  1. Yea, everything up to the endpoints need to be able to handle vlans. The routers will usually be the creators of the vlans, then the switch will either trunk the vlans to another switch/router, or break the vlan out to a device. From what i remember ddwrt does vlans, but not very well. Also, just because the chromecast is vlaned off from the rest of the network, its traffic is still routing through the same switch. It's not going to save bandwidth for the other devices, they just won't see it. As for the dumb switch, you put the port it's connected to, to whatever vlan you want it on, and it just sees that vlan. We do that for camera systems. The poe switches for the cameras are on one network, and we'll either give them their own port on the firewall/router, or a vlan port on the core switch.
  2. It's going to be slow as shit. Every vpn connection will add some extra overhead to the data stream. If all you're doing is some command line-fu, it's not that big a deal, streaming is probably going to be a no-go, unless your vpn's are all over some really fat pipes, with some really skookum hardware for the vpn servers.
  3. Heh, you know, the blue dos prompt!
  4. You'd think they'd let you download faster...
  5. In that case, you're probably screwed.
  6. I do like the pineapple sticker on the bottom though. None of my gear came with them, even the bash bunny didn't have one.
  7. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-openvpn-server-on-ubuntu-16-04 Scroll down to step 8.
  8. Nothing says "shut off your wifi" like seeing the pineapple patch out in the wild!
  9. Can you ping 8.8.8.8 over the connection? If so, it's a DNS issue. If you can't, it's a routing issue.
  10. Throw it in a windows box and let nvidia's site tell you.

I still have clients using wep... Handheld barcode scanners. They get their own network.

    VPN's

It's the school's network, their rules. Here in the US schools are mandated to filter K-12 school internet. We're also blocking anything that can harm the local network, or computers. So, your vpn is blocked. Go watch netflix or download your torrents at home. Hacking the school's wifi is illegal, you won't find any help here. Crap like that at my schools would have gotten you either suspended or permanently banned from school computer resources.

    Kali linux

    Well. Sombitch! https://www.kali.org/tutorials/kali-on-the-windows-subsystem-for-linux/
  14. You have to reinstall windows in English. The only version that I know of that can flip between languages is the Ultimate versions. Even then, it's limited languages.
  15. Funny story. I was washing the car and decided to use the pressure washer to wash the grates in our smoker, so I laid them out on the concrete porch to clean. After I finished I had to clean the whole porch because I made shadows of the grates with the washer... You don't realize how dirty the concrete is until you clean a spot.
  16. Yea, in the country, so not worried about people stealing stuff. I moved out of town because our cars got broken into. That and we're paying about $150 a month more for the mortgage, than we were paying for rent. House is 4 times-ish bigger and instead of a quarter acre lot we're on a little over 3 acres of land with wooded land on two sides of us, a farm field on the front side of us, and an empty overgrown field on the other side.
  17. Man, I'm glad I don't have neighbors. I could have a Derbycon concert at my house, and no one would complain. Well, my wife would, but no one else!
  18. It should "Just Work™" in Kali. Does it work on another machine?
  19. Take it outside, and leave it outside. You really don't want it popping in your house/apartment.
  20. This is the weirdest spam post I've ever seen. It almost looks legit.
  21. If you really want to get fancy. https://photos.app.goo.gl/nSiE3FPJPsO0JrPM2
  22. Uhh, unscrew the omni antenna, and attach a directional.
  23. You think a locked down computer at school is bad. Try NO COMPUTER USE at school. This is what we did with the kids that screwed up our systems.
