  1. [me=killzone]= duh! ...sorry about that, I didnt read teh entire article i stumbled upon it looking up the DYI jet bike on there.[/me]
  2. It's actually 1/2" fiberboard (shit is like concrete) and ventilation is still to be added, im probubbly gonna cover it with that material they put on sub enclosures and some aluminum corners and edges. The spacing is actually std. the resolution is just terrible.
  3. Metatron: Im not planning on more then 100lbs of equip in it, and none of it is very expensive (unlike most of your equip im sure). The fiber board its constructed of is really tuff 1/2" stuff, it sheared 2 stainless screws w/out pre - drilling on test pieces, also the rails are bolted threw and threw with high grade steel 3/8" bolts, 8 per side, each capable of holding a lot of weight and distributing the load pretty well, and the whole thing is assembled with stainless brackets and bolts at every corner. However if it seems like it cant handle the full load ill simply build a stainless frame and mount the rails to it inside and the stainless inside the case. Mermaid, I got the rails off of ebay for cheap, they were left over from some dudes similar project, everything else is available at homedepot or I had in the house and can be had from there. also, please leave suggestions if you have any, like i said its not finished! :-D --thanks guys!
  4. Hey All: I finally got over to my home away form home and assembled the 19" rack I've been working on forever. It cost less then $100 in materials, and about 5hrs to fab and assemble. I'll work on finishing the diagram / instructions this week. Its doesn't have any of the finishing work done on it Door, ventilation, ect. **EDIT** maybe some spec would be nice eh>? 19" X 25" X 52>?" 24 rack space (24U, 24RU) 42" tall - Powder coated carbon steel :) Tapped 10-32 UNF holes for rack equipment All Fiber board stainless brackets (ill proved an exact brand later)
  5. The following is a step by step procedure for what you are attempting http://www.instructables.com/id/EB07UWNF35J1NJF/ I got this from hackaday.com
  6. Here are the Official Intel PDF and an Erreta table: http://www.geek.com/images/geeknews/2006Ja...01_21__full.gif http://download.intel.com/design/processor...dt/31327914.pdf I know its not a hack, but its good info, and could be used thusly.
  7. sorry for the delayed response.......fishing trip! GL with the cluster, Ive never had a need for one, though i have done some distributed computing before for dev classes. Post some stuff it you get it up and running. -KZ
  8. Now im confused do you want help building a rack or setting up / maintaining a network >? :-?
  9. Nice Java-fu coop, you beet me to it.....is there a need for exception handling here, like if it comes across an ext that it doesn't recognize as an ext >? Maybe not as your ignore case may be enough.
  10. While ( Romanian_Chicks == HOTT ) { Cout << "WOOT" << endl; } Of course we have heard of Romania, Dracula's from there ROFL j/k.
  11. HAHAHA!!!! Your computer pile looks like mine! same gateways and all......are you shopping at your local schools dumpster too! :shock:. Since you have towers and not rack mount cases you may want to rethink how you want to proceed with your project. An ok RM case is about $50 + so at $150 + it'll cost you more to to buy cases then build the rack. Course if your not on a budget go for it and swap 'em over. The Rack im building has about 42 u of actual rack space, and will have a 22" - 28" empty space at the bottom to accommodate towers. You can get rack brackets in sises ranging from 8U up, so you can build a rack of almost any size, or custom build outa angle iron / steel / aluminum ......if you have the equip. I actually have another project going on that is a Touch screen jute box, using rack mount equip.....but funds are holding me back.....LAME.
  12. thanks vako! I'll look at those sites a bit. I called hp and they wanted to charge me money for the manual and or send it in......f-that, i know theres a PDF out there somewhere on the net, and I could take it apart anyways i just dont wanna be holding some part after reassembly and being like....hmmmm must be extra ( haha like that extra lego piece / nut or bolt you always end up with ROFL!!)
  13. hey if you can wait another coupe weeks ill have my build of one up in the mods section :).....You can build one for el-cheapo so stay tuned!
  14. Hey all, need a little help locating a service Manuel for hp laserjet 4000n.....for freebies ;). One of our older network printers decided to get borked and sounds like a jackhammer when attempting to print. No really, its so loud we can hear it on the bottom floor of the building and its not printing. I can clearly see that the gears and moter that drive the feed mechanism aren't working properly. However, to get to them I need to disassemble quite a bit of the printer.....hence I would love a service manual. I know your saying why not buy another and well we may have too....but then we dont get our new microtek scanner :)....and i wants my new toy. thanks for the help, even pages to search for the manual myself would be great. -KZ
  15. Hey Moo, that error is pretty common but ive never investigated it, try using the fix alias option that usually works for me, or simply exit from the error window wait a min and the connection will appear (%70 of the time)....I know those are lame solutions but it works fine for me.
  16. DEAGS: Before you go a splicing into that sub I'd simply check the wiring and jacks maybe even trying out a new jack or cleaning it up. Also maybe try soldering on a new jack to see if thats the casue of the problem. If you decide to splice make sure the amp in the sub, if it indeed has one, power outputs can handle the speak draw. Check the ohms, and amperages out, otherwise bad things can happen, like magic smoke :) If worse some to worse i'd be willing to ship you out a spare set of PC speakers if you pay shipping. -PZ
  17. kateweb what chipset does it the dlink have>?
  18. I am tentatively coming, need hard time's to make sure I can take time off work.
  19. If Im using my mac Powerbook I use Kismac, its ok, can be buggy, then again my mac is buggy :P ! I think its compatible with prism 2.5 chipsets now. You can purchase a PCMIA or USB wireless card that has a prism 2 or 2.5 chipset and select the correct driver for it....then you can use that card to "inject" packets and the apple's onboard card to cap packets or however you wish to configure your hardware.
  20. gonzor>>> your right a SMART admin wouldn't cache there pswds locally and would configure windows to behave thusly, however given the ease at which I have done this exact same thing at several HS, colleges, and Universities, i figured he may find success with it. If windows is not configured to not cache the psswds of anyone who logs into the machine locally, not to the network, you may find one theres something there after all. ** just as a note i just did this on my work computer, and what do you know, theres a tech's, 2 employee's, and an interns psswd all cached locally.
