    Finding Sites?

I just found that link and it does exactly what i wanted, its in the reverse lookup. But i would still like to know how this site is actually doing this. The only way i can think of is sending a certain query to one of the services that they have running that makes that service tell you what domains are parked with them. I was just about to say reverse lookup. Well as DNS servers have a record of all the host -> IP address records, I guess it would just be a case of building up a record of all the hostnames with the same IP address?
  2. just switch to linux and forget about AutoPatcher Dude Sparda asked whether Autopathcer is reliable, and if there's a better solution, and you just say "Use Linux". You could answer that about anything, but it's not a help is it?!
  3. Moonlit this is sweet, keep me informed on what you are doing. We're getting you on Life in Hex for this! ;-)
  4. Golden rule of traffic shaping: You can only shape what's going out, not what's coming in. There are ways, but they are archaic (ie. dropping packets to make servers think they are pushing too much data to you). Otherwise: http://lartc.org/
  5. You better make sure you sudo chmod -R 777 / You should never have execution problems again Heh
  6. That's because Linux is trying to open it in a text edit, you need to make it executable and run it (probably from in a terminal as root if they are drivers). Wait...isn't that a SUSE lizard?
  7. Better still UT2004 is Linux compatible. I know Steam is a good success story, it was the closest thing I got to work when I tried wine etc.
  8. As I mentioned on Life in Hex I found it pretty tough, although TransGaming will have more experience than me. Plus, don't expect to get the sort of performance you got out of Windows. As far as multi purpose media player, try VideoLAN Client (shortened to VLC). Visit www.videolan.org for more information. It's good because you don't need codecs. I'm not sure if it's in the yum repos, but you should be able to find an RPM on the VLC website.
  9. You need one of those http-based browsing things that allows you to click on functions and it takes you to where they are defined. I saw it once for WordPress, and never found it again. :(
  10. On a mere technical point, it's more that it slows it down when it's idle, rather than speeding it up when it's in use. I know they are the same in the end...but it helps to realise that. For example if you aren't using an OS that supports it, you will be running at the highest clock speed rather than fixed on the lowest. CPU-Z will give you a better idea of what you have exactly, if you are running Windows
  11. Out of interest Duelus, what would you suggest if you don't want to learn about Linux, but just want to be practical. Gnome? I'm just interested, I also use fluxbox where I can, often because it's nicer on the resources ;-)
  12. That's easily minimum spec for IPCop, I used to run it on much less, what's more likely is you have a bit of hardware it doesn't like? I don't know much about kernel panics, but I do know IPCop is very cut down, it runs a cut down kernel and cut down software to keep it's size small.
  13. Only if you get 31337 posts. I'm sorry ;-)
  14. That's a lot of LEDs. Bulk Purchase I think ;-) But that WOULD be sweet.
  15. I think someone mentioned it, but doesn't ARP Poisoning allow you to "sniff" a switched network? Particularly if the switch is managed and so has an IP address. Or is this a case of RTFP?
  16. I've got the x86 version running, feels...sluggish. I didn't think about trying out the x64 version, but I don't see a reason why not. TBH I have never run an x64 OS...despite having a 64-bit processor. Weird...I know...Should be fun.
  17. I used to have about 3 or 4 computers running in my shed doing various things. But since I invested in a server case, UPS, and 500GB of RAID5 (now in my wardrobe), I haven't had any need for them. However they're there for tweaking and mucking around with. My main server (the 500GB), acts as file server(+torrent box), game server when I need it, and whatever else I'm mucking around with at the time. It's a 1Ghz Althon with 256MB of RAM I think. At the front of my network is a Gentoo box that acts as Firewall, DNS, DHCP, et al. I used to be running IpCop for that, but I moved to Gentoo because I wanted a fully-featured Linux box there, so I could muck around with traffic shaping, proxies, and whatnot (the better hardware support was a good thing too :D)
  18. My main rig goes off at night because there's nothing for it to do - I have a server box that does any nightly downloads or whatever, and that's on in my cupboard 24/7 (I turn it off once a month to clean out the dust filters etc and give it chance to reboot). I have a Gentoo Linux Firewall box running downstairs that's also on 24/7 (same though, once a month off to clean it out). Any other computers are only on when they are needed.
  19. /dev/random would be much better ;-) zero-ing is much easier to recover from. Also run it about 6 times. Or better still, DBAN.
  20. I want Minimsn :( That AIM client looks so cool.
  21. Go Ted Go! Not much has changed since last time I posted one of these methinks.
  22. That's pretty sweet. Are those webcam shots running on your sidebar?!
  23. I haven't done desktop customization for a long time  Let's do this in traditional desktop-posting fashion: Theme: PxlPlusM by Andymorum. (UXTheme Multi-Patcher is your friend) Icons: Vista High XP from http://www.crystalxp.net/ Desklet thingy: Samurize running Glass by Em7 Wallpaper: Deviantart. Somewhere. Not sure... I think that covers everything?
  24. It really is about time I get back into customization *goes hunts*
