  1. I was thoroughly dissapointed with the Tron movie. It sucked imo, cool idea but the content lacked, the beginning was cool where he sneaked in and hacked his own company then parachuted off the building but after that, when in Tron mode it got boring. I never really played that video game eaither so maybe that is partly why I thought it sucked.
  2. Got the VM's to ping each other using bridged & connect to the internet, but I dont want my real OS in the middle of all my goofed up BT4 attacks. I remember being warned several times by DigiP not to use a bridged connection for this lol :) NAT does not seem to be working for me, and I think we have different versions (most likely a end user mistake by me). In custom settings, VM2=Win XP should be the host correct? since I am using the other VM1=BT4 to try and attack that one?
  3. DigiP, I checked out virtual network manager, and changed the settings to "custom" with vm#1-bt4 & vm#2-win-xp, still can not get a google screen or net connect from eaither one. I have used bridged before to just connect to the net threw the VM, but this is a different type of situation of usage. here is the screenshot.. screenshot: http://img855.imageshack.us/i/subnetting2.jpg How did you get to the one you posted? Do we have different versions or something? I got 6.5 edit::: also how did you post a pic, is this access based on post count or something to rid spammers? BB Code did not work for me.. also not a spammer.
  4. Hello Brainstormer, I would try a linux live cd first to see if it is a problem with the windows OS software first or maybe a hardware problem. If it does the same thing with the linux live cd then most likely you can narrow it down to being a hardware problem. If BIO's is showing and it worked previous it is most likely not a BIOS problem, but maybe a video card driver problem, or video card or other hardware problem like said above.
  5. If your just wanting to get a free wifi connection, Most McDonalds or Starbucks offer one. So on your trip to FL you can stop at those to access the net. Other then that you can try to just keep hitting refresh in windows and try to find open/free wifi networks. I used to keep mine open with no encryption just to share. If it is encrypted then yeah you run into legal issues unless you own it. There are programs and such to crack WEP and WPA but it sounds like you just want to get free internet wifi, so free wifi spots are a great choice. I beleive there is even a website that shows a ton of free wifi spots across the US, forget the name.. google will show you :)
  6. So I have them both on NAT but they can not connect to the internet, so I am thinking maybe that is why they can not reach each other. The picture above is my settings for the VM network, maybe they need to go on a custom network setting? I get a drop down box with VMnet0 threw 9 one says host only and the other says NAT next to it. So maybe set Win to host only and BT4 to NAT? but will they still be able to access the internet like say if I need to google something while im pen testing? posted image but just says "posted image" here is link to screen shot http://img845.imageshack.us/i/vmsubnetting.jpg
  7. I like a lot of hip hop, classical, and rock mostly. Depends on the mood. Wu-Tang, Beethoven, Metallica, Lil Wayne.. it all depends, what do you all have playing on your systems?
  8. I plan on setting up my own, I am not sure what De-Ice is doing, but I need to set one up to practice for myself. Think I am about half way there.
  9. I set both to NAT networking, and booted both at once, did a ifconfig on BT4 and a ipconfig on Win XP, got both IP's but when pinging from BT4 VM to Win XP VM, got a "network is unreachable" error. Mr. Protocol, thank you for the link (will read).. and also yes I am using VMWare workstation, I have used VirtualBox with Ubuntu but am using VMWare right now because I have to run Win as my main OS on this pc.. so I should set it to Bridged instead? ughh.. I will keep playing with this program until it works.
  10. I have usually been able to get win admin password by using OrphCrack live cd, you can also use a live linux cd to get the windows .SAM file and then crack it on another computer or I think I remember I had a live cd, think it was "Dukes nuke and boot" or maybe it was "Hirens" live boot cd but one of those type of cd's I had an option to delete the windows admin password completely.. but that was for Win XP, I am not sure if it will work for the newer win versions. OrphCrack will get it if it is 8 character or smaller I beleive, or you can add additional rainbow tables to crack it. Then of course once you had admin access you can add/edit/delete all the user accounts that you want. I do not know of one though that is designed specifically to add a user.
  11. Setting up a pentesting lab and working on a website.
  12. One of my friends told me a lot of jobs you submit for on the internet have a program that scans your resume for keywords pertaining to the job. Sounds like a business card to me also, and like the addition of the Linked-in link on it. You could even make a website that has your portafolio and put that link instead. I think it also depends on what kind of job you are trying to get.
  13. Hello, I recently finished installing BT4 on VM1 and WinXP on VM2, how do I network the two together so I do not mess up anything else when pentest practicing? Infiltrator and others said something about setting up a "Hidden network", how is that accomplished? Any good tutorials? Thanks
  14. She could be my Linux tutor any time :)
  15. Allright.. So I need to set up VMware workstation, use an internal networking method w/ NAT & Bridging(?) for the 2 VM ware OS and I should use different HD, or a different partition on the drive for the VM's? (But can still use it on one drive) What would the network ip's look like for a VM? 192.x.x.x? then set that as the internal network for my pentesting? (or can you create your own internal IP's for pen testing use that excludes outside networks) Thanks for all of your response, it is very helpful.. After that is working, then just boot both VM's at once and have fun hacking??
  16. How do I set up a pentesting lab with windows as my main OS and only using one pc? I am pretty sure I will need VMware of some type, how would the IP's work? Could I be in VM#1 - BT4, and then attack VM#2 - win xp? but still have my main os as win 7? thanks
  17. Com'n now.. dont hate on Australians! :) I hate Russian IP's a lot worse.
  18. Was checking google news today and seen a cool article I took a look at and guess who was in there! http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/17/technology/personaltech/17basics.html Congrats! and nice article..
  19. Why not download blackbuntu and use armitage on the live cd
  20. That's why everything I post is a lie! Dis-information is the key j/k... or am I .. :-) nice post
  21. - Family & friends who would lie or steal from you - People who reply on a forum post and tell you to google it in more typed char's then it would take to just answer the question - Math - Those colleges you see on TV who are not accredited but charge x5 the cost - People that act like they are all "leet" and better then every body all of the time, and offer no help just smart ass remarks - People who are always preaching religion to you, when you don't want to hear it at that time - Being the guy that all friends and family expect to do free computer work all of the time

    Anonymous?

What do you think? Is Anonymous a good or bad thing? http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2011/02/how-one-security-firm-tracked-anonymousand-paid-a-heavy-price.ars http://pastebin.com/x69Akp5L btw; I found this article on Google
  23. I tried out RDP, but found Team Viewer to be a better method in a lot of cases.. it depends what you are trying to do. I think you need XP pro to use RDP on both systems, and they can still see the mouse moving around and stuff. Team Viewer does the same thing, if you want invisable viewing of a remote PC look into a good RAT or "Remote admin tool"
  24. You could mod your glove compartment box to have a small fold out netbook pc, plus most glove compartments have locks on them, which is good and out of easy view.. I had a friend who modded his truck so he had a xbox controller that would make the hydrolics on his truck move around and control his vehicle with the xbox controller, that was pretty awesome.
  25. The way I fixed it is by banning about 20 IP's, have not gotten another spammer in the last month or so. Thats with no Recaptcha system or new user approvals. Allthough I am sure Hak5 forums see more traffic then mine. If you want to be really safe just ban all the IP's from Russia, China and Nigeria lol
