  1. Don't forget to wear your coat, it is cold outside. You could catch a cold. You need to be more careful.
  2. Yeah, its called *69. Other than that, maybe checking your phone bill will lead to better results. Other than that I'm not sure there is a way you could check, without being an employee of said phone company.
  3. I think most of us on the forums know not to open up an e-mail from someone who you don't even know, who is talking about how they love you in the subject. Still the idea of hackers using this date as a way of exploiting a social holiday is something we should know. That way we can educate the non computer literate.
  4. Speaking of books, anyone heard of the book C++ Primer, and if so how did you like it (note I am a noob at coding).
  5. Well not specifically wireless, but won't nmap -sP and an IP range tell you what you need?
  6. I agree. It is a tough situation for Microsoft. How do they improve with a new product, when they have a great product already out on the market.
  7. I have alreayd wnet through and gotten rid of all the bloatware that came with it. Turned off 90% of the services I know of and am going to look up the new ones I never seen before before disabling them. Its a lot snappier than when I first booted it and seems stable so far, but its not as fast as XP seems to be. Although I have only been working on it for a few hours an dhavent given it any really hard tests, like video rendering, ripping, burning, watchign movies, etc. Main reason I got it was my wifes computer is about ready for a recyle as a file server or other device of choice, as its a 300mhz air cooled pentium with 20gig hdd that is maxed out of space, and its slow as hell. Its a nice upgrade for her to get my old pc, and I wanted somethign beefier for video editing, rendering, etc. Plus, the HD tuner seemed to bog down the machine, and I was hoping the newer box will not have as many issues. We'll see, but I ahvent gotten that far yet. Still trying to get back to the same settings and install base as the other box and then I can start really playing with it some more. Then I have to setup the old one for my wife and copy all her stuff over to it. Seems like its all I do in my spare time is move data from machine to machine or fix someone elses when they break. You can't run Vista with the expectations that it will run even remotely as fast as XP. It is the same with all upgrading, as the OS gets more features it gets slower. Just look at the difference from 2000 to XP. I won't try and judge Vista yet though. I haven't had enough time to mess with it. That is on my things to do list (which seems to be growing way to long).
  8. I'm not sure about a usb drive, but on a HDD it takes me about 5 minutes (for XP). So depending on the OS probably around 10-20 minutes? Correct me if I am wrong.
  9. I got both integrated and a add in VGA to work. I forget how, but it was with a lot of tinkering and it took me a while.
  10. It might work on W2k server, where they still store LM hashes.
  11. I dream to live in a world where I can have a conversation with metatron.
  12. You may be SOL. Are there any options of running cables? You could install another AP on the other side of the metal? Can you offer any clarifications of exactly what type of environment you need this in. I am used to metal covered buildings. The school I work at has tons of metal lockers and metal windows which equals shitty wifi coverage. We have had to install AP's to almost every room that needs coverage (we have a large tablet pc with projector program) which means that we spend a shit load for our limited wifi. You are lucky to get a few mb connection in a room next to an AP.
  13. Enable object access auditing on the computer hosting the resource, then go to the printer and enable auditing there as well (in the properties dialog box). Then check your security event log and view the info you need. I don't know if this will necessarily see how much they printed (it might), but atleast you can track how many times they printed.
  14. I just use Excel and a bar code scanner.
  15. Lol, valid point. I scored the highest on AD!
  16. lol, why would it land him a job at Microsoft? If you have access to a vacuum former, a drill press, bandsaw and a printer that can handle vinyl you could make that. All he did was strip down a TV and Xbox 360 and remount them in a new case. I completely disagree. Have you taken a look at the shear size of the 360, granted the laptop is big, it is not as big as a 360. He had to have redone a lot of things to get that to work right. I can't imagine how he did the cooling. Microsoft very well might see that and say "thats pretty cool, we should have him working with our development team". That is by far no simple mod. ...dude it's bigger then the 360 and looks like poopie and how do you know it's cooled at all I disagree.

  18. Thats a pretty amazing mod. Wouldn't be surprised if that lands him a job at Microsoft. Edit: That is a pretty awesome intro to the you tube video.
  19. If it was Scientology it would be one thing, but a true religion like atheism...* *This is spoken with sincere sarcasm
