  1. I don't mind Adito, but OpenVPN makes things simpler and easier for me to work with.
  2. The difference between a local and a roaming profile is quite simple. Local profile basically means, all your files and documents are stored in your computer's hard drive. Whereas a roaming profile; as soon as a user logs off from that computer, all data will be synced/copied to the server, if you move a lot between computers roaming profiles will be of a big advantage to you. Since you are not required to copy/move data between computers. One thing to bear in mind is that, roaming profiles do have a tendency of getting corrupted more often than local profiles.
  3. That's an interesting theory, would be nice to see a switch capable of transferring data at the speed of Sata 6.
  4. OK, here is what I found out: At some point during the installation, it prompted me to configure a user database. Two options are available. 1) Active Directory 2) Built-in I selected the first option, since I am running a domain controller. The next thing you will need to ensure, is that when configuring Adito to interact with the Active Directory, is that all the domain settings correct, or other wise Adito will not be able to communicate with the active directory. Since the AD is being used, all users account shall be maintained via the "User and Computers Active Directory". If that's not that case, just select the second option and remember to create the user accounts within Aditos admin interface, not the domain controller AD. Hope this helps.
  5. I really hope you have authorization to perform this pen-testing. Secondly, I would suggest watching some of security videos from securitytube.net, lately there have been lots of good videos uploaded, especially tutorials on how to secure your wireless connection. Furthermore, you will find the videos very informative and educational.
  6. When pairing two graphics card together, they must be from the same manufacturer. Its just how crossfire and sli works. Now I read some reviews and if you are tight on budget you better off with x2 GTX 260 in SLI mode. Or go with a high end one from ATI, they will cost less than the Nvidia ones, but should offer good performance and value for the money as well.
  7. Its a step forward, but again Apple should have designed it to be turned off when required in the first place.
  8. I wouldn't say its a bad idea, but from a performance point of view, your computer could take a hit. Simply because there could be traffic going through it. So that's why its recommended to leave it disabled, if you don't require IPv4 Forwarding enabled.
  9. 1) To troubleshoot it further, I would connect the print directly via USB cable to another PC and from there try printing again. 2) If there are no issues and you are able to print from this computer, then it could be either the drivers or the wireless that is causing issues on the laptop.
  10. I would use something like Photoshop to edit the time.
  11. By default any Linux distribution will have IP Forwarding disabled. This is normally a good idea, as most people will not need IP Forwarding. Its only required if you are setting up a Linux as a router/gateway/proxy or a MIMT attack, where the traffic must flow through. So ideally you want to have IPv4 forwarding disabled, if you are not planning on doing any of the above.
  12. If you are shooting photos in RAW mode, the camera should have been supplied with a CD, containing the software. If that's not that case, Photoshop would be a good software to open RAW files. Alternatively you can download this free utility from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=d48e808e-b10d-4ce4-a141-5866fd4a3286
  13. Interesting never tried cain and able on Win 7 before. Anyway, thanks for pointing out the registry fix, i must have misread your post.
  14. You are not the only one, several months ago I went to a computer shop to buy a DVI to HDMI cable and the person behind the counter told me that, there was no such thing. Told him that there is such thing, because I looked it up on the internet. Moral of the story, he could have told me that they didn't have in stock.
  15. It doesn't necessarily need to be a black vehicle, it can be any type of vehicle, as long as they don't look too suspicious, as the one in the article above.
  16. This type of attack can so easily be mitigated. And I don't blame those war drivers, in fact they may be doing something illegal but they are definitely doing it for a cause. To alert people of the importance of using WPA instead of WEP or no encryption at all.
  17. As long as you use WPA2 with long and complex pass-phrases you should be secure. And this is what those small businesses are lacking, IT education.
  18. The videos are very informative and fun to watch, I'm going to be downloading them.
  19. One way to fix that, would be changing your default gateway IP address from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.1.1
  20. My current setup has a single GTX 260 Nvdia graphics card. It has x2 DVI outputs and x1 mini-HDMI. If you are planning on running more than 3 monitors, than any graphics card will do just fine. As long as they are not in crossfire or SLI, they should work just fine.
  21. I have a feeling that, your wireless card does not support raw monitoring mode. It could explain why you are experiencing difficulties seeing other wireless devices mac addresses.
  22. Does the router that do all the internet handling, has capabilities to throttle the bandwidth per device? Or does it only support one device at the time? Reason being, rather then setting up two subnets, you could configure the router to only throttle the bandwidth on the PC that you want.
  23. If you read the article, you will see the following line. "Except for the front, all windows in the car were heavily tinted, making it difficult to see what was going on inside."
  24. I would become very suspicious if I saw always, a black tinted window car, driving or stopped around my neighborhood. I think that's what made them a target for the police.
  25. Seattle police are investigating a group of criminals who they say have been cruising around town in a black Mercedes stealing credit card data by tapping into wireless networks belonging to area businesses. Source: http://www.networkworld.com/news/2011/042211-seattle-police-say-wardrivers-are.html?hpg1=bn I think its time for those small businesses to stop about thinking of only making money and starting hiring professionals to secure their computer networks.
