  3. I know this is not the place for this, but this would be cool to mess with. Even modding another type of cam for this old cell phone beat up digital camera. Even a windshelid cam would be cool. This could be fun.
  4. Folks go to goolge play type in war driving wiggle will come up. Itunes type in war driving something will come up. Search google for a linux war driving setup. What you can do is save the data in some sort of text file. SSID BSSID wep wpa wps lat long as a .csv file. Even a kml file. It is so simple google and many other people can do this. I am going to setup a vpn as they they did in episode 1405. In case i have to go any where like a coffee shop even at work where there is public wifi. I also have one on a different public IP address. Locked down wpa. Cover my ass. As ozzy and black sabath said I am paranoid. Maybe I am, Nothing is secure darrren you guys nailed it.
  5. kml files is a goggle earth data file. lat/lon = gps. war driving software can use gps coordinates. Cell phones have wifi and gps. the data is exported into a file which mapping software can use. It creates little dots on a map where each access point is. different color for wep,wpa and open. 1405 darren talked about open vpn hit the nail on the head.
  6. Bad grammer strikes again. There are war driving aps for all platforms ios android linux. The fishing thing was a sidebar humor. It scans the wifis in the area uses gps on phone. Many will put into a csv file or kml file. Use gis software or google earth. Gives someone a bad idea of who is and who shold never be snooping out for vulerable Thoes guys nailed it in 1405. Also gives you an oportunity to sniff and see what people do on other peoples networks.
  7. I do general computer stuff and comsulting. I am lost creativly for a name. The other thing I see Darren with a helmet or handle bar camera. Maybe If I get a much needed break I will rig one up on my kayak.
  8. I am now a firm beliver of vpns and proxys. Any downtown area has restaurants bars and businesses with wifi. Just scan with a laptop.
  9. There are War driving application for any thing. Use gps on phone. Use a gis app Google earth or not. Map all WiFi hotspots. Punch the waypoint in plot a course for those spot. Just like fishing.
  10. Do I need a banner motd on my businesses public WiFi
  11. I am not knocking people who pay as you go for a phone. But that and trying to hide on social networking should be a flag. I dont know if this means anything the person has an area code on their phone which is on the other side of the country. Can change the number if needed. Does not need a bank or credit card there are ways around this. I dont know if these are hints anything is wrong. Is this similar to computer crime.
  12. I want to say you guys rock. You shined a new light on how to subnet. I put things into one post to save time. Networking and Security you learn about people and psycology. Even linux is a way to learn how people think. It is just like people in other fields. I had a employee who hid several things from us. While she was working turns out I had to get rid of the employee. Long story drinking on the job being drunk in a bar. People try to hide things. She had no online identity. Most people do. If I was doing some thing with a computer and I wanted to keep away from people I would try everything to hide and not have an online identity. With linux there is something I have not figured it out.
  13. What is the best way to deal with this. First thing I am going to do is blow the dust out of it. Do I have to send it back to them. Can I tell my friend to get a cooling pad. Will this put a band aid on this? Darn it as someone walked into the office just now I asked his if he had a toshiba laptop that overheats he said yes. Grrrrr. What does this mean.
  14. you all rock. My way of doing it might be a bit wrong borrow one bit get 2 subnets you lose hosts for net and broadcast in the process. two bits four subnets and so on. What I learned is find what works for you. Again you guys rock. The other thing that helps is setting up a network in a lab and testing different addresses.
  15. The results are in summary of my posts. From excessive wikipeida and some google searching and general queries this is what I came up with. Sometimes Wikipedia is better than google. I like htc wild fire for phone. I found 3 substitutes for rdp that are secure. team viewer isl light bomgar Real vnc screen connect My take on the groupon thing in the restaurant I work at just put a desktop pc with the groupon merchant site up at the front of the restaurant. Opinion on the shows. Android is good, install and play around with the sdk. Root an android device. Put ubuntu on an android tablet. get rid of bloat ware on android and apple devices for that matter. Create 10 digit rainbow tables with the first 3 the same combination for the whole table a phone number table. Talk about bring your own device applies to apple and android devices. Pimping out old hardware create a dev box. A pc used as an internet kiosk for trolls I mean employees. Comand line basics works for linux mac and android. Network policy what you are legaly responsible for. The banner motd. "this is my company network. non company access is prohibited" cover your ass. Tips on network cablin cat 6. DDWRT. THATS ALLno funny stuff or jokes.
  16. it is close to linux. putting the android sdk on linux is cool. It would take lots of energy to set up a show explaining a software push options using linux. Sccm is what is used now. (sucks) I would like to see how to pimp a tablet with ubuntu. Get rid of the bloat ware on tablets. If it is still legal root an android device. Or IOS for that matter. Again Pimping out old hardware to run what ever os just to browse the net for trolls I mean Employees at work. Create a dev box etc. Create a default web page that people go to when they log into a wifi access point. The banner motd. Bring your own device. A simple victim pc to track what goes to your network. How to attract people who want to hack you. If your nasty ex is using her computer depart to screw with you. Basics of the command line. Zone minder audio codecs compression etc. Even tips on network cabling. Split the show up based on feed back or which week it is. This is my take. BB
  17. Post Jokes or anything Humorous Here please.
  18. Toss up the glasses are cool. But if the car would fix traffic congestion in Srq FL. Has potential I mean being backed up a light and a half is ridiculous. Worse in the mornings and on 301 and 41. It is worse in other places in the us. Also making it safer to drive home from work at 2am.
  19. mm kay dont use cell phones cell phones are bad. K They are working on a fix. It sets a bad precident about how we do what we do to learn about Technologies. They are motivated by big business. The carriers love this the hardware manufacturer hate this. They are trying to keep us from figuring things out like wps and wep. I think it said something about trafficing of cell phones. Homeland security. Does this stop me from using audacity to copy audio from youtube. I have a circuit board I hook to my pc to try and break laundry cards. Does this stop me from copying the gate remote code for my neighbors remote. Too stupid to put a rolling code which could probably be broken. What is to stop me from getting a list of phone numbers from my neighbors Cable companies use these for wpa 7 digit code to crack with the 3 digit area code. A 7 number table with the area code. When a security problem happens the govt will change their tune about cell phones. I think they will change it back. In fact the govt is trying to fix this. I will post the link. I am as pissed as you are I have no credit all I can get is a shitty pre paid phone. . As long as you dont have a contract it is fine.
  20. I work in a restaurant for my job job when I am not playing music or computer gigs. I get the feeling people use these more than once. Can these be printed as a pdf? Can a voucher be printed more than once? I get the feeling gimp photoshop or whatever is being used to copy these and screw merchants. These customers dont really tip they flood the restaurant on the last day. Look at what people in bars and restaurants make. The musicians bitch. If there is the slightiest thing wrong the customers make a huge scene on Yelp. Yelp filters everyone elses reviews except these. Thanks for listening.
  21. I My phone is a tablet I want something smaller. The big thing is wifi tethering. Do android phones do this automaticaly. Then I will get something else to do what my tablet does. The big problem is running out of memory. I will get a separet tablet or netbook to take care of every thing else. Maybe I should look at wikipedia instead of google. Just want a basic phone with wifi tethering. Any ideas.
  22. badbass

  23. Yeah thanks nx is no machine. Sometimes Wikipedia is better because they compare things. I opened up the nx on wikipedia. There was a comparison of different rdp products.
