  1. So here's my latest laptop pic. Guess since I can't actually afford to BARE arms, I can at least display it :)
  2. They are cigs, and I live in mississippi, but I believe it's actually made by whoever makes kools. The only place to find them here is a specialty tobacco shop (expensive one for high quality cigars and whatnot, not just a tobacco shack). And when did it become illegal to get flavored smokes?! That's messed up man. This was last year that I had my last one and they got them at the same place I found them 10 years before hand so I dunno but maybe it's a regional law or is it national?
  3. Hmm.. Now this is interesting. Not only is it a said group.. But it's an open forum style group??? I'll be the first to say I had nothing to do with it, but ultimately you have to ask yourself two questions.. One... If you did help the group in said attacks, does it actually achieve anything? Two... Is the morality of it reversed? At first thought I wanna say I am happy to see that group doing what they are but then again.. Does it really make a difference is the question.. And even if so does it not make the attack just as unjust as what the cause is for? Something to pick your brain about, that's for sure.
  4. Well. for one I would like to thank everyone in this tread for not being asshats ultimately because lately no matter how serious or relaxed you try to be about posting there ends up being idiots completely screwing up the point of the op. Now with that out of the way, I used to smoke Marlb. Lights 100's, switched to Marlb. Lights shorts, and since the economy, now I smoke Pall Mall Blues (lights). They are cheap and to me they taste better than Marlboros, but that's my personal preference. There are a lot of people down here that changed to Pall Mall especially after the tax raping started. Anyone ever tried these specialty cigs called 'Sweet Dreams' ? They come (I think) in vanilla, strawberry, cherry, and Chocolate Mocha. They taste completely awesome but I have only smoked them twice (the vanilla and strawberry). Definitely a must try for any smoker (however extremely expensive, around 2x or 3x the amount of a reg. pack of smokes so go in halvzies with a few friends on them for a special occasion or something)
  5. joojoo looks great, but the issue is can it out perform. Priced lower or higher, I will have to say that when you go against Apple, you better be packing a good product.. cant believe I just said that 0-o!
  6. @shonen- dr0p always has and probably always will be THE QUEEN/KING (?) of desktop visual pwnery. He should definitely get into design for stuff like computer props for movies.
  7. @NegativeSpace Actually it's the complete opposite. What Apple does, and what made the i-Pod and i-Phone what it is, is make it uber-mainstream to the point that it looks really cool, but still really easy to use. You have to remember there was nothing 'revolutionary' at all about the i-pod. Multitouch has been around for ages. MP3 players completely dominated the market when the i-Pod came out, and gaming/mp3/multiuse apps were available on cell phones at that time and before, AND flash support on a few phones. The only thing that made it what it was, was all the features in one device that was widely available... And that's about it. The only other thing was that it was hyped as the best thing since the wheel was invented. The reason why I don't believe that this i-Pad will even poke it's head above water in the market is the fact that it does NOT have anything that is not already out there, it is LIMITED even more so than anything out there now and does not incorporate one single feature that is not already packed into other devices. To make things worse with the fact that it does not multitask or anything else is a very big problem with the device, because what it tells me is that it's going to go for further hype. IE their i-Phone strategy. 1. Come out with the device, have it do not very much, hype it as much as possible. 2. Come out with a revision and make it even more hyped 3. Come out with a revision and add... ONE single feature that should have been on the original 4. Come out with a revision and add... Two single features that people have been bitching about it not having since the beginning. 5. repeat and stop support on subsequent versions, and on the last version drop the price. With this strategy sure it worked with the i-Pod and i-Phone, but this comes with a big price now, because the fact is the market have learned to maneuver Apple on everything it comes out with by making products that has all in one, for a lower price, make it more widely available, with better support than in the past. This is showing to be very apparent with Android, and also even for the Blackberry these days. I rarely see anyone anymore with an i-Phone.
  8. This is true digip, but I was thinking as if he's going to be set out for new/pro installations. Yeah dude, if your just going to be troubleshooting and doing home installs/upgrades and things I wouldn't worry about it much, and instead of buying cables though just make your own. You'll make more money :D On a side note.. Our teacher made us make all our own cables in CCNA4. We now do about half the new drops @ school...
