  1. We use dropbox on the backend at Hak5 to transfer video files to each other, it's a great service. But it's a far cry from the power All Ways Sync delivers. Can Dropbox do dozens of gigs to a WebDav site? ;)
  2. Boxes of crap. Get 'em while they're hot. http://shop.ebay.com/hak5darren/m.html?_tr...0.m14&_vc=1
  3. Dev kits shipped today. That means if you signed up you have a 1 in 5 chance of finding a rubber ducky at your door in 1 week if you're in the USA or 2 weeks if you're across the pond. The selection process consisted of Evil Server, a 6-pack of New Castle Brown Ale and a game I like to call Scroll Wheel Roulette. I tried to PM everyone who was selected but it turns out 80% of people on the forum have disabled their messengers so no dice. Not sure what to tell ya since I didn't collect email addresses and don't have time to cross reference 'em with the forums. Sorry to be vague but I'm busy moving. =/ This is what I sent: Today I shipped you a USB Rubber Ducky Dev Kit. This is a semi-automated message. Please do not reply. I do not frequently check private messages. You dev kit may or may not include a USB 5-pin mini to USB Male A adapter or cable, 5 way DIP switch, assorted LEDs, Hak5 stickers or old bits of laptop RAM I had laying around the house and needed to get rid of. All shipments were made to the address you provided by USPS First-Class mail. I cannot provide tracking numbers or reship if yours gets lost in the mail. Domestic shipments should take between 3-5 days. If you live outside the US expect a week or two for delivery. International hackers should also be happy to know all shipments were declared as a $1 gift. Hope that thwarts any additional VAT. I'll be on the board and wiki with sample code soon. quack quietly. D
  4. They are made in small batches. Just-in-time inventory style. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-in-time_(business) So somewhere in between build to order and keeping real stock.
  5. Either IP you mentioned (1.110 or 1.2) will work. Personally when I static devices I leave 'em outside the DHCP pool so I'g go with 192.168.1.2.
  6. That's what the Ducky should default to, an apple keyboard. Ya know, for kicks.
  7. Agreed, TWiki looks fantastic. I've seen some docuwiki's that I don't totally hate but TWiki seems more forward thinking.
  8. Maybe get this made into a small sticker for my helmet:
  9. I didn't have any problems in front of Parliament with my DSLR. That reminds me, I haven't uploaded any pics from that trip. Oops.
  10. I used it all year to connect to network printers and shared network drives. I left two USB keys at the office. One labeled "Add Xerox Workstation to your computer" and one labeled "Add Logistics Shared Folder to your computer" Very handy since I was working from home at the time and rather than have to do a remote support session I'd just tell 'em to grab the USB key from the supply closet. Maybe that's why I got laid off..... I replaced myself with a tiny shell script. :(
  11. This is great. Seriously. When big names like Amex start using methods like these to "secure the users" it becomes an accepted practice to allow foreign HIDs. Much like the convenience of having optical media autorun, because otherwise grandma might get confused if nothing happens when she pops in the Kodak Picture CD the grand kids sent over into the computamajiggy. Convenience. Trust. Pwnage. To be honest the weakest link, causing everything else to compromise security, is between most keyboards and chairs. We need to rethink users and I believe only genetics can solve this problem. (j/k)
  12. http://www.abc2news.com/mediacenter/local....amp;navCatId=14 It seems in Baltimore it's illegal to record someone with audio without their consent. It also seems that off duty officers can bolt at you with a gun. Dude faces up to 5 years in prison. Cops even seized his computers and cameras. WTF. Edit: Found the actual video: and writeup http://www.popehat.com/2010/04/14/embarras...-years-in-jail/ /via @joeuser47
  13. It's quite a cheap endeavor, at least initially. It's when you're adding a bunch of sensors, memory card housings, TF cards, and rubber duckies that it starts to add on. And even then it's still a small price to pay for potential pwnage.
  14. Ninja Duckies?! For the MF Win! Where'd you find 'em? All I could conjure were Pirates.
  15. Thanks go to Jason and Vako who broke, unbroke, broke again, and fixed the wiki.
  16. The Wiki needs to move to a new platform. Mediawiki is great and all but. Hell, who am I kidding. Mediawiki is crap. What do you guys recommend? With it back up I can at least easily transfer the important articles. Open to suggestions. D
  17. Can I just say that I haven't smoked for over 3 years but given that I'm about to bike across the country I'm really wishing I could have a smoke. Too bad I've got asthma, else I'd totally get myself a bunch of mini cigars for the trip.
  18. The camera I showed off in 709 doubles as a webcam via USB. Also, I've done just that with a webcam mounted on my front fairing connected to an eeepc in my tankbag with Internet through a tethered Droid. Way too much complication to stream video. Then I tried mounting my Droid in my helmet. It worked quite well, except for the audio. I can fix that with an external mic but I won't bother. My new helmet doesn't fit the droid and TBH I'm not interested in live streaming while riding. Constantly recording while riding on the other hand is more useful. When the Hack Across America tour is over I hope to put together a great travel video. Sorta like my Roundabout The Chesapeake Bay videos but longer. Anyway, I'm more a fan of "produced" content. As for helmet cams, there are a ton out there between the Aiptek, Vholdr, GoPro, etc. I much prefer a homebrew solution that sits *inside* the helmet. I think I have just that solution with the cam I showed off on 709. It turns out I over paid (~$60) -- they can be had on Ebay for a third that shipped. So, considering that I'm happy with the video performance and they'll shoot for 3 hours continuously -- I picked up two more. Woot for small cheap electronics. D
  19. I specifically use this duck: http://www.centurynovelty.com/detail_227_163-227.html However if you're feeling sparky this duck is a good bet too: http://www.centurynovelty.com/detail_266_146-1015.html The Teensy++ 2.0 will work just as well as the regular Teensy 2.0
