  10. I know little about Java but maybe you could try to find vulnerabilities in poorly written code that would allow you to gain access to the computer, gather information, etc. Just a suggestion ;) p.s. Seeing as you didn't get the proper welcoming to Hak5... Welcome :D p.s.s. Most people here have spent much of their lives learning about security, hacking, technology, etc. and aren't going to give you a direct answer. That's what hacking is all about, creativity, the want to learn, and passion. If every Joe Blow that asked "how can I hack 1137!?!?!" and got what they wished, then there would be no integrity and/or reason to be a hacker, as that would destroy the whole mindset and lifestyle that a hacker is. Next time research a specific topic before asking a question, and when you really can't find an answer, which is highly unlikely if you have any knowledge about the wonders of google, then ask specific questions. Anyways... I hope you find what your looking for, learn something new, and do well on your project ;) EDIT: Many people also get annoyed at double posting. Use the edit button on the bottom right portion of the post if you have extra information you forgot to include.
  11. You might wanna check out some hobby shops if there's any around as well. I'm sure you can find something similar to, if not exactly, what you want on ebay. Try Fry's too.
  12. You might be able to find a Radioshack somewhere. They have a wide array of electronic supplies and even if you don't find exactly what you want you'll always find something usefully/fun at Radioshack ;)

  14. would the CLI be that much harder than GUI? Because I'm trying to learn more about managing Linux through CLI and so far it's been working out quite well :D I'm also doing EVERYTHING remotely (next door lol) through SSH because the server is at my neighbors house and connected through his router And do you really think I'll need a database program for a website that will have like 4 pages at the most? lol
  15. Ok so I'm gonna put Apache on my Ubuntu server and I was wondering whether I should install the whole LAMP package. I have been reading up on MySQL but I'm still not sure on how it works and what it does lol I'm getting the jist that it's mainly used for bigger servers with search functions or something? Please correct me because I'm probably completely wrong haha What are the benefits of MySQL? and should I install it on my small Ubuntu server that i expect won't have anymore than 20 ppl a day? The website will have a tutorial on how to connect to my server to use it as an SSH SOCKS proxy and that's about it.
  16. Great tutorial! I wish I had this back when I was trying to hack the Gibson!!!
  17. haha after you told me it was DNS i googled it and found out what to do and it was exactly what you said lol thanks alot though ;)
  18. yes it's static. how do i set the DNS server? is that the same as nameserver? I've red about nameservers but haven't figured out how to config or fix it <_<
  19. I can't ping google.com from my ubuntu box that I'm sshed into. I pinged it from my WinXP box, got the ip, and then I pinged that ip from ubuntu which worked fine no hostnames can be pinged but pinging their ip works fine which might be a real problem because I planning on setting up Apache on it :( anybody have any idea what could be wrong and/or how I could go about fixing it? Thanks in advance ;)
