the master like i said in the post gets mute before its halfway down. its not my speakers. im using skull crushers from skull candy and these are high quality and have worked well since i got them. what im saying is i need more control over the volume.

got it from google images. searched for ubuntu studio. wanted to celebrate my new OS but i havent gotten used to the gimp again yet so i just downloaded an image. im working on a new wallpaper with ubuntu studio style

with some work it could be a next gen netbook could it not? definitely not the most powerful device out there but it would be by far the most portable

this is a topic i make every month or so on another forum and its gotten popular when it pops up. essentially you post the music you listen to. not all the music you like. just what youve been listening to since the last topic was posted(since this is the first instance use within about the last month) what you do is post links to youtube vids with the song. youtube has damn near every song on the planet so it should satisfy what you need for this. the point of this topic is so you can find new songs and bands that you might like based on what the other members are listening to. you dont have to seperate into catagories like this. this is just something i do to make it easier for people to find the stuff they would and wouldnt listen to. although i believe that not giving a song a chance based on its genre is closed minded and pointless. since it only takes about 30 seconds of your time(once the video is streaming you go back to w/e you were doing. therefore it doesnt take a whole song of your life away) these genres are BROAD. meaning i dont want to get flamed because something isnt in the proper sub-genre. i dont have the patience to have 20 genres up here. i dont list bands because im tired of bands getting a bad rap. just because you dont like 1 or 2 songs doesnt mean they dont make any good ones. try to have an open mind link :songtitle. i wanted to know if there was a program for something and was going to make a topic about it. but then i decided that would just spam the forums with a 2 post topic. instead i decided to make this. which i guess is basically the same thing but with a twist. heres how this topic works. is there something you need a program for but dont know of any? post what you need here and let the community answer instead of having so many topics. do you want to know if a program exists or not? post here and find out. thats basically how this topic is supposed to work. ive seen it in old forums i was on and it did well but those forums are all dead lol. ill start 1: is there a program to control the volume in ubuntu? i know the volume control it has but its either deafeningly loud or mute. there are 3 sliders on it. the master which makes it go from loud to quiet at about 4/5 max volume. then the rest of the slider is from quiet to mute. the other 2 sliders are doing something different from the first but are identical to each other. if i move them down at all its a drastic change in volume. if i barely move them 1/6 of the way down its muted. its driving me nuts and i wanna know if theres a program that can better handle it. windows has a nice system of 2 sliders. master and wav. i can usually set them both to about midway then i can control the master with the volume on my laptop and things are within a good volume range. 2: a vixy.net clone if there is one or a tutorial for clive(command line. sudo apt-get install clive) ubuntu thats it for me for now. post away peeps. make sure you read the entire topic to find out whats been answered and what hasnt and see if you can may be answer some questions. post yours either way. edit before anyones an ass about this and calls me a noob. i know there are more sliders in both ubuntu and windows. im just referring to the ones that actually have an effect on my problem

just installed this game and its caught my attention for the strange way it works. most tdm style fps games have 2 distinct teams with very similar abilities. while this game is something completely different. you can be human or alien. there are 2 classes for human. rifle and construction. rifle is basically being able to use an automatic weapon. construction you only get the semi auto blaster but you can build stuff like gun turrets and spawnpoints. the aliens also have 2 classes. ive only tried 1 though and i cant remember its name. i like it. you have no projectile. you fight by running into your opponent and biting them. which sounds like a rip but your like the face humpers from the movie alien. your small and hard to shoot and you move quick. but i like it because you can climb on walls and ceilings without any restriction whatsoever. no getting tired and falling. no slow movement. no only on certain walls. completely free to run anywhere. i just find it an interesting multiplayer game. anyone who wants to play a game post and ill setup a server if i can. its cross platform windows and linux. either can get it here http://tremulous.net/files/ linux players can do sudo apt-get install tremulous and then if you want you can do sudo apt-get install tremulous-* to get the extra stuff like the server setup. the game is open source so its free

how about this: Duration: 7days Language: any Challenge: make a txt adventure. a fairly short one. but the more convoluted your method of creating this the better. i/e if the code is complicated but the game only has 2 moves. long code short game. but no comment spam to make the code longer. Winner: the one who's code is extremely convoluted and full of pointless redundancy yet it is glitch free and is a complete text adventure. its simple enough for anyone to enter (all you need to know about a language is taking input, printing to screen, if/then, and goto) but can provide a challenge to someone who really tries
