  1. Buy @ctive Password Reset, run it and reset your Administrator password. Is there a reason why you can't ask your friend what he set the Administrator password to? Is there a reason why this is your first post, and you're asking how to gain access to the root account? :)

    What can i do...

I don't understand the problem here, your Windows XP OEM CD came with the PC? I would guess then you have already have a CoA attatched to the PC or to some sort of documentaion? i.e. your windows copy is legal? If your copy of windows is legal, borrow a friends OEM disk and use your Serial. Where do you live? Edit: I re-read your post :P if you tell me where you live, I can see how much it would cost to ship you one of my spares :P I have errrr many XP PRO OEM disks ;) reccently did some hardware upgrades, and the previous guy only bought XP HOME ... makes a domain migration intresting

    Awesome FREE FPS

    Wolf ET ftw anyone? http://enemy-territory.4players.de:1041/
  4. Once you've enabled SCS on a share you can set the times it will take snapshots, it does it twice daily. I think ours are setup to take copies around 11AM and then again around 4PM, I'm not sure if there are any recommend strategies for this? SCS is something you have to “opt” in to, so unless the admin went and enabled them, then he has no chance. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...r/bb405951.aspx Is the link for the client download he’d need to install on his local system. One word of warning for restoring from a shadow volume copy, ALWAYS do it from the client, NEVER from the server... like somebody did...
  5. Not wanting to be a complete cock Why not just contribute to the Hak5 forums?
  6. I wouldn't call it hacking :) I would however say Gratz! :D
  7. Well, you could add the root DIR of all 5 drives and let it catalog from there. It might work. ;)
  8. If the media is in one place then you could use something like Twonky Vision
  9. Cardiff here :) Only way to hack a wireless network without the owner knowing is to become a Grand Master Ninja! Only then can you truly pwn!
  10. Yes you can. You'll need a static IP or you'll have to use a service like ZoneEdit or DynDNS
  11. Nope, ask the network admin, we are actually quite nice people, despite what the rumours in the toilets say...

    step by step

Just updated all those services, and keep them up to date. Sorry, but I am very sceptical when people come here and say "Hoi Guys! So.... I got like a home server that I want to hack"
  13. "Ok Done. BUT WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!?!" Maybe your users are more IT friendly than mine ;) I had a customer once (Keep in mind I supported SME’s... emphasis on small) who would want a document pretty much for every problem they had, the MD hated paying for IT support yet wanted me to spend hours writing page's on possible solutions and resolutions for a blown PSU ;) sometimes I miss consulting
  14. What worries me the most is how someone found it? Obviously the stick would have been in camouflage!
  15. What happens if you click "View the contents of the error report" ?
  16. Sigh, there is so little IT literacy where I work! I don't abuse them ;) I mean the problem is all the people with power listen to hear-say... last week someone came in and told me they needed to be moved away from our Exchange server to AOL ... after drilling down into why exactly, "someone" in the pub told him AOL is secure ... Oh well, I advise, then do what I'm told at least I can reclaim some space on our backups.
  17. I'm not sure what the Law is regarding "downgrading" i.e. is it just open to OEM System Builders? Having spoken with Microsoft (having done downgrades for customers) they have told me to use ANY XP CoA Personally I am finding Vista ok, most of the problems I had have settled down. At home I am running Vista Ultimate x64 on 4GB of RAM and at work I am running Vista Business again on 4GB of RAM, previously I was running Vista Business on 2GB of RAM and it was quite sluggish and I can see why it has had a lot of bad press... given the choice of downgrading OS or upgrading RAM I would take the RAM option I am always tickled by people who rush out and install the "latest" software and then moan about problems they have with bugs etc ;) I think the "I hate Vista" bandwagon is a little unjustified now.
  18. Computing Career :) You will quickly learn "Same shit, different day"
  19. I used http://www.zoneedit.com over DynDNS ;)
  20. I can't find the episode you are referring to, I do remember watching it. I would assume that it uses the MS Speech engine and is reading on the fly opposed to dumping it to a .WAV? I found this application for $30, I guess you could use the free trial to evaluate it TextSound 2.0 this will convert the text to either .WAV or .MP3 and can be used via the GUI or Command-Prompt (Pretty much sounds right up your street), not sure if it can do RSS, but I guess you could always rip the content from the feed and dump it out to text?
  21. FFS What is wrong with people now days? Has Google been down for the past week or so? Last time I wanted info on this stuff I Googled it, and found a very informative guide, with links to the software and also to what wireless card you need for the packet injection etc.... I even found a video (Was it done by the "From the Shadows" folks? I don't remember)
  22. As stated I don't belive it can be done (at least it out of my league [MSP certified]). Someone has suggested some Google keywords so go from there, otherwise move on, you don't seem to be getting many bites on this one and it's not hard to see why.
  23. I believe the title was "Review", and I see no problems with the article, it doesn't claim to be scientific so I don’t know why you’re bashing it. I personally enjoyed it, and as someone who regularly gets asked about eeePC’s and now Acer One’s (As recently as yesterday in fact [26/08/2008]) I find the review informative and helpful.
  24. We recently upgraded to Office 2K7, but we looked at OpenOffice.org and I was actually quiet surprised by how much stuff is actually there, the learning cover would be no greater than moving from 2003 to 2007 as 2003 to OpenOffice.org. That said I am still impressed with my overall experience of Office 2007. As for exporting to PDF, I belive Microsoft have a plugin for Office 2007? (Wasn't it sheduled to be released before Adobe went nuts ;)) Anyway we use CutePDF here (Installs as a printer, then you print to it and it asks you where you want to create the PDF) http://www.cutepdf.com/
  25. Something to do with graphics acceleration? I dunno I might have just made that up :o I used a Mac Once and I was just confused "Where's my right click damn you!"
