  1. Sounds like you are going to turn wifite into an infusion.... Sounds good to me. :)
  2. For 3. I would ssh in and run ifconfig just to double check what the state of wlan1 is before turning on Monitor Mode. But assuming that is good lets talk about power... Are you using a battery or wall plug?
  3. Well I guess it can use ext3 but I'm pretty sure it normally formats to ext4 with some swap space. I'd head to the Resources Tile, USB Tab and use the Format SD card function. That should set it up automatically.
  4. infosecwriter, A few suggestions you might try. 1. Install Jammer to the internal memory to rule out SD card issues. 2. If you want the name of your Pineapples AP to be "linksys" and persistent, do that, then reboot before you proceed. Then log on to the linksys AP. Because you are turning on Karma it doesn't really matter anyway as your victims will see many different SSIDs. But best to have that set and stable before Jamming. 3. Don't do step 9. In fact if there is a Stop WLAN1 button hit that. Once you know wlan1 is in the Down state turn on monitor mode. Then turn on Jammer. I can't guarantee any of this will help but it's what I would do.
  5. Seems like taking the SSIDs found by Karma and sending them to a file that could be refreshed by the Occupinapple Infusion using the with MAC address option, so that they all get Internet if you're providing it, might achieve what you're describing. But that also seems like exactly what Karma does to begin with.
  6. St3v3, I can't tell if you are serious or just kidding around on the entropy thing... I've always considered the bunny as the equivalent to the Hourglass mouse icon in Windows, so just busy. Of course there may be a concept with Linux and a different definition of entropy that I am completely missing. So is the SD card you are talking about the one that you did the upgrade of the system with? If you were in recovery mode and you put the two files on it to upgrade then during that process it should have formatted that SD card with a data partition and a swap partition. If it is one you put in after the fact I'm assuming you formatted it using the Resources tab so that it gets formatted in exactly the same way as the automated process. If you've done either one and it's still not mounting the SD card there is something else going on. If your SD card is formatted properly it should be a valid destination for installing Infusions. Main storage is a viable option for install as well but it is very limited in space so you run out of space quickly and if you put too many Infusions in Main storage and leave no room then the pineapple can start to behave strangely as it has no swap space. (We sometimes saw that strange behavior in the Mark 4 if you let a log file write to the internal memory and it used it all up, it would usually crash.) I usually only install two very small Infusions to the internal main memory. Usually it's the WiFi Manager and Site Survey so that I can do some basic things even if my SD card breaks or gets corrupted when I'm in the field.
  7. locks180, I apologize for your post getting thread jacked... Unfortunately I have not seen the video you are talking about so I don't think I can answer your questions. mw3demo, xrad, and yabasoba, First let me state that I am also a customer and I have no affiliation at all with Hak5 or anyone else here personally. I come here to learn and help and be a part of this project. That's it. I've tried to make it very clear that my posts are my personal opinion. It's not that I don't understand your example of purchasing a router, I just see it differently. You didn't buy a router you bought a Pineapple. To me there is a definite difference between the two. There are several applications for the pineapple that don't require Client Mode or a higher speed than what it currently provides. Is there a difference in the speed it can handle and the a/b/g capability that is advertised? Yes. You made your point in the other post. It was accepted and they stated they were working on it. I have no issue with that whatsoever... it's a perfect use of the forums and I did not berate or belittle in any way for pointing out a problem. That original post helps people make an informed decision about making a purchase or not if they bother to read the forums and do research beforehand. Coming into posts like this and trying to dissuade people from purchasing a pineapple is what I have an issue with. Taking it as a personal mission to tell new people who post here about one specific issue is not helping them to make an informed decision. That's playing cheerleader for your own pet problem. As I tried to indicate, if you read this forum you will find other items (eth0 port or karma issues) that might actually affect what you want to do with the pineapple and your decision to purchase or not. This is what separates his actions from yours. Darren has posted a great response/update in the original thread. As usual his post is as professional as it is informative. And I am not trying to detract from that response or stir up shit. If you feel as a customer you have the right to do this then also as a customer I take it as my right to call bullshit where I see it. They can ban me as quickly as anyone else.
  8. locks180, Despite what mw3demo calls "growing pains" the Mark 5 is a great piece of kit and has been since launch. I don't use it as a home router and how I use it is not impacted by what he's talking about in his post. I suspect others are in the same situation. Only 2 days ago Darren Kitchen stated they are going to research that specific issue and see what they come up with. Apparently 48 hours isn't fast enough and he'd rather tell them how to run their business. But everybody is entitled to their opinion. So, buy the pineapple or not... it's your choice. I've had a lot of fun using and learning with mine. The user manual is a free PDF you can read through before buying and then there are a few of the Pineapple University videos to watch as well as Youtube videos for some of the infusions. And of course read through this forum back to front. And then do it again.... :) Lots of great info on good and bad things you may run into while using. mw3demo, While I appreciate you brining that issue to the Hak5 team's attention, as a fix will just make the Mark 5 even better for everyone, in my opinion you've now crossed a line and have chosen to try to actively discourage people from purchasing a Pineapple. And you've done it in their own forum... Again, just my opinion but that makes you a troll.
