  1. 'Free to use' doesn't mean 'free to exploit'. I'm sure they wouldn't take to it very kindly if you told them you had successfully managed to grab all cached passwords on the computer, especially since many other people would use them for their own personal use like email, facebook etc.
  2. Just ordered that model, I'll let you know but from what I hear it's drivers are pretty broken with Kali - you need a bit of drivery magic.
  3. Use one of the switches as a self-destruct payload? Or just use the factory reset method (plug and unplug 3 times).
  4. Whenever I create a website I put a firewall on them that blocks any IPs that hit the website more than 240 times a minute (seriously, who needs to refresh a page 240 times a minute?). I change it depending on the website though.
  5. Yeah, unfortunately SATA HDDs require a SATA Controller to actually read the data and manage the interface. Much like USBs need USB Controllers to determine the device connected and help it interface from PC to device. There are adapters (as everyone else has said), but you can get things like docks and stuff for things like eSATA and even SATA to USB.
  6. What GPU? That's a lot of RAM for personal use. Do you have VMs?
  7. Mmm, I don't know if that's illegal or not - fiddy/fiddy really.
  8. That is a wee bit strange. Maybe it's trying to boot from another partition first? A very silly person once said "it's only illegal if I get caught".
  9. I'm not sure about that. I don't see why it would affect it but it would definitely be worth seeing if anyone has a tutorial or a bit of documentation for dual-boots with HPs and Windows 10. Can't say I have since Ive never owned a ThinkPad T400, and I've never flashed a Windows laptop with Linux (only ever used VMs or laptops/PCs with Linux already on it). Okay, I don't know if that's good or bad - depends what you do with it :P You could try making it more secure, though, as it sounds like others can hack it fairly easily too - unless you were just hacking the software?
  10. Yeah, yours does look like it has better driver support for more OS'.
  11. The one in the OP is dual band :) I currently have a WiFi card in my PC (I know, don't look at me!) but it doesn't support 5GHz, sadly. It has a few other connection issues here and there, so even if I can't use this adapter for pentesting purposes I can still (hopefully) use it with Windows for general use.
  12. Goes into "Network and Sharing Center/Change adapter settings" and sees 20 different adapters each connected to a different WiFi - then realises that they're all connected to 1 WiFi but the adapters are just hotspotting each other in a chain. Man, I really am full of network nightmares.
  13. If you want both OS' there are a few things you can do: Partition the drive so you can have an OS on each partition (maybe have a 3rd for general storage shared between both OS') Buy another drive and swap between them on boot as you want Live Boot USB that boots a Live CD version of Ubuntu (keep in mind this will probably be slow, but you can set up persistence) There's a really cool app for Android phones that allow you to have a boot partition on your phone so it can act as a live boot CD - pretty cool. Here's a link. Unless you do one of those things you can't have both OS' on the one hard drive (unless, of course, VM but you are already doing that). You could buy another Thinkpad but that means you would be carrying around 2 laptops. Not really an ideal solution. Hope this helps!
  14. Never tried doing any driver shenanigans with Linux yet. Is there a tutorial you know of to get it working properly or no?
  15. Yeah, well that's a server, not an everyday PC. :P
  16. Ah well, Windows it is then :( You know, they said they had that issue when this thing came out - it seems silly that they haven't fixed it yet.
  17. This + this = ridiculously overpowered-super-long-range WiFi adapter? I think it would make a good addition to my Bag of Things..
  18. Hi there, Squiddy, welcome to the forums! I probably wouldn't recommend the Pineapple if you're just starting out either, as it can get quite confusing and frustrating for someone who doesn't know much about configuring WiFi and networks. There are a few WiFi adapter dongles on the Hakshop, and I believe they all support monitor mode, but don't quote me on that. Here's a quick, cheeky Google result on "Best WiFi adapters for airmon-ng". Hope it helps! EDIT: Now I want to buy one of these..
  19. Metric tonne of storage right there..
  20. Hoi! Not sure if this kind of thread has been created yet (be VERY surprised if it hasn't already), but basically - just list your hardware and specs of your home PC that you use for gaming or whatever! Here's mine: Aerocool Black Si 5100 Mid Tower Chassis Aerocool Rave 600W 80 Plus PSU Asus B250M Plus 4x Corsair Vengeance LPX 4GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM Asus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GPU (Turbo 3x Life) Intel i5-7600K Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD
  21. I wouldn't say any - I own the PS and BB. I haven't been helping much with other devices (as I don't own them), but you can apply general knowledge to them as the devices are based off of the knowledge (Pineapples are basically wireless routers, BB is basically a Linux box, PS is just OpenWRT scaled down, etc. etc.). Also, as I said in your quote of what I said, it's just me spitting out the obvious or regurgitating what someone else has said. :P (Now everyone knows my secret..) But thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it :D
  22. Can't say the judge will see it the same way. The way I see it, if I kill someone accidentally I'm not responsible. Judge doesn't see it that way. (Completely hypothetical, I don't actually see it that way - but it does depend on the situation).
  23. The Hak5 products aren't the kind of products that you start learning pentesting with - they're products that you buy when you know what you're doing and how to use them effectively. Unfortunately, I do agree that there is too much repetitiveness when it comes to questions - everyone asks similar questions because Hak5 have done something with their product that isn't clear, or the product doesn't do what it says it does out-of-the-box, which is where DIY configuration comes in. The Rubber Ducky is probably the biggest product on the Hakshop, so it has a bigger support-base that's also outside of Hak5, which would explain why it works a bit better than other Hakshop products. The BB works out-of-the-box (to a certain extent), however it does have it's firmware problems (especially in the latest 1.5 firmware), but I would still take it over the Rubber Ducky purely because it's more than just HID. I don't own any Pineapples myself so I can't help greatly, but I would imagine that they would be similar to the BB in that the firmware needs to be updated for most of the payloads to work correctly, but that's just me spitting out the obvious (not to mention what others have probably already spat out).
  24. Lenovo have upped their game in recent times, however I can't say I like their newest laptops. Feel like cheap plastic toys that love leaving oil-marks all over themselves. I do like the new "matte" screens though - they're quite nice even though they look cheap.
  25. Unfortunately most games out there have sale verification methods that block you getting infinite currency nowadays.. Can't say I like malware-infected APKs. Very frustrating.
