  1. Cheers to you moonlit. Being on here about a quarter if not a little closer to a half of the time that that was written about, I have seen a few things. And as you know, I grew up a little. I hope you stick around too. And about the fuqhak5 agreement? That is everywhere. I have even found it on Android open source.
  2. Oh yeah.. I even had first hand accounts of people telling me it made them trip. heh. little did I know later on they had never tripped (off acid) before, so evidently it was what they "thought" it felt like. Take any soft cd, classical with long highs or just very melodic music, lay down and listen to it for a while. It will calm the hell out of you, and from there however you think you can feel you may get a slight touch of. FYI, to this day whenever I hear a house/trance fusion mix with a crazy buildup, I still get the tingles down my back and the top of my head feels funny (like what I used to feel when I roll would first start up when I would do extacy back in 99/00) It's all just your endorphins and seratonin giving you a little extra shot from being relaxed is all.
  3. eh, this stuff is old news. Tried it, didn't work. It's calming, but beyond that, it just doesn't work. This topic has came up at least three times since I have been on these forums and have heard it's been around for about ten years or more. It's snake oil, pure and simple.
  4. How would I start it? 1. Did Kurt Cobain really kill himself? 2. How do you travel intergalacticly with only $5 in gas? 3. What is the ending equation of Pi?! 4. What is the next hot stocks to invest in? 5. Lottery numbers.. BAM!
  5. eh.. I use Windows because it's easy. I use linux because it's different and highly customizable. The whole linux is communism bullshit is old too. There's a clear difference between communism, and everyone contributing to a project. If this is the case, then every religion that helps the poor and every organization that gives money to charity (including those regular people who do the same), every class project or group project, and even every act of kindness when including more than one person would also be classified as communism..
  6. Good thing were not talking about nano vs. Vi... uh oh..
  7. Ever looked at Vyatta? If you know Cisco, well.. you pretty much know Vyatta (for the most part) and it's FREE! Check it out. It's pretty nice however I have only tinkered with it in a V-box client http://www.vyatta.com/
  8. @cabster21 - "I hate people who claim not using Ubuntu hurts GNU/Linux" Who-TF are those people? I mean.. Ubuntu is the most commercialized *home use* centered linux there is.. I would think the opposite :? To each their own though. Every linux has a different flavor that you spice to taste, and every Windows has had a good home here or there down the line, just the same with OSX. Same with Android and all the I-phone OS's. It's lame to even think ONE operating system is better than the other at everything. And even then it depends on the person who is using it. When will people learn it's just an O.S. -Operating System, and what really matters is HOW you operate it.
  9. Well sense it's July and all, I am gonna go all out and show you all.. pretty much blandness, but with simplicity comes tranquility :) Desktop: Laptop: Server: The image someone sees if they bust into my house and happen to glance at the 20" monitor :P And last but not least... My HERO! (literally, it's my HTC Hero fully rooted/romed/etc [see specs below :D) Hero Spec: Running Aloysius 2.1 (soon to be running 2.2! :D) Overclocked to 710mhz Stock-Android, color-modified Lock screen Helix-Launcher Mystify Live Wallpaper Apps2SD JIT...Disabled.. Pandora, and Google Nav does NOT like it right now :X
  10. @VaKo - "Humans are at our best when we use our hate and discontent to good effect." Damn.. I got dibs on this line for my sig!
  11. +1 to VaKo and mux about quality control. I was going to put some of my thought on that in the first post but didn't get a chance.. When I bought these e-cigs: (which totally f*ing blow btw, DO NOT buy them unless you find them dirt cheap, and you just wanna try it out before you drop good cash on a kit) I went around telling people I was probably smoking chinese drywall or something (hell who knows right?!) Tasted about like it... I got some smoke juice and actually did get a little bit of a drip off of it and was pretty darned good, but just never bought an outright kit.
  12. TBH I have always used linksys, but have also always had issues with linksys routers... Every belkin I have ever seen is crap (minus one or two), but on the same note, I have never seen a bad Netgear.. Just threw a D-link in for shipping to me so I guess we will see what that does. Everything sounds pretty good about it. I am currently using a WRT-54g v.6 running dd-wrt micro, but it's fudged to the extreme. Worked great for the past few years, but now it's crapped out so bad that I have had to set up my modem doing all the routing and connection management and the router will only work as a simple switch + AP...
  13. +1 to infiltrator. Just remember this: When working in an AD (Active Directory) environment, ALL POLICIES ARE HIERARCHIAL! Therefore, you have to watch and structure your policies to fit. In other words, if you have a user that is a group member of users and of Active Directory Administrators, and you have a policy say... disabling access to a folder, that user can still access the folder, because even though they are a 'user' member, the policy is sidestepped because that user is also part of the 'AD ADMINS' group.
