Thanks for the info! I just ordered a copy. :)
  2. Makes me glad that I don't really have any important data on my netbook. Almost everything is sftp'd to/from my server or is stored on thumb drives if I need to work with anything. Good luck finding it.
  3. +1 They would make more sense on a USB switchblade as well.
  4. Had a call from my sister the other day. She was freaking out since she couldn't get on WoW and had no internet access. Fix: Power cycle router. Was that so hard? *headdesk*
  5. This, definitely. I'm still trying to get my mum to upgrade to Win7.. but so far that's been a losing battle. Once that happens, the only machine running XP will by my POS Dell that I use for testing/running crap that doesn't work with W7.

Doesn't work with x64 I think. Tempted to buy it, but I am not sure if you can "renew" after the 6 months.

Ah, confusion due to wording (I think?)
  9. Must be using XP? All those do is do a search in Vista and Win7. In XP Win + L logs you out if you have fast user switching enabled. If it is disabled, then it just locks the machine.
  10. Could probably try clonezilla or something similar to copy the partition over.

Free version? It looks like you have to buy it. Am I missing something?
  13. Could try Rsync. That would work.
  14. A friend of mine mentioned Revision3 and Systm, then moved on to Hak5 as an alternative after the show ended. Haven't been disappointed. Computer guy who needs to find lost passwords and other things. I ended up setting up a server running Ubuntu to store my files and do backups, learning a bit more about linux in the process. Kinda went from there, and while I am not a l33t hax0rz I can do basic stuff. All it takes is persistence.
  15. Works fine. I doubt anything is wrong with the client here, as there would have been a bunch more complaints by now. No offense, but if you are too lazy to fix your AV, and got infected somehow then it is your own fault for running without virus protection.

Good to hear. Can't TC encrypt drives as well?

I wonder if it would be easier just to add another hard drive, encrypt it, then copy the data over. Then shred the data from the other drive. Check this out here: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/emount-mount-enc...isk-drives.html http://www.ossramblings.com/ubuntu_externa...pted_hard_drive

A quick search of ubuntuforums listed a few threads on drive encryption. Most from a couple years ago. If you want any updated info you would be better off posting over there.
  19. When in doubt, wipe the drive and then have him change all of his passwords.
  20. Deauth the clients. Darren explained a bit (new tool) in the episode here.
  21. Hrm, are you trying more then 1 machine? I've known machines not liking stuff that is larger then 4 GB.
  22. What is the 16GB one formatted as?
