MIT is larger and has more socially impaired people. :) the % of socially impaired people that go to both these schools is about the same 99.9% so a larger school means?
  7. I was thinking try a CD scratch repair kit or one of those scratch guard sheets you put over the screen. :?: never tried either.
  8. now that I'm home I looked at my DSL modem and noticed the model:EQ-660R ADSL Router. yes you may all call me NOOB :) I did a quick google for the 660 found all the info I'll ever need including it dosn't do port forwarding very well. has very strict NAT rules and you can put it into BRIDGE mode. So I logged in to 192.168.2.1 the modem/router turned it into a bridge, shutdown and restarted everything. logged into my linksys wrt54g andchecked my wan ip and its 70.***.***.*** nice clase A network. Sorry to have wasted your time. lock and Delete this please
  9. Then try harder soldier! there is no try do or do not :)
  10. ok I figured it out after my last post, I removed my router and pluged my computer into the DSL modem and got a 192.168.2.xxx IP this was just weird because on my router with verizon DSL, my parents verizon FIOS DSL, and friends Cox cable, it showed the gateway as a class A network, I move to las vegas and get embarq DSL here and its a 192.168.XXX.XXX just screamed at me. if I want to conect to my router for VPN, SSH, or something will the DSL modem pass that? are ports blocked/forwarded? if I try to conect from work do I use 192.168.2.1 or 71.48.***.*** I know the 192.168.*.* will not work. and if I tried to oh say nmap the 71.48.***.*** what would I get? or would the DSL modem block stuff like that? could I cut the end off my phone cable and put an RJ 45 on it? is the DSL modem just another router. I don't know but we'll find out stay tuned. :)
  11. my router is 192.168.1.1 what is 192.168.2.1? is that my DSL modem?

  19. He didn't say anything about it having to be a laptop. you don't have to use a conventional input/output. I'm wanting a PDA type device that uses voice recognition and a heads up display/eyepiece use a bluetooth earbud computer device all the technology is easily available off the shelf.

  21. I'm slightly ahead of PureZero I took a intro to web design and a front page class at Riverside Community College. that was couple years ago. Did all of my web page design class in notepad and spent more time looking at the source page than anything else in my front page class. I think he was also asking about what prog ppl use and like or don't like. if hes not then I am :) I've looked at the w3school site and I like it. :)

  23. I had a problem like that, check the coax cable going to the modem and make sure that its the first one on the splitter if you have cable comeing off the pole and a splitter and then another splitter that causes line degragation your modem needs to be as close to the pole as posible meaning into modem then to all the other TV/DVD/VCRs in the house. :)
  24. is your computers bios configured to boot usb?
