  1. Cat6 standands a lot stricter than Cat5e if you want to be able to certify your network Cat6. I've had some Cat6 from ebay and looked at it closely and they have made the length up wrong and thus defying the point of it being Cat6. You have to make sure you twist the pairs right up to the end of the socket almost and things like that. But to really answer you question like most people are here you can use it on any ethernet network together with Cat5e and on the same hardware.

    Finding Sites?

Ok, well the host is likely to use a block of IPs that they have bought, and find them out would be to hard, as you can find the IP of one site and then scan around that range. The only problem with that is that wouldn't give you what sites are hosting on them, as they would likely to be running more than one website on a server. So you would have a list of their servers but not sites.
  3. This is the only firmware update I could find for it, http://www.cdfreaks.com/drive/firmware/1042 but it doesn't allow you to write DVD-R/RWs. Personnaly I would say get yourself a new DVD Burner that does, there not that expensive any more and you'll get much better write speeds from it.

    Finding Sites?

I can't think of a system of find all the sites hosted by a certain web host unless the web host has a list of them so that you can look at them. So do this I know because they like to show off their clients and to prove that people are using them. You could probably find out if a site is hosted by a web host by some poking around and looking at various information you can gain easily. But you'll have to do that on a site basis which I take it you don't want to do.
  5. If you told us the make and model of the drive then we could have had a look for you. Most DVD burners burn both types now but some early ones didn't. Cheap option, go and buy DVD+R, more expensive option but excuse to upgrade go buy yourself a nice Plextor DVD burning that does everything and anything.
  6. Well think of the problems of intergrating it into other systems like firefox, theres enough problems with simple html interpretation. Also the update system is likely to be closed source and if it was to work in firefox in a similar manner to how it does at the moment then parts of firefox would have to become closed (as in not over hauling the whole update system).
  7. Well, next time hopefully things will go more smoothly. Just got to learn from your mistakes and not try to repeat them. Out of interest Darren, what tracker did you setup for the hak.5 one? As i'd like to get to the bottom of this, seeming it seems you had some excellent seeds organised as well.
  8. Well perhaps i'm over exagerating on the hak.5 tracker being anti-british, but there have certainly been some problems with it I think.
  9. You could always use that site that produces auto-patchers for windows, can't remember the URL. Really though this is not really that important. I use IE sometimes anyway, as Firefox has problems with some flash at the moment and IE isn't all bad. People should get off their high horse.
  10. I don't want ActiveX in firefox, all that ActiveX is used for is windows updates and infecting you with spyware. I haven't seen another website that uses it for what it was designed to do.
  11. Well all the people that started using this tracker got an increase in speed, it managed to get to 100KBps for me stable so I finished it early this morning.
  12. Yeah, to do windows updates you need ActiveX control, which no other browser than IE supports. Plus the update method is intergrated to the IE program. But why do you need to use windowsupdate through the browser. Just set your computer to automatically download them and then ask to install them with Automatic Update. I just wish Microsoft would make their WSUS server software free for XP uses with multiple machines.
  13. Warez is software that you don't legal own therefore arn't allowed to use it or have it. It doesn't matter how its distributed, over P2P/FTP/Person to Person. Its still warez. Whether the releases passwords the rar or whatever it is coming is, is up to the release group. As I said earlier, just have a look at the .nfo usually to find out about what it is. And remember, Winners don't do warez!
  14. They probably just want us for some in-flight entertainment and light snacking when they get hungry between meals.
  15. I would rather regret going than not going. Theres not really anything here worth staying for. I'll have to wget my girlfriend of course.
  16. Why don't you want people getting a hold of them? You don't need to password them unless they contact personal information (eg. finacial details) or would be really worth something to somebody else to want to steal them. I think you thought it would look cool if you passworded everything and now your living to regret it, ooh the irony. If you going to dictionary attack it/brute force it lets hope you chose a short word from a dictionary. Otherwise your going to be there for a long time.
  17. Should be more careful then next time. I mean, do you really need to password your files? No, and if you did, you wouldn't use WinRAR to password protect them you would use something like TrueCrypt. I thought his original post could have be true or for warez. All I can say is look at the .nfo
  18. It's in .rar format, which is like .zip. But instead of compressing it, it is only being used as a container. "How do I download the DVD? Click the download link, then click the torrent file link. This requires a BitTorrent client. There are several available, or click the Easy Downloader link and a client will be provided for you. What do I do with this .RAR file? Extract the files using a tool like Winrar (shareware), 7-Zip (open source), or UnRarX (mac). Can I watch the DVD on my computer / I don’t have a DVD burner The DVD can be viewed in VLC by selecting File > Open Directory and pointing to the folder you extracted the RAR file to. How can I get the most out of the DVD? For maximum enjoyment we recommend burning to DVD and watching on a big screen with multiple geeks and lots of snacks and caffinated beverages. Where are these Easter eggs you speak of? I would tell you, but I’m under NDA. —Darren " From the news posting. To burn it, you should be able to put the files on one dics (no folder, unless when you unpack it, it has some. so in the root of the disc) and then burn. Then place in your DVD player and play. I can't say for definite as us Brits are having problem downloading. So all I ask is if you are seeding then you add the UK tracker to your torrent. Details can be found here: http://hak5.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1724 Many Thanks.
  19. Ok, created a torrent that has the Hak.5 tracker as first, then my tracker as a backup. It was created from the original .torrent file. www.230volts.co.uk/torrent/hak5--best-of-season-one-dvd.rar.torrent Status of UK tracker can also be found at: http://230volts.co.uk/bt/
  20. Ok, we have a UK tracker that I have set up which hopefully will help the Brits here. People are using it now, but we need people to add it that have completed the download ideally. The tracker is at: http://www.230volts.co.uk/bt/tracker.php/announce Hopefully this will help things.
  21. Ok, well its fairly well known at the moment on IRC that the Brits are getting absolutely crap download speeds off the torrent for the DVD. We're talking averaging 25KBps max. Personally I am only just approaching 50% complete after 24 hours of solid downloading. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on here (its not our ISPs throttling torrent traffic or anything like that because other torrents max my connection out easily.) I might be able to get something sorted but I can't until I finish the torrent which looks like it could be another 24 hours. I think it might be an Anti-British Tracker.
  22. I'm quite happy with mine thanks.
  23. Not too bad, but could be much better. Nice 8-port Gigabit Switch, although it really should be in my server wardrobe. Original Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard (now 8 years old)(I split tea over my nice new one knackering it). Two Generic 300W PSUs, DVD-ROM and Joystick under Creative Subwoofer. Too many wires, death by EMI.
  24. Torrents the way to go people. Just limit your upload if you can't give much back.
  25. 2.5Gbit dl with 1.5Gbit ul fibre connection. Paris is wonderful.