  14. Oh no negativity felt here man, it's all good. The reason why I said it's too expensive is because for a decent e-cig (I have done more than an extreme share of research), your looking at around $45+ for a good setup, not including the juice (around $10+ for a small bottle) which does last a little while (depending on if you drip, or refill, or both), and fresh cartridges (around $5 for a pack of four usually). So to get set up you are looking at: $45 $10 $5 = $60 (and this is on the cheap) When you don't even know if you will be able to buy more juice tomorrow. I hope it does make it as a regular product and stay out of the FDA's sh*tlist, but it's not out of the woods yet, and yes you can make your own juice, but then if you can't buy liquid nicotine (could be outlawed in the future) then what would be the point? To top it all off you need to make sure your kit keeps running, so right there your going to want to buy a replacement battery (around $10 to $30 usually), and backup vaporizers (around $2 a piece usually). If it does become completely legal (and not price inflated to hundreds courtesy of the FDA) then it would be a great tool to use to quit but we just don't know this yet. Also I do believe it's totally f$'ed up that the FDA will allow chantix to even be developed with it's horrid effects yet tries to ban something that has as of yet not had any negative effects... One thing I do want to detract that you didn't catch is that I said nicotine shortens lifespans. It does not. Carcinogens reduce lifespans, but nicotine has never been shown in scientific research to cause any negative side effects.
  15. I have to admit to you that I have thoroughly enjoyed the idea of this project, and honestly I hope that it does come to realism, but a lot of what I threw at you was for thought and analysis. It was my honest opinion but you want analysis and figured what better analysis than unbiased input? I understand what you mean about trying to find the root of an issue instead of it's outcome, but another thing you said was you cannot find an outcome based on a child but.. you can. A child is the most fresh and realistic version of an unbiased human. I believe everything that is needed for the fundamentals to make the project work lye within the study of the habits, learning systems, and thought processes of the youngest infants because they simply do not know. This also supports the way you feel about how the project should work because it's all scientific. Finding the patterns, altering those patterns to the proper outcome. You cannot do that with any human over five because regardless of how or what you do to try to change the mind of that human, the outcome will always be biased. Most of our behaviors are determined by our childhood experiences. For example, how many times have you came across that guy or that girl with a strange phobia? Most of the time it stemmed from childhood. It may not have even been a negative experience that had caused that phobia (clown phobia anyone?!) but ended up upsetting the child and having a lasting effect throughout adult-hood. I never said it was a gene. It's a random side effect of our environment. Maybe not even from a negative event. Example: There is a party, person stays up all night, next day feels like crap because levels of seratonin are off balance, sleep schedule has been altered, etc. Yes this can be altered back to it's proper balance, but sometimes over prolonged periods of partying, a person can become completely lazy and they don't want to do anything else. Actually this is a better (and much more realistic) example: A person is really close to a loved one, that loved one dies, and that person is left feeling that they are alone in the world. Even in a large family this can take place. It's just a side effect of our attachment to other humans. There stands one final issue to this subject that is not addressed however, and that is how to convey a positive reaction from a positive event and a negative reaction from a negative event. What are the consequences of an unruly child or adult? Children are more overly easy to give a positive and negative reaction to an event, but what about adults? Maybe it's just that I feel that I need to feel acknowledgement from my actions, but if this project is as you say then the only acknowledgement is social, and in the end all we really need to do is eat and reproduce. Would there be control of reproduction? Regardless of the environment, and regardless of positive and negative events or consequences, people are going to have sex. And from what I have seen throughout history, even when contraceptives are available, people become stupid and have unprotected sex. This brings unwanted children which you CAN SAY has a lot to do with money but time is the deciding factor on most people feeling they are having an unwanted child. What is your input on this?
