Microsoft actually has a program for that: DisK Cleanup usually found in All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Cleanup. Or simply go to start, run cleanmgr.exe and click ok. :)
  19. I second this. All oppose? (you'd better say "Aye" or else.....!) :)
  20. Ok I was mixing up terms a bit, I can't really remember the one I'm thinking of right now "non fixed upload/download ratio", it's still full duplex though. And yes I have a 10mbit connection that other bandwidth measurments confirm that isn't show in this one, even though it looks pretty. I'm guessing it's a combination of it not using enough data to get an accurate value and possibly not having enough bandwidth. Perhaps I came off wrong, I don't know. But what I do know is because of your terminology being wrong I assumed you had no clue waht you were talking about. Full duplex is usually a term menat for LAN connections. I should not have assumed, but you gotta admit (which you already did) that the wrong terminology was used. I think you actually mean syncronous connection as in dedicated/almost garanteed in both directions. Again, I'll eat a bite of that crow, as long as you're willing to admit that you need to take a bite too. :) -Manuel
  21. Jool: I think that screen shot just further proves what I was saying, but FFS I'll shut up becuase regardless of what I think you very well could have higher speeds than that. my last statement on this is try another speedtester, such as http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1 ... if your not happy with the one started in this discussion. All I ask is that you post the results here to prove to me and others that you are seeing the descreptencies. k, thnx.
  22. jool: I hate to say it, but you are looking at the wrong thing then.... The speed you are referencing is most likely the speed that your local area network (lan) is. THis test and other bandwidth tests check the speed of your connection to the Internet in General. THis means if you have DSL then it tests the speed of the DSL whioch is usually 1.5mbit up and 768kbps down. The only other way you could have that high bandwidth if its not your local LAN, is if you have something like fiber or a really decent cable modem.

    Email

Thanks! I really was thinking that at the time when the students emailed that. :) if/when they email me and say that they cant get some site to work, I get to be a devil and play with their minds. I'll observe their computer and see what site they are visiting. Then I'll block pages like google.com, watch them try close everything out, relogon and try again. It won't work so they log off and move to another computer and in the mean time I give access back. THey think oh cool it was that computer. Then I let them get one or two pages in and block it again. Then just as I see them attempting to email me, I unblock it and play dumb, like hmm are you sure somethings not wrong with your account because I can access it just fine. Although, since I really can't be that mean (for long), I do eventually tell them what happened and that if they want me to take them seriouls they need to be more specific as to what exactly is blocked and what they need. So far those few kids that I have done that to have really put more thought into their emails when they need help. AS for the others posting in this thread, I like some of the ideas. But metatron I have no kids so I say cut his finger off and tape it to the letter, Sparda I have no "gibson" (so to speak), but I do have a "King-Arthur", Spider I am "Agent Smith", and lastly Cosmo my spam settings block 1337$p3ak. :D -Manuel
