Btt: I searched for some cheap hostels in Berlin and found some, starting by 12€ per night. I don't have any experiences with priceranges, so, are 12 Euros cheap or not so cheap? Other question, what are you willing to pay per night? In what range?

To improve security I recommend using asymetric (public/private keys) system. There are masses of bots outside just waiting to own a non-well protected system :)

I don't think that integrating Thunderbird into the Switchblade would be a good idea as it costs space and ram. An alternative would be a "wget-like" command which checks if a file on a web server exists and then calls a program which shuts the machine down.

Is it possible to do the same with the stricter rights management on a linux based system? According to my console, I need to be root in order to shutdown the system and providing the root passwort is not the best idea.

How about obtaining a copy and looking for interfaces the programs are using?

You can make a "quickndirty" version by using nircmd.exe with option "wait time".
