  1. Why not just stick an ip camera in there as well?
  2. Why do they call diet coke "diet", but diet beer "lite"? :D
  3. My first tablet was built in 2000, so yea. :D
  4. Blocking China, Russia, and the Middle Eastern countries stops a lot of this crap too.
  5. Yea, you set it up like it was the actual access point.
  6. I used a $200 laptop, so I wasn't too worried about it. I can also reverse mine pretty easily. All it would take is a little white epoxy to fill in the holes on the top. All the original parts are still in place, and the cables are routed the same as the built in antenna. I'm not a fan of usb adapters on mobile platforms. I've had to repair too many usb ports that get broken because a laptop fell onto a thumb drive or something like that.
  7. Yea, even with just the standard 3dbi antenna from a wrt54g my eee will fall over if I lean the screen back past 90.
  8. That antenna is very directional, so if there's any chop on the lake, it's going to affect your signal. My netbook external antenna mod was a little more obtrusive. :D https://picasaweb.google.com/112607452244074089536/EeeExternalAntenna
  9. Water cooling when done right works pretty well. My old G5 was water cooled from the factory. Ran 24/7 for years, it was my media server. It finally started leaking very slightly at the pump. Apple actually put an absorbent pad under the whole assemble, so the small drip this one had didn't get the power supply wet. It gets too hot and shuts itself down now. I looked into getting a replacement part from Apple, but it's waaaaaaaay out of warranty, and isn't supported anymore, so the parts that are still available are stupid expensive. Last time I looked they want $1500 for the replacement part. I may get around to just fixing it myself with non-apple parts.
  10. New gui looks pretty good on my phone as well!
  11. Stupid site software was stripping the ) off the end of the link...
  12. One version of failover explained. http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Configuring_pfSense_Hardware_Redundancy_(CARP)
  13. Make the wifi router's gateway your proxy server's address.
  14. Your laptop wouldn't happen to be running windows would it?? ;)
  15. Which model G5 is it? Here's the troubleshooting steps for the June 2004 and Early 2005 models. Power-on LED illuminates when power button is pressed, fans spin, and boot tone chimes, but there is no video Reseat video card. (Make sure video card is fully inserted in connector and end of card is secured by the connector latch.) Reset PRAM (restart computer while holding down Command-Option-P-R keys until second boot tone chimes) Replace video card Reset logic board. Refer to “Resetting the PMU on the Logic Board” in this chapter. Replace logic board Resetting the PMU on the Logic Board The PMU (Power Management Unit) is a microcontroller chip that controls all power functions for this computer. The PMU is a computer within a computer. Its function is to: tell the computer to turn on, turn off, sleep, wake, idle, etc. manage system resets from various commands. maintain parameter RAM (PRAM). manage the real-time clock. Important: Be very careful when handling the logic board. The PMU is very sensitive and touching the circuitry on the logic board can cause the PMU to crash. If the PMU crashes and is not reset, the battery life goes from about five years to about two days. Note: For the location of the PMU reset button, see “Logic Board Diagram” in the Views chapter. Many system problems can be resolved by resetting the PMU chip. When you have a computer that fails to power up, follow this procedure before replacing any modules: 1. Disconnect the power cord and check the battery in the battery holder. The battery should read 3.3 to 3.7 volts. If the battery is bad, replace it, wait ten seconds, and then proceed to step 2. If the battery is good, go directly to step 2. Press the PMU reset button once and then proceed to step 3. Do not press the PMU reset button a second time because it could crash the PMU chip. Wait ten seconds before connecting the power cord and powering on the computer. If the computer does not power on, there is something else wrong with it; refer to the “Startup Failures” section of “Symptom Charts” in this chapter.
  16. Make sure your pineapple can really get to the internet.
  17. If they don't read the stickies, why would they read the wiki?
  18. The sticky for ics for Mac has freaking pictures of the config pages that work.
  19. SSH into the pineapple. Ping www.google.com, if you can't ping, your ics is borked. If you have no internet connection from the pineapple, you aren't going to be able to download modules from the internet.
  20. I saw somewhere a while back a guy built a radiator out of some(teens of feet) copper pipe laying on the concrete floor of his garage. Used the concrete as a big ass heat sink. I've thought about wrapping flexible copper pipe around the water pipe coming in off the street into my house. I live with two girls, so the water is running more than it's not...
  21. I see how you are. Get bought out by a big cable company and you take a vacation! ;^)
  22. Okay, this is freaking weird!! Once I reboot and hit a random page (hackaday.com) the page loads, mostly, then I get the pbj.mp3 running about 3 or 4 times in the background. I'll hit another page and get the rickroll background, but the pbj.mp3 instead of the rickroll mp3. I'll hit a third page and get the pbj page, with an X where the gif should be, and the right song playing. The next page with have the nyan header, but no gif or any song.
  23. Type nano /etc/config/network Scroll down to the "config interface lan" section and make it look like the above. hit Ctrl x then y then enter Nano is a text editor like vi. Kinda like using notepad instead of Word. They both do basically the same thing, but notepad is a shit ton easier to use. ;)
