I'm waiting for a new computer before I get vista and I cant afford that until about when SP2 will come out. I don't see any reason to upgrade OS for any machine if it ain't broke don't fix it :) lol

All I have to say is all live distros are training wheels for *nix and you have to take the training wheels off sometime I just did :) I love debian Etch will suport my wifi :):) yes I've crashed my bike several time now working on 3 install in as many days if you been using fedora 6 then why go with a live disto your already that much ahead of me and debian give you the option to install the closed source and I told it no thank you then it asked me if I wanted to include the programs that have closed source dependences again I just accepted the default no and moved on. you have your choice of gnome or KDE I like KDE :):);) you could run both I think? ;) could someone tell me what the closed source packages are I think they're like some of the video codexs and such. and thank you Linus Torvalds for letting me spend my money on hardware and not software :)

Hey thanks VaKo I'll look into this :) the directshow :) everything else is linux and I'm not yet ready to convert my desktop to linux I have to many win games :) however I have just installed Debian Etch 2.6.18 on my duel boot laptop and made progress on getting my wifi working I think it will really work this time :) lol

Have to see if we cant fix that ;) lol

ok I checked out VLC that was great I didn't know it was server side also. I already had it and it will record from my capture card but not stream live. :( the whole point is so that I can watch TV live from remote pc. I have 6 or 8 progs that will record thats not the problem its the live part? :(

I've been thiniking about something like this also going to put a if statement that checks to see if the computer name is one of the dumped file then stop that way you don't get the computer more than once. one of these days I'll get back to my switchbalde :(

I have a project I want to do and need some advice/opinion. Don't say go google it. my goal is to be able to watch TV from work I have a ati radeon 7500 all in wounder in my desktop. what I'm looking for is software that will stream audio and video from my desktop to the internet. most of the software I've found only does a couple frames per second. :( I'm hoping for inexpensive or opensource. what do you use/recommend or not recommend?

Well, not really. There is no evidence to indicated the Trojan War ever happened, it's part of Greek mythology (although most myths have at least a bit of basis in reality). I'm not sure what you are referring to by Alexandor, if you mean Alexander the Great he was a real historical figure who we know really existed, but there are a lot of Greek myths with him as the hero. The Battle of Thermopylae really did happen (although the sizes of the armies were probably far for what the Greeks recorded - history is written by the victors and all that) so it can be said to be as historically accurate as Alexander the Great in that we know they existed but not sure accurate the historical details are, but I don't see how it can be said to be anything like Greek mythology. I went to ITT and SEA (Software Education of America) they're both deploma mills go for a real colledge even if its just your local community colledge after 2 years and saved lots O $$ you can transfer to big university. I learned more @ local CC. SEA out of a class of 28 about 4 of us "KNEW" what we were doing everone else was learning how to take the cert test.
