  1. I'm running a basic DHCP server on my linux box, but haven't been able to wrap my head around setting up a bind server. Windows DNS servers seem so much easier to set up.
  2. Probably be easier to just run a small box with pfSense or something similar, wouldn't it?
  3. Best thing would be is to change the password.
  4. Chances are that it might start and perhaps, walk. Of all the games I've try running in VBox, not even D2 was able to run at anything higher then 5-10 fps (and I've got a GTX260.)
  5. I am the same way. If and when I decide to upgrade my POS Dlink router, I'll probably be getting a Linksys one that I can flash with DD-WRT.
  6. Good luck. You could also try running Hijackthis and see what it finds. Not that it'll help you, but I've been in the habit of imaging a machine after I do a clean install and get all the drivers and apps and junk that I use installed. Saves me a hell of a lot of time, if I want to start fresh.
  7. Does the gateway have a "select boot device" option? Check here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=257866
  8. http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forums/hard...patibility.html
  9. Does it still have the restore partition? If it does, try this here: http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-53091-r...-with-a-gateway
  10. I know what you mean. I do not like dealing with IPv6. I'm currently studying for the 70-642 and it's going on IPv6 briefly.. that and subnetting give me a major headache. Not much help there, of course. IPv6 has some advantages over IPv4: Larger IP address space, built-in security and whatnot. Auto-configuration by seeing which address the router is using and assigning the machine to the same network.. that sorta thing.
  11. Didn't try hard enuff apparently. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=awus050nh+backtrack+4
  12. What kind of computer is it? I'm guessing laptop, since you mentioned a cooling pad. Best bet would be to do a reinstall.
  13. I use an Alfa AWUS036H for wireless cracking/pen testing. Works out of the box in BT4.
  14. My next laptop will more then likely be a Dell Latitude. If you get the warranty, get the NBD one.
  15. Easier to use, and you don't have to reboot just to launch BT.
  16. It was having problems building kernel modules, which needed a fix for it. I don't know what the underlying problem was, but I went back to VBox, since it worked for me. Less frustration is good. Might try it with an X server installed and see what happens.
  17. What error are you getting? That helps a bit..
  18. Backtrack 4 in a VM using a USB Alfa > booting off a USB stick.
  19. Doesn't work if they don't want to listen. I've mentioned that the main AP here runs WEP, but no one wants to bother to get it upgraded to WPA at the very least. You can talk and talk until you are blue in the face, but they won't listen if it'll cost you $$$. Also keep in mind that anything you do to "scare" them, will more then likely get you fired.
  20. I was trying out VMWare Server 2 on a x64 Ubuntu box but couldn't get the damned VM to start. I'm guessing it has to do with the box not having a GUI install, but I don't know. I ended up going back to VirtualBox, since it actually "just works" for me. YMMV.
  21. Is that the only thing it fixes? Can you post what the source for the reg file?
  22. Ah ok. I'm not seeing any color problems with Starcraft. Maybe I am just lucky. :)
  23. What does the patch do, exactly? I don't make it a habit of clicking on unknown links. :) EDIT: Just installed Starcraft on Win7 x64 and the only color issue I have is on the Blizzard logo movie at the start. Everything else looks fine. I'm using a copy downloaded from battle.net.
  24. Nice way to go about it! Making your life easier. Man, it would be so nice to distribute some like that to the stores we support at work.. but then we'd be out of a job too. I hope so, it is definitely a good tool.
