  4. see if you can get an updated bios then u flash the bios and then im sure ull have that option
  5. i think it was made to create combat 2d games if im not mistaken
  6. i would go for ubuntu its all rounded its got a nice interface and theres tons of stuff you can do with it. As for the partitioning if you mean you want to resize a partition then yes you can and nothing should go wrong unless you mess too much around with partition tables

  9. i still think that pepsi idea was great...i think digip made a post about it
  10. i was always scared to move from Windows to any other os because well im sure alot of us would agree that you grow acustom to something and feel that you dont want to move away from it. But anyways i was always interested in Linux so one day i said what the hack let me switch to fedora since that was the only linux i had, man was i surprised to find i couldn't run exe files and maneuvering around the place was all scary (this was way before i came on hak5 and way before i had any skill) So i quickly moved back to windows. Now not to long i decided argh what the hack i know that my knowledge of computers now will help me and i knew alot more about linux so i moved to linux and now im on it ever since. Ive noticed the improvements in performance of my computer and how easy i found it to work with linux packages and getting around things. It grew on me and loved the fact that when ever you stuck a quick trip to google and the answer would stare you in the face on the first link. Now im a die hard Linux fan, In one month i managed to gather about 6 different distros and tested it a little but when i got time ill delve deeper into it.... Sorry for the long post but just thought id share my story in case someone felt also scared to move from Windows to linux and is indecisive ^_^
  11. sorry for posting twice but i remember the cat command its cat file-you-wana-hide.zip >> file-that-you-hiding-in.jpg then the jpg file will contain your hidden file. To view your hidden file you just rename the extension of the image or whatever you used to the extension of the file you hiding in this case we just rename jpg to zip. The image will still be seen in the the thumbnail but when you open it it will open as a zip. I just tried it now :D
  12. why dont you just use some program to zip it up and password protect it/encrypt and the when the folder/all files are in one file be it a zip/rar/tar.gz etc then you hide it in a another file like maybe an image or something when you open the image it will just be an image, i use to do this alot, i used to do it in mp3s and the mp3s would work fine i dont know why i try it nowadays and it doesnt work but the image thing still works. Basically you just do what i said and then save it as a png or something then people wont expect anything because png are usually much bigger than jpeg's. I know how to do this in windows, but i forgot how to do it in linux. Anyways when you want to view the actual files again you just right click the image and open with winrar or what ever program you used to zip it and the program will show you the zipd file. in windows cmd you can type copy /b the-image.jpg + your-file.zip new-file.jpg Well ok i take it you understood that command or probably already know it. Maybe you can mess around with other file types In linux you use the cat command but like i said i forgot how to do it lol sorry Anyways hope that helped
  13. Havent you heard of gifar? just give it a little google youll find tons of info. Though this isnt a new concept but still dangerous. Theres even a video you may find to show how to make one but it leaves out critical info well for obvious reasons. As for your topic, worms would be a perfect example of how peoples computers can get infected accross networks, and as Moonlit said about the users viewing dangerous sites. If it were possible you could use the coffee shops router and if you could enter it and redirect traffic to a page with say a trojan dropper then youd get a whole coffee shop of victims. well ok thats just theory i would never advise a person do that. We all hate malware, its not something you would want happen to you
  14. Firtly you need to be admin and secondly you need to know the ip of the pc you shutting down then what you do is run this command shutdown -m \\ipaddress -s You replace ipaddress with the persons ip or the computer name i cant really remember its long since i did this. Oh and you have to be part of the network obviously Alternativly you can get third party utilities to do this for you and microsoft also made utils for this. Besides that if you running a server os to shut dpwn a client on the network then they come with powerful tools that can probably do this. Hope that helped

South Africa. Im wishing i can work in London one day
  16. im thinking its the hdd, ayways you could check it by popping the hdd in the freezer (keep it in a airlockd container) for maybe a day and then install it in the pc again if your hdd runs fine for an hour or two and then slows down again then you can be sure its the hdd. Btw if you think its a dumb idea putting an hdd in a freezer then google it youll see that it helps to recover data or helps a failing drive for a while so it may just give you an answer that it is your hdd
  17. try to get a live linux cd then use an antivirus like clamav and then scan the drives oh and im sure ull be able to delete that zip file from your live linux, well its just a sugestion though i dont know if calm will pick up all the virii, i usually use do that when i get infected usb's,and it works well for me and i make sure to unhide all files on the flash to see if clam missed anything then id just delete it ...or you can format :D
