My, oh my does somebody like to digg up old news..... anyhow, you can throw that in too for extra goo measure, but I wasn't just limiting my comments to hak.5 forums.

    Bar Codes

zebex barcode reasers are great, but almost anything could work. If in US, CDW could be one source for you.
  5. Oh oh  Well I do suppose this is intended for newer members, but just thought I knew I had answered that question a while back...
  6. Didn't we already have this question a while back? http://www.hak5.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1376 :p
  7. Other: Looney Tunes (the older versions).

  10. I'd have to say: I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you and everyone else reading this thread.
  11. This is eaxctly what I was thinking.... AS I FUCKING STATED ALREADY..... don't lie to us. When can catch a lier from many, many miles away.
  12. ok... From hacking school macs to hacking his dads winxp pro machine back to hacking his dads mac... We really believe you... And for the record I will not calm down, only because as an adult you realize that kids are INDEEED trying to learn, but instead are simply trying to break way too many things without really thinking things through. Yes I was there once and in many was still am. I've said it many times before, that I became an admin by offering to help the local admins. it started with simply moving things around, then installing software, then eventually learning how to work with networking. I never did want to learn how to hack, rather I wanted to learn how things worked. Once you know that, then you can start playing with your OWN HOME network. All I will say is don't FUCKING lie. Many of us have been there and done that. We have the Knowledge and the Know-how. -Manuel
  13. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!one one one eleventyone!!!11111 be VERY happy that I am NOT your sys admin. I'd have you arrested for such a blantant attempt at breaking and entering, among many other computer crimes. Plus expell you from school, not just computers. Have you sent to youth prison. FYI WE Do NOT take kindly to FUCKING kids who want to HAXORS their SKOOL NETWORKZ. I am as serious as cancer, when I say walk away and don't even turn on your computer unitl you are 21 years of age. By that time you will have at least realized that hacking will lead you into more trouble than its worth. -Manuel, A friendly sys admin from Colorado, USA !vote lock thread

    Bar Codes

Great resource... However I should point out that most simple barcodes are generally code 39 (the kind that is on most store id cards). All barcodes have the same basic concept: The white areas is what the laser actually looks for (light bounces back to the laser).

    Bar Codes

Yes any barcode reader/scanner will read the same thing, assuming that the reader can understand that type of barcode (there are many different types).
  16. lol you are not alone in this line of thinking... I think it comes from knowing that there are many pieces of technolgy that seem great but fail time and time again. then there becomes too much familiarity with what we know and don't really want to learn what is new. Its kinda like the older generations, they want to learn some things, but they don't really care about the fine details.
  17. lol @ Darren. Nobody really cares about senior pranks, esp with geeky pranks. Ab blunt or mystic as Darren sounded with his post, he is very accurate with everything said. Manuel
  18. Wrong section of the forums... but do not double post, so one of the forum mods or admins will probably move this thread. basically the answer is NO. a non U3 drive can't be made into a U3 drive.
  19. We use Remote Admin from Radmin.com works great! or you can use Tight VNC as that works too. -Manuel
  20. something like: copy "c:pathtolocalfile.bat" "ipaddressc$pathtoremotefile.bat" -Manuel

    IT Jobs

basically I started being an admin for the school distrcit by offereing to volunteer my time to the learn and help the admin at that time. as time went on and as I became more reliable and trust worthy it developed into a full-time IT job. at a minimum go to www.brainbench.com and earn som certificates for knowledge if any or at least learn your strenghts and weaknesses and go from there. -Manuel
  22. While I haven't used it yet, Microsoft's sysprep tool will do just that. otherwise what we currently do is have seperate images for each computer type/model.
