  1. I'm happy enough to vote London as well. Just a small reminder of the last two: London 2007 at the Science Museum Berlin 2008 at C-BASE
  2. I think you have to be realistic with how far people will travel, plus the transportation issues. Scotland outside of Glasgow is a pain in the ass to get too, plus its a long drive/coach/train ride from down south or even the Midlands. I think its one of those things where you kind of have to pick public transport hotspots and places where your not spending any more than 5 hours to get there.
  3. I'd say my 24" iMac is the best PC I've owned. Compact but with a stunning screen and fast, with a nice OS. I have to say I only really use it to watch back TV but as a desktop system goes well worth the money.
  4. Yeah lot of camping sites have hookups for power and free internet now which is nice. London is also good as anyone can get there, I really don't mind. Best to do this stuff when its warmer, so there is more than enough time for working out things, anyway we will see if there is enough call for a meet up.
  5. Anyone up for another meet up this year?. If so, I'm not sure what people would want but I'd say UK, London or Birmingham or maybe a tech camping trip.
  6. Well I use Linux for home use as it runs the fastest on my hardware and has all the tools I need for my day to day computer needs. Work it 60/40 with Windows and OSX. The right tool for the right job I say.
  7. International man of mystery. I could do my 90 liter pack which has a large tent, sleeping bag/mat, full cooking equipment, 40ft and 20ft telescopic mast/tripod three antennas, pirate flag, another radio, 4 part dish, VSAT kit, TNC, I could go on but you get the idea.
  8. You can own any firearm you want in the UK including things you can't own in any US state as long as you get authority of the Secretary of State to do so.
  9. Well I have a Dell X300 and I'm running a 500mW Alfa usb card which uses a RTL8187 and I've got a 8dBi omini hooked to that and a Ubiquiti 600mW internal card which is Atheros based. I'm using a GlobalSat BU-353 SiRF Star III USB GPS all of which is being used by Kismet-Newcore. I also have a modded Comm-On-Air card with the Kismet plug-in.
  10. Something like? sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /dev/media/anal -o force
  11. I watched it and thought it was fairly bad and watched it a second time the other day and my view still stands. The people they talked to were really not a good section of the "community" and the few people on there that were fairly bright really did not have much worthwhile to say. I'd say the person interviewing them was largely to blame for this. This is really more of a film about people with social disorders. I'd say download it and by all means watch it, but don't expect much.
  12. You should have a look at WiFi Analyzer from Airmagnet, its hands down one of the best tools I have ever use. Airmagnet do a few good tools but that would be the most useful one for this task.
  13. lol, well I've had a few boards that use a VIA C3 and I have a Mini Note (they had a sale on Misco) and I like them, but I think overall Intel make a better low power/heat processor.
  14. Yes but the main reason people were not buying them was they were using a VIA C7, that has now been replaced, which has improved the speed and power consumption. The only thing the new ones need is 2gigs of ddr2 and maybe a replacement Atheros based a/b/g/n card.
  15. Look on http://www.shopping.hp.com
  16. Pick up a small form factor IBM ThinkCentre with Windows XP Pro pre installed of Ebay and a display from Dell and any cheap keyboard you like.
  17. Hacker Spaces are a good idea, I've been in a few and I know of a new one opening in London soon. The issue is they cost money and the only way they really work is if you do it with a group of people you trust. Anyone you let in has to be a friend of the people you trust otherwise everything tends to go tits up and things get nicked, damaged or the place turns into a shit hole. I can't see how a Hak5 hacker space would really be any different than where they live now.

    MAC,PC,LINUX

I say buy a Apple G4 cube (dirt cheap) and upgrade the memory for OSX stuff, buy a Dell X300 (dirt cheap) for Linux and buy a cheap new HP/Dell desktop with Windows Vista and put in a better graphics card.
  19. I have no idea who Chris Pirillo is. So I have no issue with the dude.
  20. I'd say it was better than shmoo as it has more people that do things, instead of just talk about other peoples work or rehash old information. Although Shmoo is the best con in the US for content as they do have a handful of good informative talks.
  21. I don't really like the show but I have to give it to them they do try and they are one of the few shows that are still about, most tech related, internet based shows have died off.
