If your building a wifi enabled RC plane why use the Fon? The Fon was only really popular because they were giving them away for free or at a low price. Now they locked them down and increased the price there is no real point. Yeah I have 8 external units and 4 internal units, well the older ones which they targeted towards home users which they stoped doing and jacked up the price (still the same units) and now included support. They are all Atheros based and are very hackable.

They just use a rugged GSM modem such as the Wavecom units hooked to the serial port. The best way to hack them would be to open one up and remove the sim, find the number and you can then expect the others to be not hugely different, war dial the range, then guess or brute force a password. I'd guess the password is similar for all the displays the company owns. You could also get into one of the units and dump the password but that would require some knowledge.

The only good way to work in computer security straight is to be a "black hat" then at some point (arrested a few to many times, you get a wife/family) you decide you can't do it any more. The other way is to go into sysadmin and at some point, once you have experience going into nothing but security. I see way to many people about trying to sell themselves as pen-testers and security consultants and know fuck all, don't be one of those people.
