  1. Heres something that worked for me when I attended college, though may not be feasible depending on your colleges configuration. 1. Find a computer on campus that doesn't have the same constraints placed on it by the schools firewall or ect. --Look in the compsci labs, helpdesk, offices ect. --> any computer that is going to have a general logon for almost all users is best. 2. Set up a proxy (i used ccproxy) on that computer (may have to be clever and get admin privileges for this). --configure it to boot hidden. 2.5 Enable remote connections to that computer, more likely then not you will be able to do this or it is set already. --DOnt forget the name of the computer or IP 3. Leave computer on or connect via a remote connection and start and/or connect to proxy. BAM! unfiltered internet. ***This worked form me and a few buddies for about 200 days, we Didn't use it for torrenting or ect. as to not draw attention to the proxy by the network admin or IT staff. We got caught during a remote session while a tech happened to be updating the software*** --Consequences can be steep for this (FYI), know your colleges policy.
  2. I still dumpster dive at all of the local colleges/universities electronic waste disposal holding areas on a regular basis, though i get some strange looks but security doesnt care. I've goten some working networking stuff out of them, few computers, cases, lots of fans, optical drives, cpu's, wireing, and Audio equipment. I once got a haul of 5 gateways from around 2000 maybe 2002 ( i cant remember) that were all working, they musta been upgrading. Sold a few and gave the rest away to family after I fixed'em up.
  3. Just to add a few to metatrons awesome list Introduction to JAVA Problem Solving with C++: The Object of Programming Modern Operating Systems Linux: The Text Book My Pop's Got me this for Christmas, "The Unofficial Guide to Ethical Hacking" by ankit fadia. An ok read, really a read for noobs and not nearly thorough enough, but it does cover a wide array of topics. Though the TCP/IP section and PERL section were pretty good.
  4. Please don't compare the U.S. to Germany its not even close to being similar, is asinine, and make you seem terribly uneducated. The U.S. is trying, and I don't think too well, to prevent another U.S. Cole, Embasy, 9/11 from happening. After the Cole was attacked the U.S. did nothing and Militaristic/terroristic governmetns took note of it and saw it as weakness, which is why several attacks followed. I know a kid who fought with hammas (spelling>?) before he came to the U.S., and said as much when I spoke with him last at our diolouge we hold on these issues. The religious tensions have always been there, this is simply an opportunity for those who wish to capitalize on said tension and instigate a civil war. It was no wear near a free country, by any standards, western or otherwise. When Fear of Death and Imprisonment is what keeps peace and order, freedom is nowhere to be seen. Of course Iraq is a mess now. Any Country after years of opression and tyranny is going to be seriously messed up after a major war was fought there and freedoms are implemented for the first time in years. Your talking about people who have never had freedom, who have never been able to choose, and who have always been told what to do, not to metion are of a totally diffrent moral and ethical background then the people (U.S. and allies) who are trying to help them deal with this new found freedom. Not to mention the fact that U.S. Democracy's and capitalism is about as alien a concept to these newly freed people as Woman not having any rights is to us. My last point will be that part of the problem is that we anticipated more of the infrastructure to remain intact. We wholly expected the Iraqi army, police, and politicians to remain in tact and anticipated them to take over much sooner. Instead the army and police forces all but disappeared into the general populous.....and why>? Because they were largely conscripted and didn't want to be there, once the fear was gone and they gained these freedoms they chose to leave. This has put the U.S. and its allies in a terrible position, and with more responsibilities then were anticipated. Ultimately extending the timetable far beyond the initially projected ones and Placing Iraq in a very unstable and dangerous state more akin to Vietnam in the 70's then anything else. With time the same downfalls can be prevented, however the U.S. population has very little patience and has a hard time understanding that the time table is now in decades and not years for our involvement.
  5. I used to work at a homedepot and I think the system is probubbly similar. They way it worked at homedepot is: The Wireless networks you are detecting are either the one used for scanning arriving/outbound shipping or in the conference rooms. THey way it works is recieving gets all the stuff from a warehouse and or other store and scans a bar codes. That handheld scanner then transmits the packages information through the wifi to the "central databse" for lack of a better word. THis is where all the shipping, tracking, and ect. goes on. Priceing is actually done by changeing the price field in the store database from a terminal/computer on the lan, the guns are jsut used for counting and inventory, and item lookup, though i know they can acces the price becasue they will display it on occasion but I don't think they can change it as it was always done via a terminal or computer on the lan. A better way to do this would be to break the WEP or WPA passwords one of the access points and then access a computer on the network. At homedepot the OS of choice was windows 2000 and XP. The passwords and user name for consisted of first initial last name ex: bdillon and the password was usually the store code, social, phone number or ect of the person. TO access the "database" you simply need a vary easy to guess username (i cant disclose it) and the depaartment name for the password. With anyluck wallamrt is similar. P.S. It might not be a bad idea to see if you can acces the online training videos for use of there equipment ie scanners, price codeing, and database access. happy hacking
  6. To a majority of people who posted stuff about the U.S. wanting Oil, or any natural resource, Invading Australia, and ect. Please for the Love of god get informed. 1. The U.S. is sitting on top of huge oil reserves. 2. A lot of Oil companies in Arab countries are run by or affiliated with American Oil companies. 3. A majority of Arab Oil Companies (not countries) love the fact we pay them shitloads of money for their Oil. 5. The War on Iraq isn't about Oil or resource its about prevention, flexing our muscles, and fixing mistakes made in the past. 6. We Love the Aussies. I don't Particularly care for the U.S. Government, Politics, or Policies, but I hate ignorance even more.
  7. well killzone is just the handle i use on this forum, and associated activities. Me and my buddies were joking about dangerzone's one night and enjoying a few wobbley pops. I had a few too many and didnt quite follow the conversation and shouted "My danger zone is a killzone" and it became an inside joke. My handle in DOD_S is Gurney, after the baddass Character from Dune. I can be found on quite a few servers Usually in the top 7 rankings almost every night.
  8. All I can say is: 1. A Majority of Americans can't tolerate other cultures, not even our own. Especially in the South. I dont condone those poor wankers getting shit thrown at them but why on earth would you go there of all places, Alabama is know to be the armpit of America and by no means is a basis to be used in any arguement or as a representation of Americans. 2. The rest of this my country is better then your country is crap, were all better then the Arabs down there in the kitty litter box, so lets have at'em.
  9. can you post a picture of the reader so i have an idea of teh dimensions.....it would help. Also, most cd drives use a series of gears, and ect. to open and close, and i dont know how cleanly you can do this but i have a few ideas.
  10. oops totally forgot about kismet.....
  11. Kismac has a built in feature to do just this, however I believe it is still only available for OSX.
  12. metatron: That sounds Awesome...can't get absinthe in the states though.
  13. I just got a 20" similar to what your looking at. I love it. Like others have said, if your using it for gaming, video, or ect, one big monitor is great. I prefer to dev on a dual or quad monitor setup simply so I can see all the code i want and do various other things like chat or watch a movie w/out moving windows around.
  14. This is our Death Punch Recipe, however I think it would suffice for pwn j00ze, unless of course your underage: 2 handles cheep vodka. (if you have grain alcohol use that but tis illegal w.out permit here now (1 bottle only)) 1 750ml raspberry vodka 1 bottle watermelon pucker(liqueur) 1 bottle of the blue pucker (funky flavor i don't remember what it is) 1 bottle 99 berries 6 - 10 packets of ectocooler koolaide Fresh citrus fruit and kiwi's ------------------- 2 or more bottles of fresca (has to be orange or grape fruit flavored soda) OR 64 redbulls or equivalent volume of NRG drink ( I prefer Full Throttle in this mix) and 1 bottle seltzer water (not club soda). --------------------- **This stuff gets on you like you wouldn't believe, consume at your own risk**

