  2. Well if I'm paying 200 for it, I at least want new gum. I'm taking my business elsewhere.
  3. I too agree that forums can often be confused with a diary (and in this case I think it is). What people often forget is that what is posted on the web is PUBLIC info, and johnny law can and should view this. I understand you want our sympathy, but be aware, even though you are only telling us your bias side of things, this is clearly more than you initially told them. Also, I am beginning to further doubt this story. Why would the government randomly decide to obtain and carry out a search warrant for you. You have said that they did not obtain ISP information about yourself, but if not why would they search you. Maybe you were selling said illegal media, or something, but the government would not do this without cause. Furthermore, as I said earlier, how in the hell did they obtain an itemized list of your computer gear? Fuck, I don't even know all the shit I have. Then why go on and blab on the internet how the "stupid" police missed an important item in their search? If they missed it wouldn't it be one of those, "Thank god they didn't notice this, let me keep it to myself" type moments?
  4. Here I thought if anyone could understand what they are saying it would be you. A Brit that comes into contact with many a Scotsman. I work with one, and I feel like an idiot asking him to repeat everything. Half the time I just kind of say yeah, without really understanding a word he says.
  5. Well Dell is really your best bet, but if not take a look at asus and acer. With your price range though, I really would recommend re-evaluating Dell.
  6. No, most people do remember. If they forgot, lift up the keyboard on the back there will be a nice sticky note with the password on it.
  7. Thats bad ass. Can't wait till the video goes up of him falling on it, that shall truly be a sight.
  8. Well, someone is kicking themselves that they didn't shred these documents.
  9. I never really used to understand when tourists in Chicago would say that people are nice here. I always thought it was just common, but now I see what they mean. Sure you get the occasional ass, but not too often.
  10. So the cake is a lie? Edit: She is a bitch. You probably are making too big of a deal over it, but I guess someone should, considering I would probably just move out the way.
  11. Reminds me of my favorite episode of Futurama, when Fry drinks 100 cups of coffee. This is the best youtube video I could find: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4sQD33AmlM
  12. Very interesting. I guess I would be considered a member of this online generation. I definitely think I spend too much time on my computer, but I don't know what to think about it. I just made a facebook a few weeks ago, I had resisted until this point, but I figure it will be the only way I can stay in touch with people from my high school once I graduate. Having made it only a few weeks ago, I already find that I spend to much time on it, constantly seeing updates and that. I would consider myself one of the better educated ones about this type of stuff, I have blocked my acct. to only my friends (and they are only the ones I know), and I refuse to have any photos of me on the site. In fact, the photo I have up now is the result of searching for creepy old guy in google images, I hope some of my friends might see the irony in having that as my facebook photo. Overall although initially sites like myspace/facebook were a good idea (they still are in theory), it puts way to much public info out to the internet. And I agree with the only way to stop bad things from happening is from educating the youth. I don't having parents view everything their child does is a good idea (just like back in the day you didn't want them in your room), I do think content filtering may be an option to help combat this.
  13. May I ask how they got a list of all your computer equipment.
  14. I wouldn't necessarily agree with the improving speed part. Overall, most new OS's get slower. The functionality part is dead on. Since when does XP offer good support for multi cores? Sure they work with XP, but I would by no means say they work well.
  15. You should change the title to the other 96 percent lives. Oh, and personally I'm a fan of XP.

If you have some money, Norton Ghost works good for images.
  17. I'm in a similar situation, I am going to college in the fall. I just built my rig last year, and spent 1500 on it. I am going to buy a asus eeepc, and use that for class. I am going to bring my desktop for my dorm, and my eeepc for lugging around.
  18. I can see some resemblance, but his patch does look like something that comes out of my ass after a night of taco bell.
  19. I think it would be naive of us to think he told us the entire story. If I was in the same situation I sure as hell wouldn't.
  20. That sucks dude. Hope everything works out. Now then, time to true crypt my entire drive, ICE.
  21. Talking about encryption, so cryptic messages are required. Oh, gotcha :-P
  22. And why don't you just say plus one?
  23. That makes me wonder what kind of security using the calculator to surf the web would have...none probably
