  1. My University also disallows the broadcasting of wireless access points. Probably to avoid students using your internet instead of theirs. Either way what you're proposing sounds good but I can't imagine that the Universities network would let your router work in the way you've described due to NAT, DMZ & IP assignment issues. Personally I don't have to use Cisco clean access agent as my Mac can use the web-based login panel. I have a copy of Vista x64 that automatically passes all CCNA validation checks without even having the checks done, possibly to do with the way my copy of Vista avoids Win Genuine Validation checks, but that's neither here nor there. I'd recommend that if you haven't already disable DHCP on your router & ensure that it's set to act as a bridge/hub not as a modem (Ensure the ADSL modem is turned off).
  2. eBay used to be a place where genuine sellers could trade second hand goods and get some real good deals. It's been infested with cheap foreign goods and is now a bane to the internet - please do add comments! These cheap importers are so concerned with their reputation that they now THREATEN to take you to COURT over it. Click
  3. Most of your points are invalid or just utterly cringe-worthy. Yeah, cool. Let's play a game that embeds a DRM rootkit on your system. If you look at OS X software the majority is supported back to OS 7. Also new apps work on XP because the majority of PC users hate Vista (for what ever reason). The mere fact that most people would greatly prefer an older MS OS over a newer one is a huge MS fail. 12 months standard warranty is the default for 98% of hardware and retail items. Apple offered me 3 years for £35 extra. It's about the same price actually. OS X is $130 and is only avaliable to be used for upgrading an old mac. Much like the MS windows upgrade packages which are half the price of retail packages.
  4. It's not just about the hardware that goes into it. It's about the Operating System, the design and quality of the components and casing, it's about the support you get and the customer care that you recieve. People buy a Mac for a reason, it's not for the hardware inside of it, it's because it's far more effective at doing what people want it to do. To be reliable, durable, easy to use, hastle free and a joy to use & carry. It's about quality, not quantity.
  5. http://serversniff.net has some pretty useful web based info gathering tools for bruteforcing subdomains/file locaiton etc.
  6. TrueCrypt's your best choice, offering a large range of encryption types & algorythms. Just keep a copy of the TC installer with you or keep it installed on a flash disk.
  7. I use an Air & I have to say it's far more amazing to use than any Windows laptop I've ever laid my hands on. I found out when visiting my local apple store that the new Macbook & Macbook Pros actually do have a click button; it's built into the bottom half of the track pad, so to click you just click the trackpad. As JJ said, once you go Mac you won't go back.
  8. I carry my Air & iPhone + charger. Perhaps some paper and pens :)
  9. Made using LogonStudio from Stardock.
  10. Hi everyone, The objective of this thread is simple: entertainment! Much like the desktops thread, post your (if at all) custom OS login screen! http://janslow.info/photo.jpg
  11. EPs seem to not have so much MEAT any more. Missing mods and decent guides. Loved the Wifi auditing vids & the router mod'ing vids in particular. Loved the fon stuff, didn't like much of the new series.
  12. BIOS beeps will indicate POST status. You don't need a monitor or graphics out for that.. Your posts are really annoying sometimes. --> @OP grats on getting it working.
  13. Hi everyone, I remember someone posting about using the Remember the milk service to store reminders on their desktop. I signed up to the service but I'm not sure where to get the desktop addon/app for the service. Any advice? Thanks, James
  14. Legendary. Btw... does it POST?
  15. Hello, everyone. I noticed today that the notification icons for Battery, network and sound have 'dissapeared' from my tray. If I log into another user account and back into my administrator account they re-appear. If I right click the taskbar, you can see what I see from the attatched pic. Would really appreciate any help you have to offer! Many thanks, James [edit] I have managed to restore the icons by making some registry edits as advised, seems to have worked so far. Will keep this thread updated.
  16. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
  17. I use the Gym a few times each week & often play basketball/squash with friends. I also train in Jujitsu on Tuesdays & Thursdays :)

    Free-Ventrilo

CSS, BF2, BF1942, CoD:4, WoW etc all have in-game VoIP. However vent's better for team training as you dont have talk-downtime at map changes etc..

    Netbook Choice

I have an Aspire One, unlike the EEEPC they have a full-sized querty keyboard which is really great when taking notes in class. Also the network & GFX chipsets work with BT3 for all of your pen-testing needs. Additionally as mentioned above the Aspire 1 can be upgraded to 1.5GB RAM with a pretty simple disassemble.
