  1. http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/27549-usb-hub-powered-by-wifi-pineapple/#entry210154 Did you read the posts in this thread? I linked you a powered one that does not require any cutting, and a search of the forum will yield you several more.............. The difference in power consumption between a 2 port and 4 is negligible if the other 2 ports are not in use.
  2. The problem is that the more items you add like your USB for storage and even a passive hub the pineapple will be unable to provide enough power for all your accessories. Rather than the pineapple shutting down it will just start to act unstable or unreliable.
  3. You are going to want a powered USB hub.....we see so many problems on the forum because people don't use a powered hub. Do you think the power is free if you get it through the USB port on the pineapple?
  4. The MK4 is based on this board from Alfa: http://www.alfa.com....Category=107225 Or with a case: http://www.alfa.com.tw/in/front/bin/ptdetail.phtml?Part=AP121U&Category=106129
  5. If you can still get to it with SSH you may want to re-flash it with 2.5.0 again?
  6. I cant comment on the hak shop one, I use this one and it doesn't require any cutting. http://www.iogear.com/product/GUH274/
  7. Its possible, if you reconnect the black and power the hub then plug it into the pineapple without the pineapple powered. If the pineapple starts to boot then you know you still have power going through.
  8. Hello ! You are going to want to purchase a POWERED USB hub if the one you actually own does not have a power option. The one you linked has a wall power adapter but I do not see one in the picture of your gear. If your USB hub is capable of getting power from an external source cut the end off and modify it to get power from the battery pack. ***CAUTION*** make sure that your USB hub does not back feed power to the pineapple, if it does you will need to cut the red and black wires on the cable that connects the USB hut to the pineapple.*** EDIT: If you have questions on how to mod the USB cable or more info on the subject of USB and powering the pineapple have a look at this thread: http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/27504-usb-power-wifi-pineapple/
  9. Got it, kinda what I figured but figured I would ask. Sometimes someone has a crazy cool way of doing things I haven't thought of =) Thanks for the replay.
  10. Any chance you can link the place you ordered from? OR PM with it if you prefer. Man 64MB would be nice!
  11. Mr-Protocol, I completely agree, but i'm curious what type of VPS are you using and how do you connect it to your pineapple?
  12. The pineapple will only successfully connect open wifi networks. The karma log will see ALL the requests but cant connect the protected ones.
  13. I would try and setup an open wireless connection on a device you control, that way you can eliminate all the unknown variables and see if it connects.
  14. LOL love it man! I have several aeronets right now, looks like i'm digging them out =)
  15. Check out this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/seanosteen/6049933558/ You do not need the red or black.
  16. As long as it supports the proper voltage then no problem it will just last longer than the 10000 mah battery.
  17. Try this, plug the powered USB hub into the MK4 and nothing else, then connect power the USB hub, if the pineapple starts to power on then you know the USB hub is back feeding the MK4 and it is a problem.
  18. True, just using the terms already mentioned =)
  19. Check out this topic, has links to places you can get a new whip and more info on similar problems to yours. http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/26636-poor-wifi-signal-range/
  20. True, well i'm in if I can be of help with getting this going!
  21. I for one would also be willing to contribute, do you guys think the wiki is the right place to do it? I applied for an account and I never got approval...
