Just connecting to a pineapple with a mac works 100% of the time. It's the internet connection sharing part that gives people problems. That's one of the reasons the pineapple has client mode now.

How far are you from the other network? I've never had this problem.

Before the "this pos doesn't work" post shows up. The computer that's listening will need 2 network cards to listen to the whole network stream. One card will listen to the "transmit" side of the stream, the other will listen to the "receive" sided. The tap is constructed so that your machine can't send any data into the stream(so it won't show up on network scans) so both ports have the transmit lines removed. Wireshark has the ability to take two data streams and combine them.

I wouldn't use telco splices on network cables, if you have to do it, punch down a cat5 keystone and put a cat5 cable end on the other end and plug them together. It's for t1 though, so you might get away with it, since it's only a megabit and a half. Personally I'd just use the broken cable as a pull string for a new cable. Tape the new cable to the end at the demarc and pull it to your broken point, then retape to the other part and pull it the rest of the way. If at some point you get real internet you'll thank yourself for not introducing headaches.

You can pick up a 2013 nexus 7 on sale pretty cheap. Then just install the free version of the software. It's a bit older than what they're selling, but it has most of the bells and whistles.

They're basically the same thing, but a ddos is a shit-ton of people doing a dos attack to a single host. They're harder to stop since they're from multiple ip addresses. If you get a system in place like the anonymous morons had, you can have several hundred thousand machines hitting a single site. We tried one of those at a client site. Wicked unstable. Would randomly reboot all the time. Replaced it with a cheap dell mini desktop. Only time it reboots now is for software updates.

Are we talking routers or wireless access points? I try to stay as far away from the all in one pieces of shit as much as I can. We deploy either Rukus or Ubiquity access points at client sites, and either use an in house built bsd firewall/router or pfsense firewall/routers. Occasionally we have to use Cisco routers for our physician sites because of hospital vpn requirements. The nice thing with the bsd boxen is if you get a power surge through the dsl or cable modem you can usually just replace the network card and you're up and running again. Pfsense also has the ability to reinstall any extra packages you may have installed if they're in the backups.

I don't think dakahuna has posted a wireless village schedule yet. I'm guessing that's where it's going to be, they're not on the main speaker schedule.

Use hashcat, it will use either ati or nvidia cards. Intel graphics generally use the pc cpu to fake a graphics card, that's why dedicated video cards work faster.

If the pineapple and your mint box don't see the card, then the card most likely died.

If protected boot is disabled try booting a linux cd. It should still boot. Most current linux distros support uefi. It looks like an oddball Australian model. It only shows up on the Australian and New Zealand Hp sites.

Which model laptop is it? Should be able to disable the secure boot in bios. I've done it with Dell laptops to install linux. It's actually a security feature so viruses don't infect the mbr.
