p28312 Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 After I upgraded to 2.7, did a hard reset. The SD Card was not being recognized - format option spun forever. Used Windows to remove the two volumes, and then was able to format it in the portal..but it is still not being recognized. Not sure where to go from here. Thanks
RobinEd Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 I've run into this as well... I haven't solved it quite yet but this is what I've done so far: This can be a real problem to mount or get working. You can find loads of interesting error messages in dmesg but none of them will make much sense. The recommendation is to format the SD Card in the webinterface. Under Advanced you can click on USB & Storage and select Format SD Card. That may very well not work. The SD Card has two partions data partition swap partition Commands you will use a lot fdisk -l dmesg The solution [1] here at least formats your sd card in the right way. You may need to perform a few of these steps from another linux PC though - every time I tried the mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1 on the pineapple the scsi bus would reboot and it would tell me /dev/sda1 doesn't exist. Tools to wipe from sdcard.org SD Memory Card Formatter 5.0.1 for SD/SDHC/SDXC complete wipe and gui format Completely wipe SD card with dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdcard/sd bs=4096 Eject SD card from WiFi Pineapple NANO Power off WiFi Pineapple NANO Insert SD card into WiFi Pineapple NANO Power on WiFi Pineapple NANO Use the webinterface to format the SD card (this may take a while). Alternatively, use a linux distro to format the SD card ext4. The card should mount automatically. If it does not, reboot the WiFi Pineapple NANO. hand formatting Format SD Card cat /pineapple/modules/Advanced/formatSD/fdisk_options | fdisk /dev/sda mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1 mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda2 mkswap /dev/sda2 mkdir /sd change /etc/config/fstab to: config global option anon_swap '0' option anon_mount '0' option auto_swap '1' option auto_mount '1' option delay_root '5' option check_fs '0' config mount option target '/sd' option device '/dev/sda1' option fstype 'auto' option options 'rw,sync' option enabled '1' config 'swap' option device '/dev/sda2' option enabled '1' Reboot and the SD Card should be mounted. (from https://wiki.edgarbv.com/index.php/Wifi_Pineapple_Nano#SD_Card) I am running into dmesg showing the sdcard being remounted a lot - to sda sdb sdc sdd etc etc and some errors showing the sdcard has errors (it doesn't according to fsck, but oh well) like print_req_error: I/O error, dev sda, sector 136 Buffer I/O error on dev sda, logical block 17, async page read ath: phy1: Short RX data len, dropping (dlen: 5) etc. I am now trying the SD Card Formatter and doing a full overwrite format takes a long long time. I have heard that the nano can be very finicky with SD cards so if this doesn't work I am just going to buy a few 32 / 64 / 128 gb ones and try them one after another. Keep me posted how you're doing, I am very curious!
Mister_Obeah Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 i am having the same issue, since upgrading the firmware the SD card is vanishing, ended up formatting and reinstalling some modules but after about 30 minutes it had vanished again, tried a couple of other sd cards, and a brand new one, all behaving the same way. after a reboot of the nano it seems okay then things start misbehaving
Mas0x Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 Same issues! Format my sd card... And everything is fine, it's recognised and I'm able to install modules to it. I then restart the nano, poof sd card is not longer mounted.
Foxtrot Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Hi, Thanks for reporting issues with the SD Card mounting. I've spent some time trying to reproduce but can't, so I've gone and got a variety of SD Cards to try and isolate this issue with. Log output from "dmesg" and "logread" is appreciated as it helps trying to diagnose these issues. Thanks
Viceroy Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 I was having the same issues until I consoled into my pineapple and just did the formatting and partitioning by hand. This might help
Viceroy Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 I used the UUID of the sda1 partition instead of the /dev/sda1 for the fstab config.
Idk_Man Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 @Foxtrot I ran into this issue as well with v 2.7.0 What caused it for me was shutting down the NANO via the web portal icon (Log off, Reboot, Shutdown) When I went to power the NANO back up later, the SD card was empty/unmounted.

