  1. Take a look at the pineapple suprise posts in the mk5 section. The code has the sites ios and android devices hit for internet connectivity tests. Here it is. Had the link saved on my phone. https://github.com/troyhunt/PineappleSurprise/blob/master/index.php
  2. For ios devices, I've had to download the config to a desktop and sync it over with itunes.
  3. I've started converting my clients away from pptp vpn, cause well, it's not secure, and they're failing PCI compliance scans with pptp. Go to ipsec, or openvpn. https://sites.google.com/a/vorkbaard.nl/dekapitein/tech-1/how-to-set-up-ipsec-tunneling-in-pfsense-2-0-release-for-road-warriors https://itunes.apple.com/app/openvpn-connect/id590379981 https://forums.openvpn.net/openvpn-connect-ios-f36.html
  4. From my experience setting up corporate and public school wireless networks, if you have to use an amp, you're doing it wrong. I've been told the same thing from the guys that taught me. Though, we're not exactly using the amps for their intended use, but still, amps don't really help receive that much. They just amp the noise, as well as the marginal signal. Your device might, or might not be able to tune that out. A proper antenna should do much better than the wrong antenna and an amp.
  5. Unless you're trying to transmit miles away, amps aren't going to really help that much.
  6. No, it doesn't work that way with the wrt's. They have only one radio, one antenna is for transmit and the other is for receive. If you use a device with two radios, what you're thinking would work great.
  7. The charger light will eventually turn green. Takes a few hours.
  8. Damn you punctuation! Remember folks, a simple comma is the difference between; Helping your uncle jack, off a horse. and Helping your uncle jack off a horse!
  9. Not really. Have the bag over your shoulder while "talking" on the phone. Just stand there chatting away while changing body direction. Or sitting on a park bench with the bag sitting/leaning against your leg, like everybody does. Might need to reposition it a few times, but no one will give it a second thought. Besides, if you're looking at these directionals, you don't need to be that close in the first place.
  10. Here's the screen; http://phonepartsusa.com/thunderbolt/htc-thunderbolt-lcd-screen-digitizer-touch-screen-000513 and here's how to fix it; http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/HTC+Thunderbolt+LCD-Screen+Replacement/12660
  11. Why not just put a panel antenna on the side of the bag?
  12. Hey dude, just a heads up, have to install to internal memory, if installed to usb you can't configure anything.
  13. What does ls /pineapple/components/system/ give you when you ssh into the pineapple?
  14. CRAP!!! I think it's my auto start randomroll boot mode that's breaking it.. Have this as a boot mode. dnsspoof -i br-lan -f /etc/pineapple/spoofhost > /dev/null 2>/tmp/dnsspoof.log When it's on, I get no auto start karma. Not sure why though. Karma is in rc.d. Would moving it before dip_handler maybe work better? Yep, that fixes it. Moved karma's init number to S98 so it starts before the boot modes.
  15. Is autostart broken in the latest firmware? I have it selected, and it says it's selected on reboot, but karma isn't starting on reboot, but if I click the autostart link, karma starts automagically. Just asking before I do a clean install.
  16. It's also going to run the pineapple out of memory pretty damn quick.
  17. If I remember right ODBII is read only. You have to connect to the ecm under the hood to do changes.
  18. Maybe they got tired of you stealing their internet and changed the password.
  19. No one uses straight unix anymore, it's either bsd based or linux based. Unless you're one of those weird sgi irix users, but that's a pretty niche market.
  20. Uhhh, your "any length coax" is incorrect. You want to keep all coax lengths as short as possible to keep losses down. Unless you're using lmr-400(highly doubt it), most home wireless coax is lmr-195 or lmr-200. They both lose about 19db per 100ft of cable. lmr-400 loses about 6db at 100ft, but it's about a half inch in diameter! You also want to watch what kind of antenna you hook up with an amp. You can easily go over fcc(or your local authority) spec for transmit power. Also with the latest firmware you can change the region.
