  1. My wife sent me a text message one day and it had ur in it. I immediately called her and let her know that I would divorce her if that ever happened again. Does that make me a grammar nazi?
  2. Everyone is going to make a mistake or have a word or four that gets them every time. The thing that gets me is the intentional butt fucking of the language.
  3. It is possible that things have changed over the years but back in 99 I took a "certification" class from Panduit. They were just starting to push Cat 6 to their customers so we got a little hands on with the new products and the wire. That being said, I'm not sure if the gauge of the wire was different but the distinct difference was the addition of a plastic core. I hope that I can describe this correctly. The core served as a separator for the four pairs, think of a + that extends through the entire cable. It also twisted as it went down the length of the cable. That way you had the twist of each pair plus the twist of the core itself.
  4. Would you tap someone elses water pipe if it was out in the open for anyone to steal? Would you steal someones petrol if they left the cap open? The two examples that you give have a tangible object that would be denied to the owner of said object if it were taken. In the case of wi-fi, the owner isn't being denied the use of the service. I agree that someone should not be able to just roll into your neighborhood and start surfing but a year in prison is pretty harsh. I mean, with all the things going on in the world today I would dare say we have better things to worry about. Even the fine and probation seem silly to me, then again, I think that an adult should be able to make the choice as to whether or not they want to wear a seatbelt too. I personally think that there should be some level of personal responsibility on the owners part to make sure that things like this can't happen. I know the argument can be made that they don't know how but there are more than enough "services" that can do it for you. When I was in college I did it all the time.
  5. If only most Americans could/would do this, sigh..........
  6. Pretty Nice Shinma! Does the GB Micro have a standard audio output? I have a GB SP and they still had those funky Nintendo headset jacks. Let me know when you have the video going of it in action, I would love to try this out!
  7. I have been using a Dell X5 since they came out, years later it is still solid as a rock. I have heard that the newest one, x51 I think, is nice also. On the lines of the HP/Compaq, they have always made good PDA's (as far as I know that is) and I read an article recently about the newest one being nice. Check out http://www.mobilitysite.com and http://www.aximsite.com for more information.
  8. Did it again last night........... Wait, where you talking to me?
  9. No problems there. It can be done, but if the page is not specifically formated for mobile use it is very annoying. Even when it is, I still find it to be more trouble than it's worth. Most of the new models that I have seen come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth standard. It can be done, I tried it with the on screen keyboard, didn't care for it that much. Maybe if you have a thumbboard it would be better. You may want to look into a cell phone that supports IM, but that is a whole other can of worms. I know that Skype has a Windows Mobile edition but I never tried it out. You can do a lot with a PPC, just depends on your mind set, what you are willing to put up with and adapt to.
  10. Well there goes my Associates in Computer Haxoring degree from ITT!
  11. Since I seem to be determined to hijack this thread...... film, get a sleep study done, you may have sleep apnea, and that is no fun at all.
  12. I just found this on Slashdot and thought of you Sparda; No sleep needed drug Enjoy your new sleepless life my friend. :)
  13. Good point, I need to call my wife and tell her to get ready, I'm getting off early today for Thanksgiving. Feel free to take the double entendre there and run with it.
  14. I said yes, but only if you are alone, in a closet, under a blanket. If anyone sees you, you MUST punch them to prove you are still a "man" :D
  15. I'm getting old so I get 5 to 6 on average now. Before I found out I had sleep apnea I was lucky to get 2 full hours, it sucked.
  16. I created a BartsPE disc that has the DIXML plug-in on it. I boot from the CD and write the image to a USB hard drive. When I restore I do the same thing. If you don't have an external drive you could make a small partition to store the image on and restore from there.
  17. DOH! I was having a serious head up my ass day yesterday. I should learn to slow down and RTFP. Thanks for the information, I may give it a try this weekend and see how I like it.
  18. If you want to go the BartsPE route, use Drive Image XML. I do it at home and have done it for my servers at work. Has worked great for me so far.
  19. I want to say that just having an iso on the drive is not going to work. What you need is to have the OS "installed" on the flash drive, like you would on any hard drive. The only difference being is that the flash drive is removable. If I am wrong about the iso bit, someone feel free to jump in here and call me on it. Would be interesting if you could do that though.........
  20. Where do you playback your ogm files, Erroneous? I normally stream my files using XBox Media Center. I've also had my eye on a Creative Zen Vision W so I would be curious as to how widely supported the format is. When I convert something into a file I am using Auto Gordian Knot and the Xvid codec to make .avi's. I am fairly certain AGK uses mp3 for audio.
  21. I have been using Nero for a couple of years now, I think that it is version 6. Whatever version is out now, I am using the one before that, need more coffee. Anyway, I use Nero and it works very good for me, you can create your own menus, chapters and things like that.
  22. I just started using this combo today and will find out if it works when I get home so I will let you all know, anyway......... I had been using DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink for some time but I noticed that they were not able to handle some newer (mostly Disney) DVDs. I picked up a copy (freeware that is) of Ripit4Me and FixVTS. Ripit4Me looks like a wrapper of sorts that uses the other three programs as well. First I use ripit4me to strip the DRM, it then hands off to DVD Decryptor for the (duh!) decryption. At this point you can use FixVTS if needed and then use DVD Shrink to author your new DVD. The only thing left for me to do when I get home is swap out the DVD for a blank and see if it works. One day I will just slap down the cash for a beefy file server to hold Divx rips of all my DVDs so I don't have to worry about the discs anymore.
  23. Let me tell you, there is NOTHING that will make doing something fun even better than this. I highly recommend getting blown while participating in your favorite leisure activity.
  24. Thanks for the reminder that I graduating high school before a lot of you were born. I did find out that in the late 90's there was a huge Cisco lab built in the regional headquarters where kids could sign up for the CCNA classes. I had the pleasure of wiring the multimedia center they built in 98/99, it was great. They had distance learning labs, ethernet ports in all the labs/desks, lots of great opportunities.