TVJAY Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I could not format the SD card via the GUI or via command line on the latest version. It looked like the SD card was there and then it would be gone. I was able to format a USB drive so I know I was doing it right.
Rysik Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 After upgrading Pineapple Nano to version 2.7.0. SD card - SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC is not mounted automatically.I can format the SD card using the GUI and it is visible, but I cannot install modules on it.Can I count on help in this matter?
Rysik Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 The problem is solved, it was enough to change fstab to: config global option anon_swap '0' option anon_mount '0' option auto_swap '1' option auto_mount '1' option delay_root '5' option check_fs '0' config mount option target '/ sd' option device '/ dev / sda1' option fstype 'auto' option options 'rw, sync' option enabled '1' config 'swap' option device '/ dev / sda2' option enabled '1' And then format the SD cards

p28312 Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 My /etc/fstab is empty - are you just adding this content?
davidb62 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 I just got my Pineapple nano and I think there is a serious problem with mounting/using SD cards. I can format it, but then i can see that it continually disappears and reappears if I type fdisk -l in an ssh session There always seems to be a lot of IO error messages when i check dmesg Far i have tried 2 brand new SD cards. One 16GB and on 128GB. Both the same As far as i can see on my Pineapple Nano the SD card feature is completely unusable :( I am hoping this is firmware related and will be fixed in the next release
HudsonWang Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 First you have to figure out what's sd card name under you /dev list 1.open terminal and enter : ssh root@172.16.42.1 , you will need your wifi pineapple password which is same as for the web interface. 2. type cd /dev and enter 3. type ls to see your whether you have sd directory or sdcard directory , in my case, i only have sdcard directory, 4. type cd sdcard and ls to see what's in sdcard directory, i got sd , sd1 and sd2 5. now get back to your browser and enter 172.16.42.1:1471 and click on Advanced to change fstab content. Mostly for config mount content need to be fixed. config global option anon_swap '0' option anon_mount '0' option auto_swap '1' option auto_mount '1' option delay_root '5' option check_fs '0' config mount option target '/ sd' option device '/ dev / sdcard/sd1' -------------------------------------- This is where you will store your download data later, in my case I have sdcard directory and sd1 option fstype 'auto' option options 'rw, sync' option enabled '1' config 'swap' option device '/ dev / sd2' option enabled '1' 6. save fstab and unplug wifi pineapple wait for couple second and plug it back. open web interface and go to Advanced, click on drop down arrow next to USB&Storage to format SD Card. Now you will be able to install modules to your sd card. If still not working , try format your SD Card https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF0SoLdqb5Y

p28312 Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 still no luck for me - i used SF formatter, and I do see sd1 and sd2. I edited the fstab, formatted - no issues. When I go to install a module I still only see internal. Could the issue be the install module (meaning the card is working but for some reason I dont get that option)? is there any way to validate this?

Now you see this is the really weird issue I had, on 2.6.2 you don't see two sd cards, I also thought /sd/ was something internal but on 2.6.2 it's not. To be fair C2 cloud and 2.7.0 are causing really weird behaviour for me so I'm going back to 2.6.2 - I would probably advise you do the same and try again, i'm 100% sure you'll have more success, if you don't I'd say try another SD (but don't forget to fully format it in SD Formatter again) Edit: If you need help downgrading let me know.
Quintox Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 The Nano was able to format my usb card. But when I went to install modules, it only gives me the internal install, not option for usb install? Anyone have this problem.

That means that it might have formatted your SD card but it hasn't managed to get it mounted. If it doesn't mount on a reboot after formatting check your logs and you'll likely see some bad block messages. Please check and let me know. You'll see your sd card as a mount point with free space showing via the Web GUI in advanced. Logs will look something like this: [ 17.148897] print_req_error: I/O error, dev sda, sector 15522896[ 17.154956] scsi 0:0:0:0: [sda] UNKNOWN(0x2003) Result: hostbyte=0x01 driverbyte=0x00[ 17.162647] scsi 0:0:0:0: [sda] CDB: opcode=0x28 28 00 00 ec dc 78 00 00 88 00[ 17.169892] print_req_error: I/O error, dev sda, sector 15522936

How can I check , what is in my SD card, and how much space still available.
PanicAcid Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 To check the space go to Advanced and it'll show /sd/ in the storage info section (just to the left of where you formatted the sd card) and to get to sd via ssh simply type cd /sd/ Glad you got it sorted!
