  2. Try a chkdsk /F Edit - Removed anti-windows comment, not wanting to start a flame fest. yea yea i know, cant help but to get aggravated and frustrated with good ole' windows sometimes... back to topic, i will try that on my next attack... im also thinking about doing another sfc /scannow for the hell of it... is there any other system file repairs i can perform? do you know of any good dos shell AV/AS/Reg Repair programs? Not really. I honestly did not even know they had DOS AV's. Hey man just for the heck of it as well try booting into it in safe mod and running the task explorer.exe then waiting 5-10 minutes to see if it at least starts... maybe you shall have better luck. Read your pm's I sent something that might help.

    Error Msg on Boot

I did a bit of research. What you have is a Trojan, its the latest version of "Vundo".
  5. Yeah, but that's what *you* think. I completely disagree that to try Linux you need to abide by the ethos and elitism that dogs the open source world. I'm sick of this attitude that if you had to compile it and configure every last minute detail then you must be uber-leet... you're not, it just means you're more patient and like things to run a few milliseconds quicker. Some people don't want or need that, some people just want things to work. I agree in the sense of people thinking they are leet just because they run the OS. This is probably a over used saying but - "its not what you have its how you use it" is really something I apply to many Linux users. I had a friend who recently thought he was as you said "uber-leet" because he installed the OS and learned a couple bash commands, when it came down to installing Beryl he had his head in a whole not knowing what to do. Really alot of people you hear talking about "yeah this linux guru compiles everything to his kernel" which alot really do not know how to do and I find a waste of time. I would rather yum -y install nameofapp than having to go through the process of compiling from source. Nowadays Linux elitists think they know everything and I will be straight honest with you when I first got into Linux about 2 years back I had the same mindset that because I ran this "oh so godlike" OS I am god. It is really not like that especially now where a random guy could download a pre-compiled ISO of his Distro of choice, burn it up then gui install it and gui install all his apps in packages. I remember or at least I know those who used Linux when a Distro was not this beautiful little ISO he could just burn up but actually had to go through the process of compiling the Distro and writing down the address of his modem and other things that are now "auto detected" in these nice little GUI installed Distros. Same goes for *BSD nowadays it is much easier to install even partitioning in it has a auto function for those who do not even know what the proper size of a swap should be. I can go on and on but that would be worthless hopefully you get what point I am trying to make moonlit.
  6. Damn, I swear I or one of my friends had this problem and I know I fixed it. There had to be something else I did. Have you tried a disk defrag... it may help you never know.
  7. Nice wallpaper, did you take that shot? Nah, I was looking around on the internet for landscape wallpapers, and this on came up, with a lot of others, but the color detail of this on, got my attention. Here man check out interfacelift.com you can find great wallpapers over there.
  8. Oh! If its a corrupt system file then just do this. Pop in the XP disc go into console Run - sfc /scannow That should fix it :D

    Tor Question

It took me 30 seconds to google the answer. :P
  10. Yes I saw it. But I do not understand they got the password that someone posted on a forum they never actually hacked it themselves. They target things with known vulnerabilities... you are correct Then why are we wasting DB space with this garbage. like that last post? I think it's becasue you didn't realize how stupid people are. (the news/media, not you) I realize it but see those guys basically just want attention... why are we giving it to them. They probably google themselves and look at all the posts made about them hoping someone would say they are "1337". we're not giving them attention, its the most retarded american network there is, "FOX", that's giving em the attention. ... look america is stupid, nothing to do about it, .... why do you think they have such a terrible government ? and they cant even help their stupidity cos they're educational system is shit ... the only reason they air shit like this is to get people afraid so they would allow em to pass rediculous laws like the ones that would allow em to tap everyone online . ... I am not american but I live in america. The educational system is great here, much better than in other countries. People (teenagers etc..) are stupid because they do not care about school and this is caused by the media, music videos, hip hop all that garbage which infects there minds. It is not due to the educational system.

  12. Oh then simple copy locofnewfile locofoldfile /y
  13. Not to be a ass but I suggest learning batch scripting... that was a useless comment but hopefully it helps you. The location of your desktop background is in a registry string. Yes you can do this, you will need to learn registry editing and the sleep func.
  14. Possibly giving a name/link to this "bootable Distro that specializes in data/partition backup" you speak of might help him instead of him hearing your opinion which gives no insight into what he needs help with.
  15. You might have to at some point put down your guns and pop in a Knoppix disc so you can do a backup then just reinstall the OS.
  16. You definitely pulled that number out of your ass. I would definite say that most schools will let you use a flash drive. Well if by ass you mean any college with an IT guy. (concerning public student computers) You are right. If you have a school computer access account you most likely can access it. username - initials.idnumber (no .'s) password - initials of school. example - hjgsd
  17. Run a registry scan on it. http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/ That is how I fixed the problem on a friends PC.
