  1. Wait a minute... a what-rary? Library... library...library... OH YEAH! THE PLACE YOU GET BOOKS AT! JK :D :D I will give it a read... sounds interesting...
  2. There is actually a mock auction being held by the FCC, selling census blocks for exactly what we are talking about... The idea of an analog signal bouncing me packets makes me, well, pretty damn excited... my grandpa and I used to goof off with his old HAM (he was a radio operator in WWII), and it amazed me, while being complex, it was so simple. If he were alive (he owned the first patent on a dialysis machine... JRF), I bet he wouldn't mind seeing how tech is nowadays.
  3. Dammit, I am buying you a beer, Digip... Keep up the schooling!
  4. I was affected from the AT&T blackout... lol... memories!
  5. Al Gore... lol... haven't heard that name in a while... (thank god)! The Academia, as far as I have read, basically gave the credit to the NAVY for the invention. Computers then were a lot like the switch boards for Ma Bell, a lot of wiring and switching of wires. I also read that the US Government was not going to release it to the general public. The Internet was designed for keeping lines of communication open for apocalyptic/catastrophic events... at least that is what I read in elementary school (late 80s, early 90s). Wow... I still hear the sound of the modems' scream (deeeee-deeeee-duuuhhhh-duhh-duhh)...
  6. iPhone 5 design copied, patented: Goophone i5 Chinese iPhone clone Well well well, that is why we don't leak pictures!
  7. F*cking google.... But, that is what I love, though. Put your bottom dollar on someone cloning the tech (whistling while not making eye contact). But, I have been reading A LOT about this from a few other places, but this is being handled with clothes pins on their lips. There is literally next to nothing about how they plan on making this possible... too bad... we will have to wait until the information is there... but it is coming... and coming har.... fast... little adult humor
  8. I didn't have any issue... hmmm... I hate having to look at the "FACEBOOK SIGN UP"... something just seems off with that...
  9. Here is a juicy tid-bit... Nikolai Tesla invented the remote control... too bad DC never took off; could you imagine how different electronics would be if Edison didn't have the political power (and, of course, money).
  10. (JAWS THEME)... the help desk is a good start, but wait until the man who set the computers up gets a hold of your findings. You have a big bag of ifs, but you did what you thought w foas right. I think you are ballsier than I, that is for sure. You probably won't get a badge or a key to the city, but still, I respect how you handled it, bud. Cheers, this shots for you!
  11. If I am reading this right, it is 400-800 MBs short range, 80 MBs long range... pretty Armstrong'd up...
  12. OK... this was never meant to be crass or negative, to be clear. I do not know how you heard my tone, as this is a qwerty conversation. I was just compiling what some people may/may not know. I thought this forum was intended for learning, correct? I am sorry for coming across rudely... There was not a history thread, so I thought, "Hey, let's get the collective minds going....". I did not realize that I was starting problems. Sitwon, instead of making me look like an ass, how about you detail someone from your list and how they contributed. If it is "lame", then don't post on this thread. I am sure others wouldn't mind to read up on this...
  13. iTard is a cool cat...

  14. Does anyone know the size of the chunk he gave away? How many hours of forensics would it take to decrypt, say, a tb of information.. speaking of encryption, did Manning give him the algorithms to decypher the, what I assume, is not clear-text data...? I always heard tales that military encrypts the data... right?
  15. The machine Charles Babbage looks more intricate than most devices nowadays. Here is another good one, Dick Stallman... besides you, Digip :), does anyone know who he is? I bet a good number google his name then tell me, but how did he play a role in modern computing?
  16. Before I came to my senses (ditching the Gates warez) and love the python/ruby scripts. But that isn't my question... (I do my homework, the forums came to the conclusion my router does not support monitor mode).... HOWEVER, I had software from a company called Colasoft and I could monitor traffic in a breeze. I screwed the pooch on not jumping into Linux years ago, but it strikes me odd that my router (or internal WiiMax card) will not monitor. Sudo apt-get install explanation #I know that not all drivers are open source, is this the reason that my Intel WiiMax card is not detected?
  17. Pineapple Prototype

  18. Ok, this is a forum of learning. Do anyone of you people know who Admiral Hopper is? If ya don't, you need to gracefully read up on your history. :)~ Ada Lovelace, on the other hand, may be a bit obscure. ANYWAY, if someone wants to chime in on some programming/internet history, let's post it. We not lest forget the ones who made computers, and the first LADY who wrote its programming. Sure, you may know your programming, you may know everything about your motherboard, you may be able to network a server with a blind fold. But, the history of computing and programming are being lost because kids would rather jump to "hacking", rather than how these became possible. Chime in, who else made significant strides in computing (we all know Grace wrote COBOL)... who else should be added?
  19. lol... I don't do poetry... No, apparently I was not concise. I LOVE LINUX and am mad I've spent 1,000s of dollars on bullshit software that is available open source... Bill Gates = I'M RICH, BITCH!
  20. Would the drivers be at fault? Maybe the programmers have a moth in the wires? (If you don't know what I am talking about, do your homework, kids!)
  21. Why would this guy have access to this material in the first place? I understand that he was a techie, and aside from the video, how did he have access to those cables? He would have had to have privileges to do so. The chain of command seems WAY off... that goes to show that most attacks happen from within the infrastructure.
  22. I love it. I was faced with a similar issue when I worked at a small, family oriented company, Atoyot. or something like that. ANYWAYS, all of their PCs had stickers located on the bottom of the monitors. I like stickers as much as the next guy; but when each sticker had its authentication names/passwords for that unit, I thought there may have been an issue. I heard the IT guy there was a complete ass all of the time and half assed everything. Did I bring this up? A small part of me wanted to, but, being a Japanese owned company, I would have got canned... no second thoughts; "WE DON'T PAY YOU TO THINK, WE PAY YOU TO BE A ROBOT!".
  23. I would imagine a small percent would love the fact you showed the enthusiasm (I would be), but until you have rapport, they would probably be complete asses about it.
  24. C++ maybe harder to grasp, but I think javascript would be a great one... My daughter is playing Scratch... and she loves it.