  9. Well, I wouldn't really worry about legal issues.. that is as long as it's residential work your doing. I wouldn't worry either about business related work. Just inform them you'r not a security person, just a networking professional. As far as tools here is what you need to invest in: At least a couple of boxes of cat6e Either one really good made crimper or two cheap ones.. A cable tester. This is generally overlooked but you can save a hell of a lot of time (and sometimes a lot of money) in just going ahead and dropping a couple of pinches on a good one. t568a/t568b sheet tucked away in your pocket just in case you cant remember the t568 cabling color scheme.. fyi: for both the clip should be turned away from you and the bottom (where cable inserts) toward you. t568a - (for crossover only use on one end) white green, green, white orange, blue, white blue, orange, white brown brown. t568b - white orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green, white brown, brown. Here's the way I remember it: whites/solids alternating with white always first, then just the colors:ogb-brown 568a - gob-brown As far as software, for residential, you may wanna find one of those auto install cds for a couple of routers for residential use routers (i.e. linksys, etc.), but be warned these cds usually don't work very well. It should be straight foreward though. Just look on the bottom of most home routers, it should have the starting i.p (ie, usually 192.168.0.1) so go there and usually it also has the default admin/pass under it as well. If you don't know about setting a router to use pppoe, try it yourself on your own connection because it does a better job (since you only will have one dhcp running), write down all the settings info on the modem connection screen, disable dns(if it has it) and dhcp, but usually it has some setting that sounds right like inactive passthrough mode or something of that nature, then in the router set the pppoe settings (for dsl, i believe it's different for cable) to those settings and your golden. BTW, when you set the modem like this it usually turns off all functions, and just uses pppoe to route per layer 2 to the router, therefore, you will NOT be able to go back into the modem pages to check the settings again unless your reset the modem back to defaults... If you don't feel comfortable with that (i.e. you don't wanna bork the modem connections, and then it takes like 2 hours of tinkering with settings and hoping that the person your setting it up for remembers their username/password for their telco modem connection till you finally just reset the modem to go to defaults) just set the router up with 'automatic config' and put on a different subnet than the modem. This is way less efficient since the packets have to pass through 2 dhcp servers to get to the computers but it's a safer way that can save your butt if your unfamiliar with a lot of the settings in their boxes they have. As far as enterprise/soho style ala. Cisco... I know what I gave you a while back, and I would do some labs if you know what I mean.. But for Cisco routers since you wanna just jump in, I would take that BBIIIIIGGG ASSS switch you still have laying around (don't try to hide it.. I know you still have it :P) and see if it's running SDM. If it is, check it out cause any newer cisco router in the last like... I think 3 years runs it? About 99% of all other soho and up style routers have an interface like this as well if they were made in the past 5 years. Oh something else too. Make sure you have these things at your disposal at ALL times for the money shots: -Retractible ladder of a decent length -carpenters knife/hammer/screwdriver set* (a carpenter type set not computer types) -at least a small handfull of cat6 wall receptacles -a tool belt -cable ties (by the loads of them) -tyvek suit (if you need to get into heaps of insulation in the ceiling) they are a tad expensive for what they are, but it's a full body suit that will definitely help you not itch your ass off. Hope this helps mate, and cheers on your new endeavor!
  10. Yah I posted that one earlier today on my fbook

    bye Matt

You know there does need to be some balance on the show to cut the level of sillyness that Darren and Shannon bring. It's not a bad thing of course but it's something that has been a little out of balance for a while now, and someone needs to come to the show to put a little seriousness into it.