  9. Short answer is yes, it will work. Amplifiers work great for many different applications. I use a Hawking amp and a large antenna all the time. You don't need two unless what you are trying to do might need it. I use one on the wlan0 side when I want to broadcast the AP further away. I use it on the wlan1 side for Reaver or bully. Etc
  10. I don't know that there is anything specifically geared towards what you are trying to do. Site Survey will tell you the Access Points in the area but it doesn't do exactly what you're looking for with all probe requests. You may want to check out Kali Linux and Kismet....
  11. LOL point taken. I wasn't sure how many people knew about the magic smoke that runs electronics.
  12. In my answer I was trying to stick with the design of the Pineapple with the available ports... I'm assuming you're talking about interfacing with the Realtek on the PCB were it connects to the USB bus. Most likely while the Pineapple is not powered on? You'd have to wire in a male USB connector to the correct points on the board to make that work. Am I in the ballpark? That seems like an ugly way to neuter a pineapple and not really an option for a pineapple slice kit?
  13. I understand your concern, but you didn't buy a toaster with one simple function. There may be several different reasons why it didn't work right out of the box. Some of them on Hak5's end, some during transport, some on your end. We'll never know for sure. Others have experienced this and I've given you a possible way to fix it yourself. But that's all your choice. Contact the Hakshop for a replacement if you're not willing to go that extra mile. I admit, it seems like most of us have extra crap around the house from other projects to use and that might not be the case for you. Either way, I'm done here.
  14. Also, https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/30576-mark-v-5-minute-boot-up/page-2 Blinking amber means it's looking for update files. I'd check your SD card and make sure the files are on there... Maybe use a different SD card with the proper files. Basically yes, this has been asked before and answered.
  15. You're trying to use the pineapple as a USB dongle.... The problem is both your laptop and the Pineapple have female powered ports. If you found a cable that was Male/Male USB and actually plugged it in, at the very least your pineapple will fry. I can't even say what would happen to your laptop. Why would you want to do this anyway? If you want a WiFi USB dongle get an Alfa. The Pineapple itself is capable of doing the same thing as the Fern program in Kali.
  16. I had exactly the same issue when I upgraded. I just refresehed in Chrome and then I think I finally turned off the browser and then turned it back on. Then everything started to load. Might be a cache issue... but definately on my end and not the firmware.
  17. St3v3 and google_pro, There is a new firmware out. If you can get to your Management page via the wlan0 broadcasted Access Point please use Client Mode to Connect to an Internet Connected Access Point and perform the firmware update. Then let us know if you are still having problems. Also, if you are still having issues don't keep using the same ethernet cable or same computer if you can help it... Also, try posting screenshots of your computers ipconfig information or screenshots of the applicable Configuration screens. Again, only if you're still having issues.
  18. I think at this point screenshots of your settings may be the best route.
  19. There'd be some angry people at Airports if it did... But shipments/packages may be exposed to higher levels of radiation. You never know. Good luck.
  20. Ok, Another option might be here: https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/31762-solid-green-and-amber-lights/ USB seemed to have worked for jorrit... and somebody else formatted their sd card to EXT2
  21. https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/31166-recommended-21-mbps-hspa-3g-dongle/?hl=%2Bat%26amp%3Bamp%3Bt+%2Baircard#entry235513 Try some of the links in there... Apparently the Pineapple should support over 300 different USB dongles.
  22. What do you mean the "one"? Shouldn't there be two files? The image and the checksum? There are exact steps to doing a reset, just trying to make sure you didn't miss anything. And I'm not sure where your expectations lie but the hakshop might not get back to you in the timeframe you're expecting. They're a busy bunch.
  23. 172.16.42.42 at 255.255.255.0 is what the eht0 port is set to. That's it... no dhcp unless you've done some serious tweaking of your network settings. If you set that up and getting to the management page gives you an error, tell us what error you get. What happens when you try to ping?
  24. Well that's why I said it's not really an "extender".... Client Mode just uses wlan1 to attach to the other Access Point and then your pineapple makes that internet available to everyone via it's own access point name. Really an extender would take the original access point and actually extend it by being a repeater. Different concepts but your goal of being able to access your own wifi is still accomplished. Yes the Karma report section can tell you who is connected but I'm pretty sure the "status" infusion will do that as well. Status just happens to be a little more cpu intense. As for urlsnarf, it doesn't matter if Karma is on or not it just matters that you have traffic, either dragged in by Karma or just folks connecting to your named Access Point (Free WiFi, Starbucks, attwifi, etc) and you'll want to point it at br-lan not at wlan0. Not sure about the error but try it on br-lan first and see what happens, also without karma on. Just turn it all on and then you surf to a few sites to see how well it picks it all up...
  25. Mr-Protocol, He said, "When i bought a usb to dc adapter i connected the dc to the external battery (from hak5) and the usb into the pineapple". If I read that correctly, he plugged the barrel cable end that is supposed to go into the pineapple into the battery. Then he plugged the USB end of that cable into the pineapple. Didn't he basically power the pineapple through the USB port and fry it?
