CaveMan
hey, from what ive heard its a bad idea to open up laptops and such what are your views on it? and is it worth doing (to see whats inside and maybe adding a antenna to your laptop)? mazmac24
I don't have one, my dad does i dont, but i imagine opening one will be similar to opening a computer. you just have a keyboard as a cover instead of the metal "door"...

Jester
just make sure you label the screws because some are very similar in size but not exacttly the same. So be sure everything goes back together correctly and you should have no problems.

cooper
Well, I opened mine up once to clean out and possibly oil up a noisy CPU fan. That was the last time it booted. Thankfully it was a work laptop from a known-shitty series (Toshiba Tecra S1). They just gave me a new one once they saw the thing freak out on post. stingwray
Opening laptops is fine, though it helps to have the maintence manual for that model. Otherwise look at it as possibly an expensive puzzle.

VaKo
2 bits of advice about laptops, firstly, when you take them apart put all the screws in little baggies according to the type of screw they are. Don't just stick them in a pot, put them in something that closes. 2ndly, make sure you have a clean large work area.

armadaender
Hmm, I'll have to remember all of this for when I install the twin-gig sticks of ram I'll soon be buying for my laptop.

Ram on a laptop is easy there's just one door on the bottom of the laptop and you just pop in the ram.... it's easier than a desktop. oriteku
There is also usually a second slot on the top of the motherboard underneath the keyboard.