  12. Lol, yeah.. -"OOOhhhh, 800x600 active matrix screen baby!"
  13. Your right. :X I don't know what I was thinking about on the SSD. I do believe I see where Apple wanted to be with this, and their vision if it were the same as mine is pretty sharp, but I just think they maybe miscalculated themselves somewhere with this thing. I mainly see this thing coming down to the simplicity of people who want to carry it around all day vs those who don't. I don't think it's going to be a specs deal breaker. I don't think that most techies will want it either. For one it does not really replace any current devices that are on the market, so that's an addition to what you usually carry around. You still need a laptop if you generally need to bring one around wherever you go like me. I more or less see this as the Weekend or Friday warrior type of device. Good for bringing to work when you know you don't need a laptop or other device, or maybe if you want to conveniently watch a video outside while you are bbq'ing. Anyone and everyone these days has either a multimedia enabled cell phone or an mp3/mp4 player. This however would be a cute tech toy for the stay at home mom or elderly couple... But we all know these days, most of these types of people cannot afford something like this. Also in terms of style this i-Pad device falls WAAYY short. People don't want something that looks like an overgrown i-Pod touch or i-Phone. They want something different. Something that identifies that product as being unique, but an overgrown i-Pod is the first thing that comes to people's minds when they see this thing. They should have changed the bezel and button colors at least. To be frank their design is getting a little dated. It would look pretty bad ass in something like gun metal grey with a dark grey border or something. Sure the screen is nice, but as far as an e-book reader I am not 100% confident that when it comes down to the price of e-books, that Apple can compete with the likes of other e-book readers unless they sign up with certain companies, and I am not sure if Apple is that lax to sign up with multiple e-book companies or really their vision usually is to add it to the i-store.
  14. I just had a thought.. Maybe it's like the jitterbug version of the i-pod. :D If this device were: About 2" smaller, had multitasking, supported most audio/video formats, did 1080p, 1 gig/ram, 500gb ssd, had 12 hr battery life, and was about $200 cheaper I could see this being a killer addition to anyone's tech-arsenal, but alas.. I call it fail at the starting line... You can get a 12" HP touchsmart from walmart for ~$900 that blows this straight out of the water in everything but the screen.

    bye Matt

@Burning Aces... you n00b!!! Watch at least a few eps. back. @Matt - Well. Honestly I figured as much by now, but it was a joy to watch you on the show. Seemed like for a long time it was as if you were following my network curriculum some how :X You'r a flexible, stable, scalable, guy with high availability in my book. You people who don't know networking, no that's not a gay comment. Hope you get where you wanna go man. Don't be a stranger.
  16. Angelina Jolie was never hotter IMHO than in hackers... At least you get to see her REAL boobs :P Yeah i'm a purist like that.
  17. I'm just waiting for the one person to come on here 6 months later, drag up this *future* buried thread, say we all suck because were Apple haters, and then rant on about how it looks so pretty and his rich ass parents bought it for him..
  18. LAWL!!! OMG it looks retarded! It really does just look like a cartoon sized i-pod :X I really though Apple would do a lot better with this.. I can't wait to laugh at someone hold it. No not because I dislike Apple, I thought they would come out with some mind blowing product, but this is hillarious looking. And I can feel a really good one being conjured up by the onion right about now with a term like I-Pad :P
  19. Wow.. I need this guy's job, so I can just spit idiocy all day. I'm mighty sure that wasn't the bottom line on it. So it's essentially boxee with a e-reader on a netbook (i'm sure the specs will be close) without a keyboard, and for what? Probably $700? Sry. Apple lost my buy again. Don't get me wrong sounds like a nice package but nothing breaking any ground.
  20. Adrian is cool as hell. I chatted him up for a little while @ Phreaknic this past year. Hell he even gave me some kick ass sticker shwag :D
  21. The saint's have never even WENT to the super bowl. They have hosted the Super Bowl in the Super Dome a few times, but the only time they even got close was in 06'. In the past they have been a really shitty team, but it's finally came together... To put it bluntly how shitty they used to be, here is a visual aid. I'll give you a clue. These are the FANS! BTW, FYI for any of you Brett Favre fans.. I passed by the broke spoke after the game. Everyone I saw was cheering and screaming, and they had Saints jerseys on.
  22. Well.. The HTC Pro and Diamond are pretty common these days, and Android can be thrown on it (the pro is a lot easier than the diamond though) and you could just throw it on that. I have a friend working on the exact same thing.
  23. <- Is happy that the UK is finally getting a meetup. I know you guys have been wanting this for a long time.
