I do understand what you did. You simply connected your PC to a ethernet port, then you connected your PC and your laptop wirelessly to a router, finaly you set up a VPN. Instead of carrying my PC around everywhere I just bring a router and laptop that way I can VPN online.

You could put the powersupply with the water filter, and if you're worried about the heat you could try liquid cooling.

200-400m of wireless... it's not looking so good. Even an ethernet cable can only go about 100m before the signal can't be read, well unless you use a transceiver. Your cheapest option would probably be fiberoptics.

Did you mess with your Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties? Also try somethings like directly connecting to your modem, or booting up in safe mode.
