  1. Xampp will take care of all of those in one download. :) Ok that is sweet package then, I have not run a Windows Laptop for quite a while now so have not had a need for such a solution. Though I will run up a Windows DomU and have a look at it as that would be a great solution for some peopel I know that runa site/blog as a hobby and need a dev space to work in.
  2. Telnet is an awesome tool, it is my #1 trouble shooting tool. I have seen this and was very impressed with all of the work that they had invested into recreating the movie in ASCII. I have seen another star wars ASCII conversion that was done using XINE as well which was cool as well.
  3. you definatly want your NAS on a wired network that is for sure especially if you are putting in a large RAID 5 or RAID 0 + 1 array as you will need the bandwidth.
  4. for managing a Linux box from windows I would have to say use SSH and go in form the command line or else if you need a GUI you could use VNC tunneled over SSH or an SSL install of Webmin.
  5. I do not know if you will be able to get this to work as PXE would need to see the MAC of the box that is booting and over a WAN yo u have routers that in most cases do not pass mac data through. Thou saying that I know that the 'ip helper' config option in a cisco router will pass the mac for dhcp requests dont know if it will do PXE as well.
  6. for MySQL it is easy download the community edition from the website: http://mysql.org/downloads/mysql/5.0.html#downloads There are the GUI tools that are the done by the Mysql guys: http://mysql.org/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html BUT (and there is always one) I prefer to use PHP My Admin which you can get from: http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php Though you will have to install PHP as well for your web server I use Apache in Dev and IIS in production.
  7. As metatron said the Atheros cards work really well with Linux I have a USB one that I have used in a WRT and it is great. Have a look at the Madwifi/Atheros Wireless Linux Driver Users Guide: http://madwifi.org/users-guide/ OR If you really are unhappy with the Atheros chipset have a look at http://tuxmobil.org/ I am sure that thy have a list some where of wireless cards. The othere chipset that I have had great success with is the Orinoco chipsets I always have my silver in my GO BAG.
  8. There would be alot of free bandwidth if that was the case :)
  9. Just did the test: Your BMI is 23.88 If your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9 you're an ideal weight for your height. To maintain this, make sure you have a healthy, well-balanced diet and keep active with regular exercise. This will lower your chances of developing heart disease, diabetes and other health problems, and help keep you feeling good. Even if your weight is ideal, you need to keep an eye on your waist size. People who are 'apple-shaped' rather than 'pear-shaped' are more at risk from health problems. I also emaild this to my wife as she is telling me I need to get into shape. I guess chasing my kids arround does more for my fitness than I thought.
  10. WOW I didnt expect my stupid comment to stir up such a conversation cool
  11. hehehe little finger weights cool, just remember that Homer got robbed by Bart when he had the heavy hand on.
  12. Yeah I really dont see the point of hacking your high school computer, the cute chicks you are trying to impress wont understand all they know how to do with a computer is copy slabs of text out of Wikipedia, change the font, add a title and hand it in as there home work. :-P
  13. I doubt it as this is one of the ways that a cracker or phisher will test or use a credit car by making these small payments. I think there was some talk about this on the Network Security podcast.... at least I think that is what I was listening to.
  14. Well that sucks it is such a great utility for testing connectivity when doing trouble shooting in networks. I am asuming that you can install it though, I have not played with Vista yet, most of my hardware is packed in boxes for the last couple of months till my new house is built.
  15. Worst. Choice. Ever! I thought they went hand in hand :)
  16. My #1 tool would have to be telnet can get so much done just using telnet.
  17. Another thing is if you knew what signal to send the cards you could set them off in someone's pocket and "steal" there credit card with out them knowing just by wandering past with a correctally configured RFID reader. This is scary if your bank sends you one go and buy an RFID shielded wallet from here: http://www.difrwear.com/products.shtml