  16. Ok, so @VaKo, I wanna say I don't have much time to read up on what you have added, so my bad if I am repeating anything you said but here is my issue with the video: The common good - It was taken in the video that if people grow up to be gangsters, thieves, and crooks then they will in fact be as such, but at the same time growing up for the common good to be placed in a society where they can just 'fit in' is an odd statement. I am not being closed minded here, and as such I am giving my unbiased opinion, but here is my issue with it. To make this society work, you would need to remove from everyone within the society these key things: greed, lust, sloth, any relations to a higher power, and profiling natures. The reason why I did not include more things (as part of the 7 sins ya know) is because those others stem from these five fundamental issues.. Greed - yes if you take money out of the equation, and GIVE EVERYTHING to a person that they want, then certainly you can extinguish it... However that is ONLY if you give a person everything they want. This happens as a child. One child sees a toy another child has, wants to play with it, the other one does not want to share, so the child that does not want to share experiences greed, and the child who does not get to play with the toy experiences a sort of profiling nature, in other words, they may see the other childs characteristics such as the clothes they wear or the way they speak as a 'type' of person in which is an enemy to them. Lust - this is pretty well self explanatory, however I will give an example that could fit and grow in that society. Girl likes guy, guy wants the acceptance and recognition for having a job he is not good at; girl get's guy job over someone who does qualify for said job. This can fumble over and over and over because it's something that IS instinctive to us as humans. As humans we feel the need to be with a person, and that connection or attraction or whatever you want to say will almost always get elevated above other things. Relations to a 'higher power' than us - This is an extreme flaw as I have noticed in the video because it seems it would be a mandantory belief to not believe in any gods and to only believe in what sustains life, which actually in a way does make sense, however there are many people who without these beliefs in a higher power than us, would feel there is no reason to actually live, and certainly no reason to live by guidelines or laws. This also brings me to the point that each different belief is something that makes us unique, but also gives differing opinions and has in fact spawned wars and things of that nature, but it is also something that is a need. People need to believe in something but why the sun exactly? Sooner or later as generations pass, those people would want to know what is beyond the sun, and beyond what sustains life, which would either ensue one of two things: 1. people would research older beliefs in god (which ever one you would choose) and resurrect that belief (no pun intended) which would then spawn differing beliefs and would end up going to chaos which is where we are now, or 2. people would come up with their own beliefs which would mix things up even more. Sloth - what to do about these people? There have ALWAYS been lazy people dating back before the bible, the only reason why you did not hear about them is because... lazy people would die basically unless someone was there to cater to their needs. If you look at the common traits of any human one things always stands. We as humans categorize things. EVERYTHING started from categorization. From separating good plants to eat from the bad, from categorizing a sunny day from a rainy day, and to now from separating good people from bad, and good data from bad, etc etc etc, and those differing ideas conflict which is what makes us human because even though we build and change and reflect and fix things that are broken from different ideas and outlooks, but at the same time that also causes conflict which would be the ultimate flaw in the system, because not everyone has the same idea, and not everyone can or will do it the same. My final argument on this is that no matter what, you cannot control the outcome of a child/community/society/etc. based on a predetermined environment. If that was the case, we would have no 'black sheep' in families, where even if the environment was a PERFECT one, the child still rebelled, and went out and just did dumb s#it. Yes science COULD change these things by altering genetics to a point, however at that fundamental point in time, we will no longer and CAN no longer be considered human. Honestly it's a great video and a killer concept, but the only way to make it feasible is to alter ourselves in an inhuman way.
  17. Tried the cheapies, they worked.. till it screwed up. Bottom Line - Too expensive to make a real investment into until the laws surrounding the e-cigs are cleared up.. BTW - I have smoked for 13 years, and quit with the aid of nicotine gum. Regardless of what it is, how it's delivered or how much 'less you will spend' on it, nicotine is addictive and you should just stop whenever you can. I know it's hard as hell. I am still battling it, but the point is it's a money pit and a life shortener. E-cigs are great IF you wanna try to use it to stop smoking, but for the most part I have only seen people move their addiction to them. The same thing that has happened to many of the 'successful' people who quit smoking however ended up stuck to nicorette.
  18. Dunno.. Seems like were all getting hacked around here lately... If you see me post stuff about sniffing panties and selling viagra, well you know what probably happened :X I definitely want to let this all sink in but there are a few fundamental flaws that I have caught just thinking about this Venus Project society.. I will elaborate later.
  19. Just finished watching the movie... Wow.. I feel that it is definitely worth anyone's time.
  20. I'm about 5 minutes in and it's interesting.. It's about inflation/where money comes from/what happens when money is deposited, and etc. Pretty interesting stuff indeed...
  21. +1. You need something more than avast! unless it's actually made for a server environment...
  22. @ascorbic... wow.. ok.. @n3rdy - I definitely see your point though. I love Windows and Linux. Linux has came a LOOOOOOOOOOONG way from when I started, and I remember people wouldn't even help you get started. That was back in the days of the Linux Nazi's, where basically if you asked a question on any linux thread you got the reply -"If your too stupid not to know how to use it, then your too f#%ing stupid for me to explain it." "Cain't we awl jus get alowng!" Windows has it's positives and negatives, and Linux has it's positives and negatives. Hell even in recent months I have come to be neutral about Mac Operating Systems (and that's a new experience for me). Use what you want.
  23. {|}~◘⌂ü≤äd╛ how's that for a passwd?! :X
  24. @VaKo... Guess I never thought about it that way. The reason why I never gave it a thought is just that no one that I know use Yahoo anymore, but you do have a good point there. Heck I wish Yahoo would come back (I always like rooting for the underdog :P)
  25. Yahoo was one of the original big boys of search back in the day as I remember.. Actually it was the first and only search engine I used until Google came along, and it was downhill from there. I just do not think Yahoo can really get anything up to the par that Google has become. For me Google is simple, and elegant in it's own right because of it's simplicity. I am not here to compare Bings to Googles (we all have our own opinions on that), but as far as Yahoo, what does it actually contribute to search these days? Why would they even try to come back now? I can't stand their email system, yahoo chat has become a bot battlefield (and has been for years now), most of their earlier services that made sense completely failed or just didn't get off the ground and have since been shutdown, so... does anyone here use yahoo? If so do you think it makes sense for them to keep going? I am not lashing out at Yahoo really, just thinking that the company has been beating the dead horse for years and it's really time to put the hammer down and do something else.