  16. do you think this is a one time fluke or that it is a problem inherent to belkin wifi products>? And are you planning on do a proof of concept anytime soon>?
  17. HAHA thats a pretty funny coincidence. On am ore serious note though NRG concerns, global warming, and ect are important issues, I'm personally more alarmed at this administrations further attempts to diminish, and general attitude toward our rights. Might I add the very rights are boys and girls in Uniform (maybe not the government) are overseas fighting for. A majority of the American public is Blissfully ignorant of this. Furthermore, As a patriot to this country, I am shocked and disgusted by recent revelations (declassified internal memos, letters, polices, reports, interviews and speeches) of our current administrations general attitude and beliefs in Human and American rights. I dont want to rant forever on this because I could and am throughly pissed off at the Current state of American Government and Politics atm. **Live free or Die**
  18. Don't work until there 15>>?!?!?!? Times have changed! I was out potato picking (rock removal) as my old man puts it , since I was 11 for our landscaping business, and working on local farms for spending money on the weekends. You kids got it too easy!
  19. Congrats!!! Do you have a name picked out yet>?

    Java

Java's a pretty fun and versatile language. I'm learning it myself at the moment. Here are some useful links: http://www.mindview.net/Books/TIJ/ http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/in...n/download.html Happy Codeing Cooper: Fixed the links.
  21. I have no idea why this is, and who cares, lol. I actually inquired about citizenship a couple months ago, thought id be fun to have a crazy dual citizenship, and maybe a "summer" home in the superstructure, before I knew it was up for sale. I haven't heard back. Guess the ministry of the interior has his hands full with something else. aardwolf: Where did you read that, I'd like to peruse the article myself. -thanks
  22. Sealand is a WWII Gun PLatform Built By the British to combat the Northrn Atlantic/ English Channel U-Boat Threat. Thats all it is. It was founded by some Ex-British military officer after the war, and who declared it a principality and himself King (or prince>? maybe). It isn't actually its own country. Its not recognised by the UN, and Technically exists in Brittins Territorial waters. There are approximately 160 "citizens" mostly buisnessmen, who own or operate companies out of Sealand. It was recently ravaged by a fire, and the repairs are quite expensive, Though it was recently appraised at $50,000,000.(may be $500 mil. can't remember). If you want more info then this: www.sealandgov.org/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealand
  23. Good Where Are they now type article on Captin Crunch AKA John Draper. Though It kinda flames him for being eccentric a bit to much considering all he has done. http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB116....html?mod=blogs
  24. It looks ok now. I think what cooper is saying is dont abbreivate that much in your code if you dont need to. It's annoying to others who are trying to figure out what you did, and unessassary(in this instance). but really NBD (no big deal) I would say just use Array[], I was taught to reserve the use of ivariable for i/o. And using Array[] makes it nice and generic. Also, dont use something obscure for a name for the variale you are returning. I know you are using ret as an abv. for return but use result instead. Its pretty standard, and is good codeing practice. people may disagree with some of this but its a matter of personal preferance sometimes, but jsut thought id share what works for me. [/code]
  25. thanks cooper. I already got it and a few others and have been disassembling them and what not to try and figue out the code. Also, ATItool created by WIZZARD (credit where credit is due) provides some source if you delve into the program files a bit. So i guess it was a good Idea but its been done lol. **JUST as another note most of these programs seem to just access the log for the the information instead of the hardware itself. Im not exploring this any further no need to reinvent the wheel. thanks, monitors you can delete this thread.
